Beast of Reincarnation contains 12 Ranged Ammunition Manuals (6 Arrows & 6 Bolts). Collecting all 12 is required for the trophy/achievement Manual Maniac for obtaining all of the manuals, as well as Munitions Master for fully upgrading both ranged weapons, along with all 12 arrow and bolt types.
Both ranged weapons (Crossbow and Bow) are automatically obtained through the story, along with the manuals for the basic Bolts and Arrows. The remaining 5 of each type must be purchased or collected from the environment. Nothing is missable, you can still find everything after the story in free-roam before entering New Game+.
When you are near a manual it will be marked on the map with a “BOOK” icon, which will disappear after you have picked up the manual. Recollecting manuals in New Game+ awards Amber instead of the manual.
Collectibles Overview:
Arrows and Bolts are listed in the order they appear in the equipment menu. Note that you can obtain the Arrows or Bolts from the environment or when dropped by certain enemies and use them before having obtained the Manual. You can tell if you have obtained the Manual for a specific item as they will have green “Manual possessed” text under their name in the inventory.

Manual #1: Arrows – Oguochi Buffer Zone
Automatically obtained during story progression at the same time you obtain the Zangetsu Bow.
Manual #2: Poison Arrows – The Great Wall Terraces
West of Flower Field Tower campsite, on a table in the corner of the platform.
Manual #3: Acid Arrows – Oguochi Buffer Zone
In Subcity 03 beside the Toward the Nushi’s Lair campsite, purchase these from the Wandering Merchant golem. Also available from later instances of the Wandering Merchant or from Brad when you continue to the next region.
Manual #4: Fire Arrows – Oguochi Buffer Zone
In the building south of Cliffside Village: Interior.
Manual #5: Lightning Arrows – Ancient Civilization Zone
South of Raging River campsite, purchase from Ancient Golem vendor.
Manual #6: Explosive Arrows – Fuji Frontier Zone
From the start of the area, following the path west across the pipes to the next ground area where the book is slightly north near a peaceful Golem.
Manual #7: Bolts
Automatically in your inventory from the start of the game, along with the Crossbow.
Manual #8: Poison Bolts – The Great Wall Terraces
South of Mountain Plaza: Forefront campsite, purchase from Wandering Merchant vendor. Also available from later instances of the Wandering Merchant or from Brad when you continue to the next region.
Manual #9: Acid Bolts – Oguochi Buffer Zone
Above Quarry Interior campsite, in the building behind the Elite Golem.
Manual #10: Fire Bolts – Oguochi Buffer Zone
In Subcity 03 beside the Toward the Nushi’s Lair campsite, purchase these from the Wandering Merchant golem. Also available from later instances of the Wandering Merchant or from Brad when you continue to the next region.
Manual #11: Lighting Bolts – Giant Tree Zone
East of Cableway – Line 2: Terminal Stop campsite, on the lower level of the fortress structure. If you follow the quest steps speaking to the Tower Storyteller and then the Fortress General this is where you are directed.
Manual #12: Explosive Bolts – The Great Wall Terraces
South of Mountain Plaza: Forefront campsite, purchase from Wandering Merchant vendor. Also available from later instances of the Wandering Merchant or from Brad when you continue to the next region.
