Introduction

Welcome to the Gex Trilogy Trophy Guide! This collection includes the original 2D sidescroller Gex, as well as the 3D platformers Gex 3D: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. In order to get Platinum, you need to complete each game, as well as perfectly complete 5 Bonus Levels in Gex to unlock a secret world. Gex 3D and Gex 3 have Debug Menus, which if you choose to utilize, can skip the entirety of these games outside of the boss fights. If you choose to do these games normally, you will only need to complete the main content in each level, none of the optional content is required.

None of the games have autosaving, so it is recommended that you save regularly. They also feature a rewind system with :l2: + :r2: .

Step 1: Complete Gex, and the 5 Bonus Levels to access Planet X

In Gex, you will need to complete the game while also finding and completing the 5 Bonus Levels in each of the main worlds. Completing the Bonus Levels with a perfect score is required to unlock Planet X, which is an extra sixth world. The regular levels simply require getting the remote near the end of the level and finishing it. Once you reach the end of the game, make sure you either complete Planet X before you face the last boss, or make a manual save before the fight, as you won’t be able to save after the fight and will need to revert to your last save.

The 5 Bonus Levels for Planet X can be found on the following levels. It is recommended that you save before going into the Bonus Levels, and utilize the rewind with :l2: + :r2: to ensure you get the perfect scores:

  • World 1: Cemetery – Level 1: Frankie and Heli
  • World 2: New Toonland – Level 3: Rock It!
  • World 3: Jungle Isle – Level 2: Congo Chaos
  • World 4: Kung Fuville – Level 1: Sumo City
  • World 5: Rezopolis – Level 2: On The Move

Step 2: Complete Gex 3D: Enter the Gecko

In Gex 3D: Enter the Gecko, you will need to collect 33 Red Remotes to unlock the final boss and defeat them. Red Remotes are the main reward in each level, with every level containing 1-3 Red Remotes. There are also 2 optional Silver Remotes in every level, but these only unlock bonus levels so can be safely ignored. There are a total of 36 Red Remotes from the regular levels, as well as an extra 4 Red Remotes from secret levels. You will only be able to get one Red Remote per playthrough of a level as collecting one will exit the level, so you will need to replay the levels for the remotes.

If you want, you can skip this entirely by using the Debug Menu (which you will need to access once for a trophy anyway). In order to do this, you will want to do the following from the Media Dimension, the hub area:

Pause the game and hold :l2: , then press :left: :circle:   :right: :right: :left: :triangle:

This will enable the debug menu when you press the touchpad. Go down to Collectibles Menu > Remote Cheat and press left to set it to Yes. Now go down to Red Remotes and press right until it reads 33, during which all the gates and bosses will become available. Now you can simply head straight through the Blue Gate to fight the final boss.

Step 3: Complete Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko

In Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko, you will need to collect 30 Remotes to unlock the final boss and defeat them. Each level has 4 Remotes (3 regular, plus 1 for finding all 100 fly coins), plus 5 across the various hub worlds. This makes for a total of 49 Remotes, so you have a heap of leniency when it comes to what Remotes you choose to get. Same as in Enter the Gecko, you will only be able to get one Remote per playthrough of a level as collecting one will exit the level, so you will need to replay the levels for the remotes. There are various other collectibles such as bonus coins to unlock bonus levels and paw coins to increase your total health, but these are entirely optional and are not needed.

If you want, you can skip this almost entirely by using the Debug Menu. In order to do this, you will want to do the following from any of the hub areas:

Pause the game and hold :r2: , then press  :circle: :right:  :left: :right:

This will enable the debug menu when you press the touchpad. Now go down to Collectibles Menu > Remotes and press right until it reads 4, then back out by touching the touchpad again and picking up the free Remote on the stairs in the starting area, which will spawn the Red Paw in the center of the room. Now you can go back into the debug menu and set the Remotes to 30. You will now be able to go into each of the hubs and fight the boss immediately to get the other Red Paws and fight the final boss.

Gex Trilogy Trophy Guide & Roadmap Secrets?!
Complete Planet X in Gex.
Gold
Missable!

Unlike the other worlds which you will progress through naturally, in order to access Planet X you must locate the Secret Level in each of the 5 worlds and complete them with a perfect score to get a broken piece of the Planet X Remote. Once you complete all 5 Secret Levels perfectly and acquire the full remote, simply use it from any hub area to access Planet X, then complete it like any other world. Planet X contains 8 levels which are mostly gimmick challenge levels without a boss.

As Planet X is an optional world and there is no autosaving, it’s possible to miss this if you don’t make manual saves. You can go back to play the levels that contain the bonus levels after playing them, but make a manual save before you fight the final boss if you haven’t done Planet X prior to that as you won’t be able to make a save after the final boss.

World 1: Cemetery – Level 1: Frankie and Heli
Progress through the level until you reach the tutorial (purple question mark) for the polaroid camera checkpoint. Climb the wall to the left of this and there will be several moving platforms you can jump across. Head across these until you arrive at a portal for this Bonus Level.

In this Bonus Level, you will need to jump and tail whip skulls to kill 10 FrankenGeckos. Skulls will be launched up periodically in groups of 2. You will want to jump just before the first skull is launched and spin in as it comes out, then wait until the second skull reaches its peak before you jump and hit that. There’s room to miss about 4-5 skulls, more if you get any double kills. If you’re having any issues with the timing, you can rewind with :l2: + :r2: to give yourself more tries.

World 2: New Toonland – Level 3: Rock It!
Near the beginning of the level at the third rocket platform, where you get the tutorial for how to control the blue rockets. Drop below the platform and there will be a portal to the Bonus Level on a ledge below it.

In this Bonus Level, you will need to bounce off the blue walls to collect 30 Silver Flies. You can rewind with :l2: + :r2: to help you learn the path to take and complete this pretty easily.

World 3: Jungle Isle – Level 2: Congo Chaos
Progress through the level until you reach an indoor area where you are navigating multiple moving spikes in a small area. There will be a health pickup in the middle of a spike moving in a square, and just past that will be two breakable blocks behind a vertical moving spike. Make sure to only break the bottom block, then run through and climb onto the top block to find the portal to the Bonus Level.

In this Bonus Level, you will need to catch 30 falling Silver Flies while on a bridge. You will want to run back and forth to collect these ( :l1: by default), and if you miss any you can utilize the rewind with :l2: + :r2: until you successfully catch them all.

World 4: Kung Fuville – Level 1: Sumo City
This will be pretty late into the level, after you start seeing red water underneath the fireworks. Head across a few stretches of fireworks until you reach a platform with five fireworks leading to a wall right of it and a flying eyeball going up and down above you. Climb the wall to your right, then jump over to the eyeball and bounce on it by holding  , then tapping  when you land on it. You want to land on the platform to the left of the floating eye, where the portal for this Bonus Level is located.

In this Bonus Level, you will need to collect 150 Golden Flies. This is pretty similar to a regular level, with flies grouped up in bunches. It’s best to work your way around the level in counter-clockwise motion, jumping onto the first platform on your left then scaling the wall on the right. This is pretty simple to do, but as usual you can utilize rewind with :l2: + :r2: if needed.

World 5: Rezopolis – Level 2: On The Move
Progress through the level and you’ll cross a series of conveyor belts with a lot of HelliTelly enemies. As you reach the end of it there will be two bubbles floating up together, and some Golden Flies pointing in an arrow to the right. Jump across and climb up, then turn around and jump onto the bubbles and bounce on them by holding  to land on the ledge to the left. The final portal is here.

In this Bonus Level, you will need to tail whip 27-30 Barrels as they drop onto conveyor belts. Unlike previous Bonus Levels, you do not have to get a perfect score, 27 will still get you the Remote piece. Try to stay in the middle between the two conveyor belts and only change your direction for the next barrel by tapping left or right. There are more than 30 barrels so you can miss a handful and still get 27. Same as with the previous bonuses, the rewind can be very helpful here.

Story-related. Cannot be missed.

In order to complete Gex 3D: Enter the Gecko, you must collect 33 Red Remotes from completing the regular levels and beat the 4 bosses. Red Remotes are acquired in the regular levels, with each level having 1-3 Red Remotes. When starting a level, you will be prompted with 3 options to select from which will give you an idea of how/where to find that Red Remote. There are also 2 Silver Remotes in each level, but these are only needed for bonus levels and are entirely optional.

There are 36 Red Remotes in the regular levels, and another 4 in secret levels, meaning you can skip a few Red Remotes and still get enough to fight the final boss. You can only get 1 Red Remote at a time when playing a level, so you will need to play levels 3 times to get all Red Remotes.

If you want, you can skip this entirely by using the Debug Menu. In order to do this, you will want to do the following from the Media Dimension, the hub area:

Pause the game and hold :l2: , then press :left: :circle:   :right: :right: :left: :triangle:

This will enable the debug menu when you press the touchpad. Now go down to Collectibles Menu > Remote Cheat and press left to set it to Yes. Gold
Story-related. Cannot be missed.

In order to complete Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko, you must collect 30 Remotes from completing the regular levels and beat the 3 bosses. Remotes are acquired in the regular levels, with each level having 4 Remotes, 3 from regular gameplay and 1 from obtaining all 100 coin flies in the level. When starting a level, you will be prompted with 3 options to select from which will give you an idea of how/where to find that Remote. There are also Bonus Coins and Paw Coins in each level, but these are only needed for bonus levels and increasing your max health respectively are entirely optional.

There are 49 Remotes in the regular levels and hub worlds meaning you have a huge amount of leniency on which Remotes you choose to get before you fight the final boss. You can only get 1 Remote at a time when playing a level (2 including the Coin Fly Remote), so you will need to play levels 3 times to get all Remotes.

If you want, you can skip this almost entirely by using the Debug Menu. In order to do this, you will want to do the following from any of the hub areas:

Pause the game and hold :r2: , then press  :circle: :right:  :left: :right:
