Introduction

Welcome to the Bugsnax Trophy Guide! Bugsnax is quite a unique game – and being free on PS+ at Launch for the PS5, it will be a fun title for many players starting on the newest generation of consoles.
Setting course to Snaktooth Island to interview famous explorer Elizabert Megafig, we find ourselves in a storm which scatters the islands inhabitants – called Grumpuses – around. Additionally, the island is crowded with Bugsnax – half Bug, half Sna(c)k. These delicious little creatures play a key part in the reunification of the Grumpuses.

Step 1: Play the Story & Side Missions

While playing the Story, you will get to know the individual inhabitants and receive tools/gadgets which make the hunt for Bugsnax easier. You can also knock out a few Side Missions, once the individuals have settled back into the main village Snaxburg and ask for your help. During the story you will catch many Snax automatically. If you get stuck and don’t know what to do, check out the Bugapedia. It has the solution for how to catch each Snak. Before going into the final mission (you’ll get a “point-of-no-return”-message), you want to finish all available side missions to make it considerably easier.

Step 2: Remaining Snax

After finishing the Story, you will be placed back in time and before the final set of main story missions. This gives the opportunity to hunt the remaining Snax (if any) or complete the remaining Side Missions, if you left some undone.
There are 100 species Bugsnax in total and you must catch all of them! Some Side-Missions reveal unique Snax which cannot be seen or caught before accepting the corresponding missions.

To get your bearings on Snaktooth Island, here is a map with all areas names (click to enlarge):

For a full list of all Bugsnax in the game, where to find them and how to get them, check out: Bugsnax Bugapedia (All Bugsnax Locations).

Bugsnax Trophy Guide

Bugsnax Master
Obtain all of the trophies.
Earn all other trophies in Bugsnax to unlock Platinum (DLC not required).
Vacation’s End
Complete the main story of Bugsnax.
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. Unlocks after the final mission / fight.

After the story, the game will place you back to the “point-of-no-return”, which is basically free-roam.

Got To Catch Them All
Catch 100 unique species of Bugsnax.
For this trophy, you need to catch each and every available Bugsnak in the whole game. See the Bugsnax Bugapedia for locations of all 100 Bugsnax and :gold: Bossy Bugs trophy below for some more information.

Some Bugsnax are only encountered within Side Missions of fighting Legendary Snax and cannot be caught early on.

Sidetracked
Complete all of the side quests.
There is a total of 38 side quests in the game given by 10 different characters. These spawn once the Grumpuses have settled back to Snaxburg.

Most of them are smaller errands, however, the four Legendary Bugsnax-Fights are also amongst them.
None of these quests are missable, they can all still be done after beating the story. However, it is advised to do all of them before heading into the final missions, as it makes the ultimate fight a lot easier. See :gold: Survivor for more info on that.

Feeding Frenzy
Fully transform every Grumpus.
There is a total of 12 Grumpuses in the game, which can be fed :tri: with Snax, once you’ve gained their trust.
Each Grumpus needs to be fed 14 Snax to fully replace all parts of the body with Snax.
Shelda can sometimes be a bit buggy and not fed; put some Snax in her donation box and try to talk to a few other characters in town, sleep for a while or leave the area for a while and try again.
If you think you got everything but still miss the trophy, Check Beffica’s hair again, as it sometimes resets to default.
Bossy Bugs
Defeat all of the Legendary Bugsnax.
There are a total of 4 Legendary Bugsnax, which all are tied to side missions and can’t be caught early on.

  1. Flavor Falls: Mama Mewon (mission “Throw Down!” by Chandlo, the sports fanatic)
The large Melon is overly protective about its children. You want to place traps under the stalactites to catch some. Mama will charge and get stunned, which is your chance to grapple down the stalactites and damage her.
Make sure to catch at least one of the Wee Mewon’s, while you’re already here.
  2. Boiling Bay: Megamaki (mission “Dance with the Dragon!” by Wiggle, the singer)
The large Sushi Fish needs to be shortened, until only its head is left. Use tripwires between the poles and once the pieces are separated, collect as many as you can.
These smaller pieces, called Minimaki, are another Snak on their own.
  3. Sizzlin’ Sands: Mothza Supreme (mission “A Slice of Heaven!” by Cromdo, the salesman)
The flying Pizza is lowered into a reachable sphere by placing the Lunchpad on top of the pyramid. Fire the exploding Bombino Snax at it and quickly use the slicer statues on the ground to cut it down.
Make sure to pick a Bombino up here, once it has exploded and cooled off. It is first encountered in this mission.
  4. Frosted Peak: Daddy Cakelegs (mission “Cake Boss!” by Snorpy, the inventor)
The large Cake with Candles does not like fire. Place your tripwire into a burning ground and shoot his Candles. He will relocate twice, but the same tactics apply.
Baby Cakelegs can be caught in or after this mission.
Survivor
All of the Grumpuses survive.
In the final mission, you have to defend your companions at six different stations, using variations/modifications of your regular weapons/gadgets.
Some Grumpuses can die, if you haven’t completed all their side missions and you don’t fight well enough.IF you completed all side missions of a Grumpus, he/she will be invincible and you actually don’t have to help them at all.
IF you have some of their missions left undone, they are vulnerable and you do have to make a perfect defense at their corresponding station, or they will die otherwise.

  1. Defend Filbo, using a modified trap: Nothing really to worry about, the Strawberrys don’t pose a big threat. Place the trap and close it to kill them.
  2. Defend Shelda & Floofty, using a modified grappler: Also quite easy and self-explanatory. There are different spawn-points of the waves of enemies.
  3. Defend Chandlo & Snorpy, using a flying trip-wire: Chandlo will throw logs into the wall, where the trip-wire can be anchored to. A total of seven waves.
  4. Defend Beffica & Cromdo, using the Lunchpad & explosive barrels: The trickiest one. Several waves of flying Snax will come towards you. Needs some good timing to get the blue aiming lines and a bit of luck to hit multiple enemies at once. Always use the reticle itself as the aim, do not try to line up the arc of the launch, it is just confusing and doesn’t work half as good.
  5. Defend Wiggle & Gramble, using a spiky Buggy Ball: Not too bad, but the controls of the Ball are not always the best.
  6. Defend Wambus & Triffany, using the Slingshot with special sauce: Also quite easy, as the sauce will attract the Snax and they’ll headbutt each other.

If a Grumpus dies, press :options: and Restart from Save. This will take you back to the start of the fight.
Also, when the story is over, you will be in free-roam-mode right before the final missions, giving another chance for this trophy. For this reason it isn’t missable.

Documentarian
Watch all of Lizbert’s video diaries.
There is a total of five film-reels to be found:

  1. Inside of Lizbert’s House in Town, next to the Projector itself.
  2. In the Cabinet right next to it. Needs a key, which is obtained by Beffica.
  3. In the Chest in the adjacent room. Needs a key, which is obtained by Chandlo.
  4. Found in Sugarpine Woods. Also marked on a Map given by Wiggle, but obtainable before. Upon entering Sugarpine Woods head towards the right side and continue until you reach the cliffside at the end. The reel is sitting in an abandoned backpack on the ground.
  5. In a Lockbox in Sheldas House/Pagoda. Needs a key, which is obtained by Floofty.

Once you have found all reels, play them on the Projector.

Talkin’ Bout Bugsnax
Interview every Grumpus.
Bugsnax has a total of 12 Characters who need to settle back into the main town. To do so, you need to visit them in their corresponding areas and gain their trust by doing various smaller missions. Once they are back, you can conduct interviews, if you approach them.

Only Eggbert’s interview is conducted outside of Snaxburg; once you first meet her at Frosted Peak. Completing an interview will in almost every case give you an item/clue on Lizbert’s whereabouts. Be sure to use or search for them, before you forget them amongst other things. They will usually reveal film-reels or maps/documents which are needed later on to progress the story.

In The Arms of the Gramble
Donate the max amount of Bugsnax to Gramble’s ranch.
After you’ve made Gramble (resides in Simmering Springs) come back to town, he will run the ranch. Outside of the ranch, there is a donation box, where you can throw in Snax you’ve caught.
There is a total of three tiers of donations to unlock this trophy, alongside with an increased backpack size.

  1. 6 donations
  2. 12 donations
  3. 18 donations

After you’ve dontated the total of 36 Snax to the Ranch, this trophy will pop and your backpack now holds 18 Snax.

Know Thy Neighbor
Return every Grumpus to Snaxburg.
Bugsnax has a total of 12 Characters who need to settle back into the main town. To do so, you need to visit them in their corresponding areas and gain their trust by doing various smaller missions. This will happen automatically as part of the main story.
Halfway There
Catch 50 unique species of Bugsnax.
See the Bugsnax Bugapedia for locations of all 100 Bugsnax.
I’m Stuffed
Fully transform a Grumpus.
To fully transform a Grumpus, you need to feed him or her a total of 14 Snax, which will replace their limbs and facial features, one by one.
These are the body parts you need to transform: Hair, Nose, Teeth, Body, both Horns, both Arms, both Hands, both Legs & both Feet.
Candid Cryptid
Scan the Snaxsquatch
The Snaxsquatch can be seen in the final mission, “Learn the Truth”.
It is stationary and appears in multiple sections of the mission, so it is easy do scan it.

Sometimes, it also appears in Garden Grove at night-time, standing above the waterfall.
Sundae Best
Transform a Grumpus with Scoopy, Banopper, and Cheery.
These three ingredients (Ice-Cream Cone, Banana & Cherry) are found in Frosted Peak. To reveal them, you need to make a Snoopy Banoopy (Banana Split) explode to its single pieces. To do that, you need to lure/lead it into a lit campfire and let it catch fire.

For tips on how to catch them, check the Bugapedia.

Once you’ve caught all three, head to any single Grumpus you can feed :tri: and replace their limbs with these corresponding three Snax.
The Red Banopper (from Boiling Bay) also works for this trophy.

Trippin’ Ball
Stun a Bugsnak with the Trip Shot attached to your Buggy Ball
Once you’ve obtained the Trip Shot (Tripwire) mount it on any eligible surface. Pull out your Buggy Ball and use it as the anchor point to tension the Tripwire. Now, you only need to lure any Snak through the Wire and stun it.

Grab Bag
Empty one biome of all its Snakpods.
The different areas – or biomes – all have different sorts of Chips/Sweets-bags hanging at walls, most of them very well-hidden. For this trophy, you need to collect all of them in a single area.

Biome 2 (Garden Grove) has a total of five spots, where you can grab them. Some of them are a bit higher up and need the Snak Grappler, which is obtained about mid-story. Here are the five locations, in order of travelling through the area from Flavor Falls to Snaxburg:

  1. Above the pen where you first met Wambus
  2. While going down the path to the bridge, sitting high up on a rock at the side
  3. In the small cave with the Fryders, sitting at a column
  4. At a tree in the far corner with the Bunger and a Ketchup-tree
  5. Inside of Beffica’s cave

Once all five are picked up, they “re-grow” once you come back to the area again. It is also good to remember them and pick (some of) them up, whenever passing through this area. This way, you always have some snacks to transform the Grumpuses and to donate to the Ranch.

Everybody Gets One
Catch your first Bugsnak.
This trophy is achieved very early on. Filbo (blue guy) will give you a trap and explains how to use it on a Strawberry-Snak nearby. Place it next to the bush and once the strawberry comes out of its hiding spot, close the trap and pick it up in time.
Combo Meal
Transform a Grumpus with Bunger, Fryder, and Sodie.
All those three ingredients (burger, fries & soda) are found in the second area, Garden Grove.
Once you’ve obtained all three, head to any single Grumpus you can feed :tri: and replace their limbs with these corresponding three Snax.It is also possible to use the BBQ Bunger, Sweet Fryder & any other Sodie you might have.
Launch Party
Stun a flying Bugsnak by launching another Bugsnak at it.
In Scorched Gorge, you will meet Cromdo. In one of his earliest missions, you will be given the “Lunchpad”, which can launch objects, Snax as well as yourself.
Head to a location of your desire where the “route” of a flying Snak and some easier non-aggressive ground Snax meet. Place the Lunchpad on the ground and lure a Ground-Snak onto it. Launch the Pad once another Snak is flying right above and hope for a hit. This might take a few tries to get the timing right. Might also unlock when simply launching several Snax at once.
Another method would be in Flavor Falls. Scan the route of the Sandopede and place the Lunchpad in its way. Once you launch it, the individual pieces of it will often touch each other mid-air.
Midnight Snak
Transform Gramble.
Gramble (the Rancher-Grumpus you first met down at the beach alongside Wiggle, the singer) generally is against eating Bugsnax. However, at night he is sleepwalking around town. Feed :tri: him, once he does.

That Reminds Me of a Puzzle
Solve the secret of the lava cave, or the secret of the dunes.
Only of these has to be done in order to create a shortcut from Boiling Bay to Sizzlin’ Sands.

To solve the secret of the Lava Cave (area: Boiling Bay), interact with the statues in the order shown below. If can differ between regions, consoles and patches. Try the alternative order, if the other doesn’t work for you.

To solve the secret of the Dunes (area: Sizzlin’ Sands), interact with the statues in the order shown below:

Double Trapper
Catch more than one Bugsnak in your Snak Trap at once.
Can be obtained with many different types of Snax. First good opportunity are the two Fryder spiders in Garden Grove, hanging in the small cave section. Place the trap and lure them with ketchup. Once both are inside of the perimeter of the trap, close it.

The legendary fight against the large Melon is also a good place for it, as there will be several smaller Melon pieces jumping around and even coming actively close to you.

Say Cheese!
Scan a Grumpus after saucing them with cheese.
Cheese Sauce becomes available in the area Sizzlin’ Sands. It grows on quite a large boulder in the distance. Use the Snak Grappler to obtain it.
Shoot it at any Grumpus’ face (Shelda is nearby, if you enter the area the first time) and scan with :r3: + :r2: after that.
If you missed this, you can initiate the final mission again and complete it, once you’ve made everyone dance and watched the lengthy dialogue section. This is the only time you are allowed to wield the Slingshot in Snaxburg itself, which otherwise is forbidden.
Perf Dirt
Steal Beffica’s diary from her cave.
Once you have completed Beffica’s missions in order to make her go back to Snaxburg, you can enter her cave in Garden Grove and take :square: her diary from the table.

Quartermaster
Catch 25 unique species of Bugsnax.
See the Bugsnax Bugapedia for locations of all 100 Bugsnax.
Gone Home
Find your way to Snaxburg.
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. Unlocks early in the game after mission “Gone Home”.
Wonderfalls
Check behind the waterfall for secrets.
This is the first trophy you can earn in Bugsnax. During your first mission “Getting Started!”, when you arrive where Filbo (blue guy) lays on the ground, there’s a waterfall to the right of him. Just walk through the waterfall to unlock this trophy. You can still do this after talking to Filbo when he makes you catch Snax for him.

      Absolutely!
Everyone with a PS+ Subscription should pick this up to play it on PS5, even if they might not get the console right away.

I wanted it on PS4 as well, so didn’t go that route.

For “Candid Cryptid” you can find the Snaxsquatch before the final mission. Not sure what triggers the appearance, but I found it pretty early on

All side-quests is bugged/missable (for me at least). If you do not have any Bugsnax on hand for Floofty’s experiment where she asks you to fill the funnel with Bugsnax, and you leave Snaxburg, the mission will abandon and she will not be attached to the machine, thus making the quest impossible to complete. I have to do a full other play-through just to get the side-quest trophy now.

No trophies are missable. The listed missable snax (bombino amd baby cake legs) appear where their respective bosses spawn after defeating those bosses (baby cake legs in the cave on the mountain, and bombino on top of the pyramid in the desert)

So far, I can only speak for the European PS4 version under Patches 1.01 & 1.02, but under those they were missable.
If you left the area and came back, they were gone for good.

You did not pick them up during or right after the fight, left the area, came back, and they were around?
Which console and version are you playing? I will check as soon as I am able to.

For now, I leave in the warning; just in case.

You can totally miss the cheese one if you don’t sauce someone while you’re out in the field. Youre not allowed to pull the sauce slingshot out in town, so you can’t sauce anyone and take their picture in town.

When the story has concluded and you are back before the Party, start the mission again.
After having made everyone dance and watched the somewhat longer talking-sequence, you can indeed pull out the slingshot within the city and sauce them 🙂

When you leave town with Eggabell to go to the lubtian you can sauce her and get the achievement then.

Just thought I would note that I got “Grab Bag” in Garden Grove WITHOUT getting all five in one go. I had previously grabbed two (2 and 5 in your list). When I decided to do this trophy, I grabbed 1, 2 was not there, then I grabbed 3 and 4 and the trophy popped. I also checked Beffica’s cave (5) and that one wasn’t there. So it seems you can do this one across multiple visits to an area.

Well, that’ll teach me to not skip dialog. Instead of using the trip shot to light the fires in the camp for Snorpy, I just used my body and lunchpads. I never got the Cake Boss sidequest after finishing the sidequest. I’m going to try seeing if it is available after I beat the story. It may make me miss Sidetracked, Got To Catch Them All, Bossy Bugs, and Bugsnax Master. I’ll reply when I’ve finished.

Looks like I just didn’t get far enough into the story for the sidequest to become available.

You can’t miss the two bugsnax mentioned. They appear in the boss arenas after you complete the quests listed. Might have been added in a later patch. I also didn’t not catch them and I am just assuming they appear if you don’t catch them during the fight.

Are you on PS4 or PS5, EU/NA/ASIA version of the game?
The PS4 version was used for this guide and at the time of writing two were definitely missable. But as you said this was likely patched (question is on which platforms/versions), because it seems like they were never intended to be missable.

Asia region PS4 player here, the snacks you listed as missable are available to get after the fights. Might have been patched in later but its been patched all the same.
Bombinos are on top of the pyramid and Baby Cakelegs are within the first mountain room (where rhe fight started)
Snaxsquatch can seemingly be found on any map randomly too, I got it on the Sizzling Springs.
Grab bag also doesnt need to be in one go, maybe that was patched too? I got it in the flavour falls across like 20 visits, Id gotten two early on then two together later and the last one wasnt until a long time after

Is it me or are some trophies bugged and not popping? I nabbed all 5 snacks in Garden Grove twice and nothing. Did the same with stunning a bugsnax using the buggy ball and trip shot and still no trophy popping.

I’ve also noticed after quitting the game and coming back later having a random trophy pop that I had achieved earlier in the game.

I haven’t heard of any widespread issues so far. Maybe something went wrong with the trophy set installation during your game install. Sometimes this happens (it’s rare but can lead to trophy bugs that don’t affect other players). Reinstalling the game could help fix the issue.

Almost same issue here. I’ve got the screenshot and short movieclip of trophy popping up for “say cheese”. It unlocked when I check my trophies in offline mode, but I can’t get it to sync. Subsequent trophies do not even unlock anymore now, neither in online nor offline mode.
What I noticed is that trophy popped up during saving.. Maybe that broke the save file trophy wise? :/

I tried on PS5 under 1.03 and did not collect it on purpose while playing the side mission. It was there later, even after finishing the mission and leaving the area – until I picked one up. After I did, it was then gone from the area for good upon re-entering.
Are the other one’s which are first encountered in side-missions available for you? I still have the Wee Mewon’s around and even had some additional Minimaki swimming in the Bay until I picked all up.

The last story trophy, Survivor can get glitched. Just had it happen to me and now I’ve got to do the whole party scene onwards. I’ve seen a lot of others have the same issue as well apparently. Pissed I’ve got to go through a bunch of scenes I can’t just skip through as well. I did notice when everyone went to get on the ship at end that Wambus kind of had his path blocked and didn’t quite get on. He was there on the sand at the end, but somehow didn’t count it. Not happy at all!

You can just change a transformed part into something else when you feed

For everybody who are struggling with Feeding Frenzy:

    – If you travel between Garden and Town you can easily farm the Snacks, Bunger and Soda for like easy 6-8 items a turn.
    – If you dont know if your Grampus is complete: if you press for the feed the game will automatically choose the next un-transformed spot. If it is a transformed one he is complete. Also the last part is always the body, so it is very recognisable.
    – Another hint, if you go for randomize and quickly change the appearance of the Grampus you can very easy see if something is missing.

    For the cannot feed issue:
    – Shelda bugged for me the most: I slept through all instance of the day back and forth which solved it somewhen
    – Gramble bugged for me, an easy fix here is sleep till midnight because he will then after 5 seconds wander outside of the barn and can always be fed
    – Filbo also bugged for me, sleeping through instances of the day and/or leaving the area helped.

    Hope that helps some people.
    Cheers!

I’m currently doing Wumbus’s side quest and can’t advance after I planted the two Bugsnax in the vacant spots.
