Master of the Shamishen is a sensei tale in Ghost of Yotei. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Master of the Shamishen side quest.

- Quest Info: People speak of a garden on the Yotei River, kept by a shamisen master. I remember going there as a child.
Objectives:
- Visit the garden
- Trim the overgrown bamboo
- Explore the garden to revisit memories
- Follow Master Heijiro
Starting Location: Master of the Shamishen
Approach the “Familiar Location” at Master Heijiro’s Garden. It looks like a yellow tree. Then Atsu will say something and the tale gets pinned to your map.
Visit the garden
Go to the “Familiar Location” at Master Heijiro’s Garden, when you’re near the yellow tree hold the Touchpad to go back to the past. Speak to your mother crouching down on the cliff edge near the building.
Trim the overgrown bamboo
Follow the woman down the cliff to the area with some small rocks in the pond. You have to cut down 3 x 2 bamboo trees with your sword. Afterward, talk to your mother.
Explore the garden to revisit memories
Next, you need to swap between the past and present to revisit memories by holding Touchpad. The guiding wind will lead to the locations. The memory will be marked by whirling leaves and a blue silhouette.
The first is in the north-east of the area, past the water at a tree near the exit:
Go back to the past and carry the pot down the small hill to the water.
The second is next to a small bamboo bridge in the north of the area.
Follow your mother to plant a sapling in the grass.
Follow Master Heijiro
After the cutscene, follow Heijiro up the steps, around the house and to the two circular seats on the cliff edge. Press 
to start the Shamisen minigame where you swipe using the Touchpad to play the right notes.
After finding three notes, there will be a cutscene and after it you’ll learn a new song – Song of Spirit.
This finishes Master of the Shamishen in Ghost of Yotei.
