Silent Hill f All Puzzle Solutions Guide

This guide shows all puzzles in Silent Hill f with their locations and solutions. It will provide solutions for all difficulties and all endings. All puzzles with have a set solution for each difficulty, except puzzles in Shimizu Residence and Treasure Hall, which will have set solutions for each ending, regardless of difficulty.

This guide lists them in chronological order by chapter.

Shrine Path

Altar Puzzle

Story Difficulty – You will need to place the five offerings on the altar pedestals in the correct order. Each pedestal will have an image of a knot, which you can see on the items by examining them with :triangle: . The correct order is as follows:

  • Back Left: Rat
  • Back Right: Fish
  • Front Left: Kimono
  • Front Middle: Vase
  • Front Right: Paper Fan

Hard Difficulty – Each pedestal will have an image of a plant, which you can see on the items by examining them with :triangle: and rotating them. The correct order is as follows:

  • Back Left: Fish
  • Back Right: Kimono
  • Front Left: Paper Fan
  • Front Middle: Vase
  • Front Right: Rat

Lost in the Fog Difficulty – Each item will represent flora, with the answer for each hidden in the note. The correct order is as follows:

  • Back Left: Fish
  • Back Right: Rat
  • Front Left: Paper Fan
  • Front Middle: Kimono
  • Front Right: Vase

Shrine Vault Puzzle

Story Difficulty – You will need to look at the wooden ema hanging from the shrines to find the ones with the images of a crane, serpent and tortoise. There will be one correct ema in each section (two sections in the west and one in the south where you encounter the new enemy). When you find one, hold :l1: and press :cross: to flip it and find the correct symbol. These will be marked in your journal for your reference.

  • Crane: Circle with a horizontal line through it
  • Serpent: Circle with a vertical line through it
  • Tortoise: Snake with a V underneath the head

Hard Difficulty – You will need to look at the wooden ema hanging from the shrines to find the ones with the images of lightning, a decayed tree and kudzu (green leaves with purple flower). There will be one correct ema in each section (two sections in the west and one in the south where you encounter the new enemy). When you find one, hold :l1: and press :cross: to flip it and find the correct symbol.

  • Lightning: Circle with two vertical lines inside it
  • Decayed Tree: Circle with a cross through it
  • Kudzu: Square with a T through the middle

Lost in the Fog Difficulty – You will need to look at the wooden ema hanging from the shrines to find the ones with the images of Yokai (spirits), which look like household objects with demonic features: Yokai of the Carriage, Yokai of the Umbrella and Yokai of the Kettle. There will be one correct ema in each section (two sections in the west and one in the south where you encounter the new enemy). When you find one, hold :l1: and press :cross: to flip it and find the correct symbol. Each one will have four symbols on them, and you will need to find the correct symbol for the lock by referencing the clue for that Yokai.

  • Yokai of the Carriage: Circle with two vertical lines inside it
  • Yokai of the Umbrella: Circle with upside down Y through it
  • Yokai of the Kettle: Snake with a V underneath the head

 

Ebisugaoka Second Visit

Field Puzzle

Story Difficulty – You will need to find the correct scarecrow and remove the needle from it, then it will point you in the correct direction to walk. You will need to do this multiple times until you escape the field. If you choose an incorrect scarecrow, it will attack you. The correct scarecrow will always be the one that matches your character, Hinako. It will have short hair and a red tie.

  • 1st Area: On the left, holding a sickle.
  • 2nd Area: In the middle, not holding any sickles.
  • 3rd Area: On the right, with her head upside down.
  • 4th Area: In the middle, with her arms out and looking sideways.
  • 5th Area: At the back of the area, strung up like on a cross.

Hard Difficulty – You will need to find the correct scarecrow and remove the needle from it, then it will point you in the correct direction to walk. You will need to do this multiple times until you escape the field. If you choose an incorrect scarecrow, it will attack you. The correct scarecrow will always be one of your friends (except the last one), and relate to the prompt in each area.

  • 1st Area: Behind and to the left of the starting scarecrow, with a smile and mask on the back of her head.
  • 2nd Area: In the middle, with a sickle stabbed into her back.
  • 3rd Area: In the back, the scarecrow that is not being looked at by another.
  • 4th Area: On the right, with a frown.
  • 5th Area: In the middle back, strung up like on a cross and with a sickle in her back.

Lost in the Fog Difficulty – You will need to find the correct scarecrow and remove the needle from it, then it will point you in the correct direction to walk. You will need to do this multiple times until you escape the field. If you choose an incorrect scarecrow, it will attack you. The correct scarecrow will relate to the prompt in each area.

  • 1st Area: To the left of the starting scarecrow, with her head upside down.
  • 2nd Area: In the back of the area, strung up like on a cross with the sickle in the ground.
  • 3rd Area: Behind the corpse of the scarecrow that is on the ground, holding no sickle.
  • 4th Area: In the middle, between the scarecrows of Shu and Rinko looking at each other.
  • 5th Area: There will be four corpses lying in the fields, follow the direction their arms are pointing until you reach a lonesome scarecrow.

Ebisugaoka Middle School

Stairwell Puzzle

Story Difficulty – In order to open the locked drawer in the teachers’ storage room, you must first go into the one open classroom and pick up the scrunched-up paper. This will tell you that you can open it with a hairpin. Climb out the window and crawl into the rabbit hutch in the corner to find the hairpin in the basket. With this, you can open the drawer and obtain the key for the Second Floor.

 

Hard Difficulty – Go outside via the window in the classroom. Head to the west section of the outside area to find a patch of blue flowers, where you will find the key for the Second Floor.

 

Lost in the Fog Difficulty – Go outside via the window in the classroom. Head to the west section of the outside area, then go up the stairs and back east to find some potted blue flowers, where you will find the key for the Second Floor.

 

Secret Box Puzzle

Story Difficulty – For this puzzle, you will need to use the hints provided in the letters to unlock three tiers of the Secret Puzzle Box. Each tier will give you a new letter with a new hint. For reference, Side 1 is the side the puzzle starts on.

  • Puzzle 1: You will need to slide one panel on each side of the box to open it, with the sweet and tart fruits exposed.
    • Side 1: Bottom Row
    • Side 2: Top Row
  • Puzzle 2: Now you will need to show all of the journals to open the next part.
    • Side 1: Second and Third Row
    • Side 2: Second Row
  • Puzzle 3: For this you will need to show the Sakura in Full Bloom, of which there is only one.
    • Side 1: No Change
    • Side 2: Third Row

    • Side 2: Middle Right, Bottom Right
  • Puzzle 3: For this you will need to show the Sakura in Full Bloom.
    • Side 1: Middle Right
    • Side 2: Top Right, Bottom Right

Lost in the Fog Difficulty – For this puzzle, you will need to use the hints provided in the letters to unlock three tiers of the Secret Puzzle Box. Each tier will give you a new letter with a new hint. For reference, Side 1 is the side the puzzle starts on. White Row will refer to the lighter wooden pieces that can be moved, while Brown Row will refer to the darker pieces.

  • Puzzle 1: You will need to slide one panel on each side of the box to open it, with the sweet and tart fruits exposed.
    • Side 1: First White Row (Orange), Third Left Brown Row (Apple)
    • Side 2: First Left Brown Row (Cherries), Second Right Brown Row (Strawberry), Third Right Brown Row (Grapes), Fourth White Row (Pineapple)
  • Puzzle 2: Now you will need to show all of the journals to open the next part.
    • Side 1: First White Row, Second White Row, Second Left Brown Row, Fourth White Row
    • Side 2: Third Left Brown Row
  • Puzzle 3: For this you will need to show the Sakura in Full Bloom.
    • Side 1: First Left Brown Row, Third White Row, Third Right Brown Row
    • Side 2: First Left Brown Row

Locker Puzzle

The secret code for figuring out the lockers codes can be found by reading various notes throughout the Annex. Letters will translate directly to numbers, ie A = 4, I = 1. The codes will be same on both difficulties (except Asakura Ayumi), the main difference are the hints you are provided.

  • Aoi Takeshi: AOI – 401
  • Asakura Ayumi:
    • Story: SEA – 534
    • Hard: BUS – 865
    • Lost in the Fog: EGG – 399
  • Suga Yosie: SOS – 505
  • Tsuchiya Taiko: 377

Worship Hall

Light Puzzle

Story Difficulty – There will be two rabbit and fox statues, one of each on two platforms. You will need to rotate them so all cages are level, then you will be able to grab lantern shades from the cages. Use these on the lights to access the key.

  • Left Platform: Fox and Rabbit facing each other
  • Right Platform: Fox and Rabbit facing each other

Memories Puzzle

This isn’t really a puzzle, you just have to play through the area and collect Shu’s Prized Possessions, then place them on the empty pedestals. The only difference between difficulties is how many possessions you need to find.

Shimizu Residence

Scales Puzzle

Story Difficulty (Ending 1) – You will need to place the five dolls on the scales to balance them.

  • Left Scale – Headless Doll
  • Right Scale – All other dolls

Ending 2 – You will need to place the five dolls on the scales to balance them.

  • Left Scale – Headless Doll, Half Mask Doll
  • Right Scale – All other dolls

Ending 3 – You will need to place the five dolls on the scales to balance them.

  • Left Scale – Hinako Doll (blue shirt), Half Mask Doll
  • Right Scale – All other dolls

Ending 4 – You will need to place the five dolls on the scales to balance them.

  • Left Scale – Hinako Doll (blue shirt)
  • Right Scale – All other dolls

Ominous Photo Puzzle

Ending 1 – Place the photo of Hinako on the empty space in the Photo Room. Rotate all the photos to be upright, except Hinako’s, which needs to be upside down.

Ending 2 – Place the photo of Hinako on the empty space in the Photo Room. Rotate the photos of Hinako and her parents to be upright, then turn the photos of her friends upside down.

Ending 3 – Place the photo of Hinako on the empty space in the Photo Room. Rotate the photos of Hinako, Shu and Sakuko upright, then turn the photos of Hinako’s parents and Rinko upside down.

Ending 4 – Place the photo of Hinako on the empty space in the Photo Room. Rotate the photo of Hinako upright, then turn the photos of everyone else upside down.

My Room Puzzle

Ending 1 – Once you have the three crests, you will need to place them on the plaque in front of Hinako’s Room in the first area.

  • Left Spot – Swords
  • Right Spot – Fox
  • Top Spot – Heavens
  • Bottom Spot – Nothing (flip Scales with :square: )

Ending 2 – Once you have the three crests, you will need to place them on the plaque in front of Hinako’s Room in the first area.

  1. Left Spot – Scales
  2. Right Spot – Black Bird (flip Swords with :square: )
  3. Top Spot – Fox
  4. Bottom Spot – Nothing (flip Heavens with :square: )

Ending 3 – Once you have the three crests, you will need to place them on the plaque in front of Hinako’s Room in the first area.

  1. Left Spot – White Bird (flip Fox with :square: )
  2. Right Spot – Scales
  3. Top Spot – Swords
  4. Bottom Spot – Nothing (flip Heavens with :square: )

Ending 4 – Once you have the three crests, you will need to place them on the plaque in front of Hinako’s Room in the first area.

  1. Left Spot – White Bird (flip Fox with :square: )
  2. Right Spot – Black Bird (flip Swords with square: )
  3. Top Spot – Nothing (flip Scales with :square: )
  4. Bottom Spot – Heavens

Treasure Hall

Mural Puzzle

Ending 1 – Place the three crests into the correct spot in the mural.

  • Fox Mask Crest in far left slot, image of a Fox with a fan
  • White Sparrow Crest in top middle slot, image of a Fox pulling a lantern
  • Black Sparrow Crest in the slot to the right of this, image of a Fox pulling a rope

Ending 2 – Place the three crests into the correct spot in the mural.

  • Fox Mask Crest in far left slot, image of a Fox with a fan
  • Black Sparrow Crest in the slot directly next to that, image of a lantern dangling from a red-roofed cage
  • White Sparrow Crest in bottom middle slot, image of a resting Fox

Ending 3 – Place the three crests into the correct spot in the mural.

  • Fox Mask Crest in top left slot, image of a Fox holding up a lantern
  • White Sparrow Crest in bottom right slot, image of a running Fox
  • Black Sparrow Crest in the slot directly next to that.

Ending 4 – Place the three crests into the correct spot in the mural.

  • Fox Mask Crest in top left slot, image of a Fox holding up a lantern
  • Black Sparrow Crest in the slot directly below that, in the red cage
  • White Sparrow Crest in the slot directly below that, image of a lantern dangling from a red-roofed cage

Main Hall (New Game+)

Crimson Water Puzzle

Behind the Inari-sama Door. Down by the water is a stone you can read with this puzzle on it. You need to ring 3 of the 5 bells in the area in a specific order. You will have to ring the bells one at a time, once every time the water fountain in the middle of the water tips and makes the loud clacking sound. Each bell will have a lantern on them with a symbol, which indicates the order to ring them.

  • Bell 1: Volcano, up near the temple entrance
  • Bell 2: Water, on the small island next to the puzzle stone
  • Bell 3: Tree, on the stone bridge on the right path
