Introduction
Welcome to the Kao the Kangaroo Trophy Guide! Kao the Kangaroo is a reimagination of the platformer franchise from the early 2000s. You can expect lots of fun exploration, hidden collectibles, and some platforming challenges. Unorthodoxly though, you won’t have to collect all collectible types to earn all trophies. For the Platinum, you just need to find all KAO letters, all Runes, all Eternal Wells and Heart Fragments. Feel free to check our Kao the Kangaroo All Collectible Locations. Scrolls, Gems, and Chests aren’t required for any trophy, but, especially Chests award you with loads of coins that are needed for two other trophies, so make it a priority to never ignore these. The other trophies are unmissable and story-related with just a couple related to combat.
Step 1: Play through the story while collecting as much as you can
You can earn the Platinum trophy in one single step! Just finish the story and as you play through the levels, grab as many collectibles as you can to avoid too much backtracking. Feel free to follow our Kao the Kangaroo All Collectible Locations Guide. Following it as you play through the game will net you everything in one playthrough without any backtracking and you will have the Platinum after defeating the final boss.
Step 2: Clean-up (Optional)
During this step, you might need to grab some left-behind KAO letters and Heart Fragments or find remaining Eternal Wells. You shouldn’t have to do any clean-up if you’ve followed our Kao the Collectible Guide.

Unmissable, story-related. This trophy unlocks after defeating Terror. This boss fight has three different phases.
Phase 1: simply avoid his incoming attacks and punch him when his head starts reeling. Repeat this twice more. Phase 2: avoid his tornados and when you see blue stones on the ground, pick one up and throw it at the chandelier. Repeat this twice more. Another day at the office Defeat Jayabaya |
![]() |
Unmissable, story-related. This trophy unlocks after defeating Jayabaya. This boss fight has three different phases.
Phase 1: simply avoid his attacks and spam your punches when you have an opening. Phase 2: get rid of the enemies first. Then, pick up a fire charge and use your air tail spin attack to deflect the incoming barrels to return them to Jayabaya. Repeat this twice more. Phase 3: the third phase is very similar to the first, with the only difference that Jayabaya uses different attacks. The one you only need to watch out for is when he puts his shield up and spams purple waves at you. When he does that, you need to locate the crystal that deactivates the shield and destroy it. |

When she stops and you see an icon above her head, go in and throw a few punches. Repeat twice more. |

Find’em All Collect all the Kaopedia entries about Foes |
![]() |
Unmissable, story-related. Each level has different enemy types. When you kill an enemy type for the first or second time, this will drop a scroll and unlock its entry in the Kaopedia. For this trophy you need to collect all foe-related scrolls, so make it a habit to kill foes anytime you see any. This trophy should unlock halfway through the level called The Sparkly Funfair.

Health Insurance Have 20 lives in total |
![]() |
To unlock this trophy, your life counter has to show 20. While you can find 1-2 lives in each level, most of them will have to be bought from any of the vendors found across the hub worlds. Each life costs 500 Ducats and you can buy as many as you want, provided that you have the right amount of Ducats. If a store runs out of lives, travel to any other hub world or level to spawn them again. If you’ve been thoroughly collecting Ducats, you should be able to unlock this trophy by the end of The Hungry Jungle. Once your counter reaches 20 lives, this trophy will unlock. | ||

Fatality Defeat five enemies at once with a finisher |
![]() |
The best place to achieve this is in The Dark Forest level. Halfway through the level you will reach an area with lots of Frogster enemies, most of which are on a performing stage. Lure them all to you and land one punch to each one of them to weaken them first, ensuring you don’t get hit as this will deplete your rage bar. After you’ve filled up your rage bar, make sure that they’re all relatively close to each other and when you see the ![]() |

Mystery of the Volcano Wear an outfit from Kao 3 |
![]() |
To unlock this trophy, you need to buy two specific items of clothing from any of the vendors found across the different hub worlds. From the first row you need to buy the fourth item from the left (hat, 750 Ducats) and from the second row you need to buy the fourth item from the left (brown shirt, 750 Ducats). This outfit is a callback to Kao the Kangaroo 3: Mystery of the Volcano. |
Sisko says
Fatality seems to be glitched on PS4!
FranciRoosters says
Yes, it seems like it.
Billy says
I got the final heart piece and it now reads that I have 10 total. However, the trophy didn’t pop for me. I’ve tried everything I can to get it to pop since, but it’s useless. What a disappointing experience to be screwed out of a trophy for no reason. 🙁
Sisko says
same here, reloaded a previous cloud save and popped -.-‘
nethafd says
same…
did you buy the last heart piece or find it in the worlds? i see reports that if you buy the last heart pieces it may not pop.
TrophyVerse says
Does ps4 version dont have trophies?
PowerPyx says
It does, Sony just hasn’t put the PS4 list on servers yet, hence it doesn’t sync yet. You can already earn the trophies and they are stored offline on your PS4. Once Sony puts the list live you can sync it retroactively and the trophies will show up in your profile.
Alexaner says
The Kao trophy wont pop in my Ps5
T says
Here the same!
Rinzewind says
Happened to me as well… Had to do a new playthrough focussing only on the KAO letters, runes and some heart pieces to get it to pop.
Crona says
the trophy ”beteende worlds” doesn’t pop up after beating all 14 wells. will try to beat all of them again and see of it pops up!
(the ps5 version)
Crona says
did them again and the trophy poped!
Ja9uAr says
I’ve collected every single KAO letter yet the trophy won’t pop up! :/
hiryu says
For me KAO letters and health hearts glitched :/
Tried without patch but crystal caverns level is so broken it cannot be finished. And that was the level with the last letter. Mess of a game
YoungD says
Just adding to what others have said, the majority of trophies are bugged. For the wells/scrolls, you can just redo any well or collect a random scroll. But for the KAO letter, heart fragments and runes, you’re out of luck as it seems the game needs to register another example of you collecting one of the items for it to pop the trophy.
Overall, a teribbly buggy game. I made a new save file to try and speed run the collectibles, but one of the letters didnt count as registered and now has disappeared from the game, making it impossible for me to get all the letters. This happened on the SECOND level!
majoreasy says
The find em all trophy is bugged on ps5, the pogo enemy scroll didn’t unlock and have tried beating it numerous times as well
Nick says
Same here. I replayed the entire game got all scrolls and trophy still hasn’t popped
Veloxplayer098 says
The 20 life trophy didn’t spawn for me on PS5, I had 25 lives.
Veloxplayer098 says
I closed the game and came back the Day After. After collecting a life in the Durian Valley It unlocked.
Nick says
Find ’em all trophy is bugged for me on PS5. I’m missing terror scroll. I beat him around 20 times and it wont drop
Funkmachine08 says
The terror data is actually supposed to pop by grabbing the scroll in front of his lair. There isn’t one that drops from him.
Luke says
How do you do level select? I beat the game but need to go back for some collectibles
hiryu says
The same as starting them for the first time ;)
There is level selector in menu but it doesn’t work so you need to travel to any hub and then to level where you missed something.
Good luck!
FranciRoosters says
You can revisit any level from the hub worlds you find them in.
Dex says
The Find Em All trophy is definitely bugged on the PS5. The only one I am missing is the scroll in front of Terror’s lair. But it hasn’t been there at all.
Is the only solution here to play the whole game again? Just for that one trophy.
majoreasy says
For me its the scroll for the pogo bouncer which doesn’t drop
GoDlike says
Fatality is also glitched on Xbox Series X
Tommy land says
Anyone have the bug in the crystal caverns where the crystals at the end won’t slide across the ice? Did you find any fix?
hiryu says
Yes. Update the game. On 1.00 it does not work. Crystals move only a bit.
Dancutus says
Flawless victory is bugged for me on ps5.
Michael Appleby says
Fatality trophy still bugged as of 24/06/22 on PS4 edition. Waiting on a patch from the devs. Feels like it should be here by now
Jaryd says
Hey guys
Any idea when ps4 trophy fatality will be fixed? Or anyone heard anything.
So frustrating
Michael Appleby says
Still not heard anything as of 08/07/2022 🙁
Frustrating as im waiting to give the game to a sibling!
Michael Appleby says
Seems they are aware of the issue and are going to be issuing an update this month..
