God of War – Tyr’s Temple Collectible Locations

April 24, 2018 by PowerPyx 1 Comment

Tyr’s Temple contains 10 Collectible Locations in God of War (2018, PS4). This walkthrough will guide you to all the collectibles in Tyr’s Temple Region in chronological order. Everything that’s needed for trophies and 100% completion is included. Nothing is missable, everything can be collected after the story.

  • Lore Markers: 3
  • Legendary Chests: 2
  • Nornir Chests: 1
  • Mystic Gateways: 1
  • Purple Language Cipher Chests: 2 (not tracked)
  • Jötnar Shrines: 1 (Bergelmir, not tracked)

Tyr’s Temple is inaccessible until late into the game! You can get everything on your first visits to each part of the temple, but know that these require a lot of story progress. The second temple part is at the very end of the story. You might as well ignore this area until you have beaten the game, you can’t complete it much sooner than that anyway. Also for spoiler reasons you may want to hold off from reading this until you’re done with the story.

Video Guide

Tyr’s Temple has two large areas inside (under) the temple — the two you visit during the story. The first is with the sand-bowl that activates an elevator going down. The second is where you go to later in the story, with the upside-down tree where you got to destroy two big chains and then turn the tree around.

Part 1: Portal, where the Blacksmith is

#1 – Mystic Gateway 1/1 – 0:05
We’re starting in the main hub area of the game, the room where Brok’s shop is. The Mystic Gateway is across from his shop in plain sight. You’ll go there multiple times during the story. After he gives you the fast travel stone you can interact with the gate.

Part 2: First Temple Part (with Sand-Bowl Elevator)

#2 – Legendary Chest 1/2 – 0:27
Exit Brok’s shop and go down the stairs on the left or right (doesn’t matter which side). There’s a door you can go through, behind it is a sand-bowl. Have Atreus interact with it and it will take you further down into the Temple. After exiting the elevator on the ground floor, the legendary chest is found on the left side. Easy to spot.

#3 – Nornir Chest 1/1 (Health Upgrade) – 1:42
Same area as before — it’s in a backroom straight ahead from where you exited the elevator, at the end of the area behind a spike trap coming out of the wall. It’s a bit hard to see because the spike trap hides it from sight and you never go to this chest during the story path. As usual, 3 runes must be destroyed to open it. Luckily, there’s no time limit. One is under the spike-wall trap directly by the chest (you may have to throw the axe to freeze one of the spikes). The second is in the circular room before the Nornir chest, on the side. The third is also visible from the room before the Nornir chest. There’s a tunnel with spike traps crashing down from the ceiling. On top of one of those ceiling-spike traps is a rune, pretty well hidden. You can only see this one when it comes crashing to the floor.

#4 – Lore Marker 1/3 – 3:24
Still in the same area, but in the main room with the big ball hanging from the ceiling (where you exited the elevator), you can climb up a wall. On top is the lore marker.

Part 3: Second Temple Part (Upside-Down Tree with two Chains, the Platform you need to turn around in the story)
You go to this area at the very end of the game. In order to get to it, exit the previous area so you’re back outside the Temple. You can run around the circle on the outside, by the water, until you reach a door at the end of the temple. So it’s essentially on the side of the temple, on the level where you would enter your boat. You can still get back here and reach all collectibles after the story.

#5 – Jötnar Shrine 1/1 (Bergelmir) – 4:28
First, be sure to follow the instructions in the paragraph above to get to the second temple part. Initially, you’re in one huge circular room but on the walls are some doors. Just run all around it until you find an exit door. Whichever door you find, they all lead to the same elevator. After taking the elevator the Jötnar shrine is found behind the elevator at the bottom floor.

#6 – Purple Language Cipher Chest 1/2 – 6:16
From the Jötnar shrine there are two paths with traps. One with saw blades, one with spiky ceiling traps. We’re taking the path with the spiky ceiling traps first. At the end of it is a purple chest and lore marker.

#7 – Lore Marker 2/3 – 7:03
Nex to the purple language cipher chest.

#8 – Legendary Chest 2/2 – 7:14
Backtrack to the Jotnar shrine. Now take the second path with the saw blade traps. At the halfpoint of that path is a door in which you can put a green energy ball (Winds of Hel). If the green energy is not in the door already, you can grab it from one of the traps or “energy holder” in the area. Behind that door is the legendary chest.

#9 – Purple Language Cipher Chest 2/2 – 8:37
At the end of the saw blade path.

#10 – Lore Marker 3/3 – 9:04
At the end of the saw blade path.

That’s 100% of the collectibles you can find in Tyr’s Temple area in God of War.

Next Up: Thamur’s Corpse
