The Path to Hogwarts is the first main quest in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Path to Hogwarts Main Mission.
Requirement: None, this is the game’s starting main quest
Reward: Lumos, Protego, Revelio
Quest Info: After a dragon attacked our carriage to Hogwarts, Professor Fig and I happened upon a private entrance to Gringotts Wizarding Bank that was only visible to me. In one of the bank’s oldest vaults, we witnessed a Pensieve memory, left behind by an ancient wizard called Percival Rackham, who could see the same sorts of magic that I see. A goblin called Ranrok tried to take the locket we’d found, but we narrowly escaped with it and our lives. It seems the fate of the entire wizarding world may rest on my shoulders. I have much to learn at Hogwarts, and not much time to do it.

As soon as you’re able to interact with your character, press to heal and then move the right stick to examine your surroundings.

Destroy the Magical Barrier

Follow Professor Fig
Slide down the cave tunnel and resume following the Professor. If you’d like, you can practice your wandwork on the urns on the ground. Climb up the ledge, but don’t follow Professor Fig to the right just yet. Instead, make a slight detour to your left for a chest behind a wall for some Galleons.
Then, reunite with Fig and keep following him along the stone bridge he used Reparo on. After crossing the bridge, immediately go right for another chest.
Explore the Ruins
Fig asks you to explore your surroundings to find out why the Portkey led you here. The Minimap shows your surroundings, with you, marked by a violet arrow, in the middle. The yellow marker shows the current objective. You can also hold for more information on your current quest. Before heading to the yellow marker, feel free to investigate the statue and the mural in the area.
Then, when you’re ready, proceed to the back of the ruins where the yellow marker and an enchanted crystallized stone are. Now wait for Fig to join you.
Interact with Magic
When prompted, press to interact with the mirror. Interacting with it will magically warp you to Gringotts Wizarding Bank.
Wake the Goblin

To learn Revelio, steady your want with the left stick and guide it along the symbol’s path to learn the spell. As you guide it, press the corresponding input when prompted to accelerate your wand’s motion along the symbol’s path. If you’re not fast enough, a red spark will catch up with you, but you can always try again. Once you’ve learned it, you can cast Revelio with . Approach the door and cast Revelio to reveal a door with the key symbol.
Proceed into the Vault
Open the door to continue on.
Stay Close to Professor Fig
You will now be in a dark hall. Luckily though, Professor Fig will cast Lumos for us, allowing us to get our bearings. Stay close to Fig and soon enough you will see the same glow from before on the ground.
Interact with Magic
Approach the glow and press to interact with it.
Determine How to Proceed
Approach the reflection and then cast Revelio to reveal a statue above ground. After some brief dialogue with Fig, you’ll be able to learn a second spell, Lumos. Same as before, steady your wand with the left stick and guide it along the symbol’s path to learn the spell. Don’t forget to hold the left stick in the direction of the shape and press the corresponding input when prompted to gain speed. You’ve now learned Lumos, the Wand-Lighting Charm. Lumos creates a light at the tip of your wand to help you see in dark areas. To cast Lumos, hold / and tap / to cast or extinguish it.
Discover the Statue’s Secret
Immediately after casting Lumos, you will notice how the statue’s projection in now pointing you. To discover the statue’s secret, you need to face the statue above the ground so that it matches with the reflection thereunder. Face the statue until it is completely standing and get ready to press / to cast Protego.
Protego Incoming Enemy Attacks
You’re now surrounded by several Guardian statues wanting to make quick work of you. To meet this objective, let them charge their attack and when the prompt appears on screen, press it to cast Protego. Repeat the same thing twice more to continue with the next objective.
Tap to Destroy States with Basic Cast
As soon as you’ve used Protego three times, you can finish the statues off with Basic Cast. Simply / to lock on an enemy and then tap to eliminate all statues, pressing when prompted to parry.
Stay Close to Professor Fig

Find Professor Fig
Cast Lumos ( + / + ) and follow the wisps of magic to find another glowing pool.
Interact with Magic
Approach the glow and press to interact with it.
Activate the Statues
Now you have to do the exact same thing as before, just slightly differently. First, face the statue that’s the furthest back and cast Revelio. Then, cast Lumos and follow the string of light until it intersects with the strings of light from the other two statues. Standing at the intersection will make all three statues stand at the same time, thus solving the puzzle.
Tap to Destroy States with Basic Cast
Same as before, use Basic Cast to destroy the Guardian statues, with the occasional use of Protego to parry their attacks and protect yourself. You can also hold / when casting Protego to stun enemies with a Stupefy counter-attack. Stunned enemies take extra damage, indicated by gold numbers.
Find Professor Fig
Once all Guardian statues have been dealt with, you can resume your search for Professor Fig. Again, cast Lumos and follow the wisps of light until you get to the key symbol where another glowing pool you can interact with awaits you.
Interacting with the glow spawns a portal you can walk through.
Walk through the portal and then check both sides of the room for a chest. If you use Revelio, these will be glowing gold. Once you’ve opened both chests, approach the Pensieve in the middle of the room to trigger a new cutscene.

Jeroen says
Before waking up the gobelin there is a small chest in the left side of the room to be found.
I also managed to find 3 small chests in the Stay close to the professor Fig and the Determine How to Proceed parts.
I will play that part again to make sure where those 3 chests are
Christina says
Thank you for mentioning the chest in Gringotts. I’d always missed that one before. As to the other three chests, I can confirm that they are indeed there. I found them in the darkness, using Revelio to highlight them, while searching for Prof. Fig between fights with the statues.
