Introduction

Welcome to the Endling – Extinction is Forever Trophy Guide! In Endling – Extinction is Forever you play as a mother fox in a merciless world environmentally destroyed by the human race. The game functions as a cautionary tale on the havoc that ecological hazards can wreak on wildlife. Endling – Extinction is Forever works on a month-long day-night cycle system. Each day lasts only a handful of minutes, during which you need to hunt for food to feed your fox cubs and uncover new orange marker events. As the night approaches, the world becomes more hostile, with more and more bear traps laying around and humans trying to snatch you and blocking up roads. Ideally, you want to limit your night wanderings and return to any lair before the day ends. When you return to the lair to sleep, a new day starts, uncovering new orange marker events and unlocking new areas to explore. The general rule of thumb is that if you get stuck end the day, and new events that advance the story will become available. It’s very important to complete as many orange marker events as possible to avoid missing trophies! All trophies are missable with the exception of a handful automatic story ones, such as discovering new lairs and finishing the game. You can check the trophy descriptions below to find out when each missable trophy can and must be unlocked. Make sure you unlock all missable trophies before you reach the desert area. It is highly encouraged to use the Find On Page (mobile) or CTRL/CMD F (laptop) and type out the Night you’re in to make sure you take care of everything missable in that specific night. If, when you use the in-page search, a specific night number shows no results, it means there’s nothing trophy-wise you need to watch out for. However, you should still hunt for food during these nights and not immediately progress to the next night.

Step 1: Play through the Story while Keeping all 4 Cubs Alive and Unlock all Missable Trophies Before the Desert Area

During this step, your goal is to play through the story while keeping all of your cubs alive and unlock all missable trophies. First, to keep all of your 4 cubs alive, you are not allowed to have them starve or die in any way. Almost all trophies are missable – the game has no chapter select and once you finish the game you can only start a new one, so make sure you unlock all missable trophies before you reach the desert area.

It is highly recommended to use your web browser’s ‘Find On Page’ (mobile) / CTRL+F (desktop) / CMD+F (laptop) and type out the Night you’re in – this will jump to the relevant trophy here in the guide below. Example: type “Night 12” and your web browser will jump to all trophies here in the guide that are obtainable in Night 12. Take care of everything missable every night. If, when you use the in-page search, a specific night number shows no results, it means there’s nothing trophy-wise you need to watch out for. However, you should still hunt for food during these nights and not immediately progress to the next night. To progress through the story, you need to complete orange marker events and end each day in any lair. As you complete more events and more days, additional orange marker events and new paths will unlock, allowing you to advance the story. If you ever get stuck, go back to any lair to end the day and uncover new orange marker events.

Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

This trophy is missable! In order to unlock this trophy, you need to have all of your 4 cubs alive by the end of the game. Your cubs can die if you starve them or if you let an owl swoop down on and kill them. So, make it a priority to never stop hunting for food and crouch to avoid being spotted by owls. If, for whatever reason, one of your cubs has died, immediately go back to the main menu and you’ll be brought back to the lair with all of your cubs safe and sound. This is because the game only saves inside lairs. This trophy is, however, missable if you don’t reload your game immediately after a cub has been killed or if you have less than 4 cubs when you reach the desert area at the end of the game.

Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Must be unlocked during Night 8

This trophy is missable! During Night 8, one of the orange marker events will ask you to release a badger from a man-made trap. Just release it using the on-screen prompt and this trophy will be yours. This trophy is missable because once Night 8 ends, the badger event won’t be there any longer.

Endling Trophy Guide Maternity
Reunite the Badger’s cub with their mother.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Must be unlocked during Night 17

This trophy is missable! You will find the Badger’s cub in the forest (unmissable, story-related area) as an orange marker event. Approach the Badger’s cub’s mother and you will see the cub just above her, on an unreachable ledge. To get to the cub, you need to stealthily make your way around the Scavenger and avoid getting spotted in his spotlight. Once you’ve reached the cub, grab it with :square: and make your way back. Here’s the location screenshot of the Badger’s cub. This trophy is missable because completing the orange marker event where the Badger and its cub are located is not necessary for story purposes and can be missed and will disappear after Night 17.

Endling Trophy Guide Family Reunion
Rescue the missing cub.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Unlocks during Night 28 provided you’ve followed all purple scent trails during the game

This trophy is missable! This trophy unlocks when you’ve found the cub that was kidnapped at the start of the game. However, in order to unlock this trophy, you need to follow all purple scent trails in each area of the game before they disappear. As stated above, once you see a purple scent trail after exiting from your lair, prioritize it to not lose track of it.

Endling Trophy Guide Never Give Up

Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Must unlock during Night 12

This trophy is missable! The river area is the first area of the game. As you end each day, you’ll unlock more map paths and new orange markers will become available. Occasionally, as you exit the lair, you will see purple scent trails which, if followed, will lead you to new clues as to where the Scavenger has been. It is highly recommended to prioritize the scent trails as soon as they become available because they can disappear after a while, thus making this trophy missable. Additionally, if you ignore any of these scent trails, you won’t be able to recover the kidnapped cub, thus making you miss :gold: We Are a Family and :gold: Family Reunion.

Endling Trophy Guide Never Let Down
Find all traces of the missing cub in the forest.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Must unlock during Night 21

This trophy is missable! The forest is the second area of the game. As you end each day, you’ll unlock more map paths and new orange markers will become available. Occasionally, as you exit the lair, you will see purple scent trails which, if followed, will lead you to new clues as to where the Scavenger has been. It’s highly recommended to prioritize the scent trails as soon as they become available because they can disappear after a while, thus making this trophy missable. Additionally, if you ignore any of these scent trails, you won’t be able to recover the kidnapped cub, thus making you miss :gold: We Are a Family and :gold: Family Reunion.

Endling Trophy Guide Never Run Around
Find all traces of the missing cub near the dumping ground.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Must unlock during Night 28

This trophy is missable! The dumping ground is the third and final area of the game.

Endling Trophy Guide For a Better Tomorrow
Learn all cub skills.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

This trophy is highly missable! As you play through the story and complete more and more orange marker events, you will unlock cub skills. Each cub can learn up to 4 skills, with one being unique for each cub. While most of them are unlocked naturally as you advance the story, some of them can only be unlocked after visiting specific locations on the map. This trophy is highly missable because 1) your cubs can die, thus missing out on some of the unique skills, 2) you cannot backtrack to the main game map after reaching the desert area, which acts as a point of no return, and 3) the cubs’ unique skills can only be unlocked during specific nights. Below are listed the location screenshots of each cub’s unique skill and on which night they can be unlocked.

  • Dig: Night 9
  • Squeeze Through: Night 9
  • Climb: Night 15
  • Hunt: Night 16
  • Dangle: Night 22
  • Deactivate Traps: Night 25
Endling Trophy Guide Beyond Words
Let the Scavenger pet you.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Must be unlocked during Night 28

This trophy is missable! Immediately before reaching the desert area, you will be able to interact with the Scavenger, the guy with the gun hunting you down for most of the game. Once the short cutscene ends, press the  prompt to have the Scavenger pet you and unlock this trophy. This trophy is missable because having the Scavenger pet you is not mandatory to continue through the story and the Scavenger will disappear from the game afterwards.

Endling Trophy Guide Omnivore
Let your cubs eat every kind of food in the game.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

This trophy is missable! You will almost certainly unlock this trophy naturally over the course of the story since you must basically feed your cubs non-stop to prevent them from dying. However, this trophy is missable if you haven’t fed your cubs all kinds of food before reaching the desert area.

Here’s a list of all the known food sources in the game and when they can be hunted.

  • Deer (Night 1, right where you fell off the cliff, the carcass will be there)
  • Fish (Night 2, found in any lake)
  • Apple (Night 3, found on trees)
  • Berry (Night 4, found in bushes)
  • Rabbit (Night 4, found scarring along paths)
  • Mouse (Night 5, found scurrying along paths)
  • Trash (Night 8, found almost anywhere)
  • Worm (Night 9, automatically dug up when you learn the Dig skill)
  • Can (Night 9, found in a vending machine in the left-most dead-end of the industrial area)
  • Mushroom (Night 10, found in an alcove near the location of the Squeeze Through skill)
  • Burger  (Night 10, automatically found by your cubs as you explore the barns)
  • Egg (Night 12, found on tree branches)
  • Chicken (Night 16 or Night 25, unmissable if you go for :bronze: Chicken Dinner)
  • Lunchbox (Night 18, automatically found by your cubs as you explore the barns)
  • Chips (Night 22, found on a wooden ledge in the dumping grounds)
  • Pigeon (Night 22, they spawn everywhere after reaching the dumping grounds. You must sneak up on one to prevent it from flying away)
Endling Trophy Guide Mother Love
Pet your cubs at least once for five days straight.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: start of Night 8

This trophy is missable! After returning to and sleeping in your lair, a new day starts. Remember to pet your cubs each day for 5 straight days by pressing  . You don’t have to pet each cub. Petting one is enough. Repeat for 5 consecutive days. This trophy is missable because there are no lairs in the desert area.

Endling Trophy Guide Barking in the Rain
Bark three times in a row when it’s raining.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: Intro

This trophy is missable! After the initial sequence during which you have to run across the forest on fire, you will meet a deer and fall off a cliff. After emerging from the waste, it will be raining and this is your first opportunity to unlock this trophy. Simply bark three times in a row using :circle: . This trophy is easily missed because there aren’t many rain opportunities in the game and once you reach the desert area you will be unable to bark.

Endling Trophy Guide Peaceful Instinct
Do not kill any animal (fish, mouse, rabbit, pigeon, chicken) for five days.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: end of Night 11

This trophy is missable! This trophy is basically the opposite of :silver: Detox Diet. To avoid killing animals, you must feed your cubs trash food, canned food, berries, and eggs from tree branches. Anything that you need to hunt for like rabbits, mice, or fish must be left alive for five days straight for this trophy to unlock. However, your cubs will unlikely survive with just these food sources. In order for your cubs to survive, they must learn the Dig ability (unmissable, story-related). This will allow them to find additional food sources on their own, allowing them to survive for the required amount of days to unlock this trophy. However, when your cubs learn the Hunt ability, you will see a prompt anytime you approach a scurrying beast asking you if you want your cubs to hunt them. It goes without saying that for this trophy you will want to ignore the prompt and leave the animals be. This trophy is missable because when you reach the desert area, there will be no food sources to hunt for.

Endling Trophy Guide Tasty
Enter your lair with a full stomach.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: end of Night 4

This trophy is missable! To enter your lair with a full stomach, the green bar at the bottom of your screen must already be full before returning to the lair to end the day. This will almost certainly unlock naturally over the course of the game since you basically have to hunt for food sources at all times. However, this trophy is missable because once you reach the desert area, there will be no lairs for you to enter.

Endling Trophy Guide A Barking Fox Doesn’t Bite
Bark at the Roamer.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

Must be unlocked during Night 7

This trophy is missable! As you open more of the map and enough days go by, new orange markers will show up. One of these is the Roamer, a fellow traveler singing by a campfire. When you meet him, bark at him to unlock this trophy. Below is the location screenshot where he spawns if you need it. This trophy is missable because while the Roamer doesn’t disappear from the game after Night 7, the other locations where he spawns after won’t trigger the trophy unlock.

Endling Trophy Guide Detox diet
Don’t feed your cubs trash for six days in a row.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: end of Night 6

This trophy is missable! Around the world, you can find many food sources to feed your cubs with. In addition to wildlife, you can also find trash bags to dig into for food. For this trophy you cannot feed your cubs trash food for 6 days in a row. As a result, hunt wildlife, berries, burgers or eggs instead. To clarify, a day ends anytime you return to your lair. This trophy is missable because when you reach the desert area you won’t be able to feed your cubs any longer.

Endling Trophy Guide You Can Pet The Fox
Let Molly pet you.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: during Night 16

This trophy is missable! You will find Molly during your travels through the forest. Eventually she will appear on your map as a girl’s face and you will first meet her atop a treehouse during Night 15 (unmissable, story-related). She won’t pet you here, but instead only give you an apple. Once you reach Night 16 you will be able to interact with her again and this time you can let her pet you. Alternatively, you can have Molly pet you after saving the Badger’s cub or immediately the night after you reach the dumping ground, the third and final area of the game. This trophy is missable because you won’t be able to interact with Molly once you reach the desert area.

Endling Trophy Guide Chicken Dinner
Hunt a chicken for the first time.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: during Night 16

This trophy is missable! As you explore and open up more of the forest (second game area), you will eventually end up in a chicken farm and a room with lots of chickens hanging on a belt. You can hunt a chicken here. Alternatively, you can find some hidden behind carts or fences later on in the game. If you find one in either of these two locations, bark at them and they will jump out for you to catch them. This trophy is missable because there will be no chickens for you to hunt once you reach the desert area.

Endling Trophy Guide Lullaby
Pet a scared cub.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: Night 17

This trophy is missable! In order to pet a scared cub, you need to have an owl swoop down on and save it before it gets eaten. Then, while the cub icon shows a yellow marker, approach it and press  to pet and calm it down. This trophy is missable unless you create the conditions in which one of your cubs gets scared and there are not many opportunities to unlock it.

Endling Trophy Guide Easter Egg
Have your cubs eat the Easter Egg.
Endling Trophy Guide
MISSABLE

First unlock opportunity: Night 23

This trophy is missable! This trophy can only be unlocked once one of your cubs has learned the Dangle skill. After learning it, travel back to the river area and make your way back to where you fell off the cliff at the start of the game. Instead of going down that path, go down the opposite one until you can see an egg inside a nest past an electricity tower. The screenshot below shows the exact map location of the Easter Egg. With the Dangle ability unlocked, one of your cubs can now grab the egg and unlock this trophy. This trophy is missable because 1) the Dangle skill can be missed, 2) your cubs can die if an owl kills or you starve them and 3) the Easter Egg location cannot be visited after reaching the desert area.
