Readvent of Calamity is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Readvent of Calamity side mission.
- Starting Location: Melve
- Quest Giver: N/A
- Requirement: Complete Seat of the Sovran main quest, complete Scaly Invaders side quest, cross the border into Battahl at least once. Must do it before Feast of Deception main quest.
- Reward: 2000 XP, 4500 G, Ring of Grit
- Quest Description: To suffer the dragon’s attack once is a nightmare. To suffer it twice is nothing short of ill luck – and it seems Melve’s fortunes are determined not to turn.
Objectives:
- Repel the dragon
- Visit Melve from time to time
- Find Ulrika
- Inform Lennart of Ulrika’s wellbeing
Starting Location: Readvent of Calamity
To start this quest, return to the town of Melve after having crossed the border into Battahl at least once through any means. When you return there may be a scene where a dragon is now attacking the town.
This quest becomes unavailable during Main Quest 10: Feast of Deception.
Repel the dragon
When you enter the town, a dragon will be in the destroyed area attacking everyone nearby. Most of the townsfolk will also help attack the dragon, so this is likely going to be on the slightly easier end of dragon fights.
This dragon has red pulsing bubbles on its legs and neck, these are what you want to focus on attacking first. Hitting them deals more damage, and breaking multiple of them will stagger it and knock it to the ground temporarily, allowing you to get heavy attacks on its head.
Once the dragon has around 3 health bars left it will go into the air and fly away from the town. You will then automatically be stopped by Sigurd, speak with him and you will unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation.
Visit Melve from time to time
You will now need to return to Melve to check how the town is doing. There is an objective marker in the middle of town immediately, but you will need to actually leave the area and rest for a day before coming back. When you do go into Ulrika’s house at the end of town to see a scene of her talking to someone.
After the scene she will ask you to stay the night, then you can leave her house in the morning for another scene after which Lennart will automatically speak to you.
Find Ulrika
Lennart wants you to help find where Ulrika went, as he believes she means to deal with the dragon herself. You won’t have a marked objective here, but you can find Ulrika again by going to Harve village, where she will be arguing with the village chief. After this automatic scene occurs you will automatically start the side quest Trouble on the Cape.
During or after this side quest, speak directly with Ulrika to complete this objective. If you missed her during the quest she is normally standing around Chandler’s General store in one of the path intersections.
Inform Lennart of Ulrika’s wellbeing
After hearing from Ulrika, you can head back to Melve to speak with Lennart who should be in Ulrika’s house to complete the quest.
This finishes the Readvent of Calamity side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Great guide as always. Just so you know. I managed to complete this quest before entering Bathall. Not sure if there is any requirement that I have completed in its stead mind ( I have visited checkpoint rest, for example).
Keep up the good work, I am loving this game and your guides are really a big part of that

You can start this quest by traveling to Melve immediately after completing 1 of 3 quests Brant gives you.
Also, you can kill the dragon with 2 shots from the ballista at the top of the tower in town for some good XP and ULT abilities early game.

This quest seems to be missable? I didn’t hear anything about a dragon attacking Melve and getting back to the town much later in the game they were referencing the attack, but Lennart nor Ulrika wanted anything to do with me. Which meant I was locked out of the Home is Where the Hearth Is quest and Ulrika romance.
I did get the Trouble on the Cape quest, but Ulrika wasn’t part of it.

I got parts of the quests in question. Fought ugly dragon of but no further involvement with ulrika or that dude. She just stands there ,he says he hopes she is ok. She in Harve he in melve.Game got clumsy quest triggering . Could be better.And what is with te hat dragon at Harve,flies away every time at 1 health bar left
