Chasing Shadows is the ninth subquest in Prologue: Act 2, For A Tomorrow Without Tears, an Archon Quest in Genshin Impact. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Chasing Shadows Archon Subquest.
Chasing Shadows is unlocked automatically when you finish the previous subquest, Behind the Scenes

Mission Description: Infiltrate the Fatui hideout and retrieve the Holy Lyre der Himmel
Objectives:
- Enter the Fatui hideout
- Interrogate the guard
- Scour the Fatui hideout to find the key
- Open the sealed door
- Enter the area where the lyre is stored
- Obtain the Holy Lyre der Himmel
- Talk to Paimon
Starting Location: Angel’s Share Tavern
This quest begins automatically after completing Behind the Scenes.
Enter the Fatui hideout
From the Angel’s Share Tavern, make your way to the cave south of Springvale, where the Fatui hide out.
If you haven’t done much exploring, the easiest ways to get there are either from Windrise or from the Teleport Waypoint just outside of Mondstadt City. See the path outlined in red on the below map:
Unlock the Teleport Waypoint on the small island in the lake and then head southeast to the entrance of the story domain.
Interrogate the guard
Before doing anything, make sure to grab the chest to your immediate right.
The bridge in front of you has three sections that flip, revealing flamethrowers. If you wait until they rotate under the bridge, you should have enough time to sprint across without much issue.
Just to be safe, make sure to sprint by clicking sprint every second instead of holding the button. That way, you benefit from additional bursts of speed with each press of the button.
At the top of the first stairs, look to the left for a broken section in the wall. Go into it to find a chest inside and around the corner. 3 Electro Slimes pop up. Defeat them to open the chest.
Leave through the broken section in the wall and head up the next set of stairs. Go right up the next set of stairs to find a sole Fatui guard next to a locked door. Approach him to start a conversation.
The cowardly Fatui guard tells you everything he knows without you doing much of anything.
Scour the Fatui hideout to find the key
Look at the wall opposite the staircase you climbed to get here. Walk into the broken section of the wall to find another chest.
Now, head up to the locked door and interact with the cube to the left to open the door.
Head down the newly opened path and come out into a large room. Head into the room to your immediate right and speak with the Greed Guard.
He locks you in this room with a Fatui Mage. Defeat her to unlock the door.
Leave that room and turn right. Go past the staircase and then right into a room on a lower level.
Run up to the locked check. Three Electro flies appear. Defeat them to unlock the chest.
Leave this room and go across this open area to the right into another room.
For glowing spots appear throughout the room. Interact with them all, causing three Fire Slimes to attack. Defeat them and leave the room.
Climb two sets of stairs starting on your immediate right, then head right into another room.
Speak to the Timid Guard. He sends a shielded Mitachurl at you. Defeat it to get the Hidden Key needed to proceed.
Open the sealed door
Leave that room. Head to the main floor and interact with the door cube.
Enter the area where the lyre is stored
The camera automatically faces the door you unlocked. Run up the stairs to it and into a new room.
Run toward the cube, climb up to it, and interact with it. The section you stand on turns into an elevator. Hop off and head into the moonlit room.
The Holy Lyre der Himmel sits on a pedestal on the other side of the room. Approach it. A cage drops down on it and a Fatui Zamenhoff challenges you. Defeat it to lift up the cage.
Obtain the Holy Lyre Der Himmel
Run up to the pedestal and pick up the Holy Lyre der Himmel.
Talk to Paimon
After a short conversation, the Chasing Shadows subquest completes. Use the teleport node to exit the domain.
