Sniper Elite 4 Trophy Guide & Roadmap

February 14, 2017 by PowerPyx 36 Comments

Sniper Elite 4 Trophy Roadmap

  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 5/10
  • Approximate amount of time to platinum: 20 hours (with trophy guide)
  • Trophies: 43 (31trophy, 10trophy, 2trophy)
  • Online Trophies: 8 (7trophy, 1trophy) – A Bird in the Hand…, Greatest Hits, The Collector, Compounding Your Success, Train, Set and Match, Competitive Nature, Channel Changer, Platinum Trophy
  • Number of missable trophies: 0 (can do everything via mission select)
  • Glitched trophies: 0 (see end of roadmap for other glitch info)
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, have to beat it on authentic
  • Minimum Playthroughs: 1 (2 recommended)

Step 1: Beat All 8 Story Missions on Easy + Find All Collectibles + 2 Online Co-Op Overwatch Missions

Even though authentic difficulty is unlocked from the start I highly recommend you do a playthrough on easy first. The reason being that objectives don’t show up on authentic so you would have trouble finding your way around. Playing on easy is also much better for getting collectibles out of the way. On easy you don’t have to worry about bullet ballistics. Wherever you aim is where the bullet will hit. The game is fairly short with only 8 story missions. You need the following Collectibles: Deadeye Targets, Sniper Reports, Letters to Home, Letters from Home, Lost Letters. You can check your collectible progress at any time by pausing the game. For the trophies you must also find the collectibles from the two online Overwatch Co-Op missions (there’s no local split screen, it requires an internet connection)! So 8 Story Missions plus 2 Co-Op Overwatch Missions, all of which contain collectibles. You don’t need to find collectibles again if you die, they are saved instantly.

Feel free to use these Playlists along the way: Sniper Elite 4 Trophy Guide Playlist, Sniper Elite 4 Collectibles Playlist

Step 2: Authentic difficulty without manual saves

The trophy “Are You Insane?” requires you to beat the highest difficulty setting “authentic”. The trophy “The Best of the Best of the Best” adds another twist because you are not allowed to make manual saves. You are, however, allowed to reload auto-saves and checkpoints. On authentic the HUD is disabled and bullet ballistics are realistic, meaning you must account for distance to target, bullet drop, wind direction etc.

Step 3: Multiplayer Trophies

There are two multiplayer trophies (Competitive Nature, Channel Changer). They can be boosted in a 1 versus 1 match. Find a partner to boost them with and this will be very easy.

Step 4: Survival Mode & Mop Up

Survival Mode is known to corrupt all your save data so keep it for last. Make a manual backup before playing this mode (PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management). You must survive 12 waves in a row which can be done on easy difficulty. If you are missing anything else at this point refer to the trophy guide below and mop up whatever you are missing.

Glitch Warnings:

  • Some Collectibles are known to glitch out / do not spawn. If this happens, go get the collectibles in the Führer DLC. They do count towards the grand total, which means you can skip some collectibles in the main game if you get them in the DLC instead.
  • The collectible tracker for Mission 6: Magazzeno Facility is wrong. It shows 9 deadeye targets but there are only 3 in this mission. This doesn’t affect the trophy.
  • The collectible for Mission 7: Giovi Fiorni Mansion is wrong.  It says there is 1 Sniper Report and 6 Documents. But in reality there are 2 Sniper Reports and only 5 Documents. So one more Sniper Report and one less Document. Furthermore, the second Sniper Report does not spawn for most people but it doesn’t affect the trophy.
  • There are reports that playing Survival can wipe all story progress. Stay away from Survival Mode until all other trophies are done and be sure to make a manual backup before playing this mode (PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management).
  • The game is known to crash and have corrupted save files. Create different manual saves from time to time and back up your data at least once a day (PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management).

A Most Singular Expert
Master a single weapon
See trophy “Master-At-Arms”.
The Pistol Pro
100 Kills with a Pistol
Quite self-explanatory. Kill 100 enemies with pistols. You can select your weapons before a mission begins. All kill-related trophies can be farmed on easy difficulty via checkpoint restart or by reloading a manual save.
The Secondary Specialist
250 Kills with a Secondary Weapon
Quite self-explanatory. Kill 250 enemies with secondary weapons (Assault Rifles / SMGs / Shotguns). You can select your weapons before a mission begins. All kill-related trophies can be farmed on easy difficulty via checkpoint restart or by reloading a manual save.
Rockin’ the Rifle
500 Kills with a Rifle
Quite self-explanatory. Kill 500 enemies with Sniper Rifles. You can select your weapons before a mission begins. All kill-related trophies can be farmed on easy difficulty via checkpoint restart or by reloading a manual save.
I See You!
Fully Target Focus 100 times
For this you must use the binoculars to mark 100 enemies before killing them. Press R3 to use binoculars. Then zoom in on the enemies (press D-Pad up/down to zoom) and mark the enemy by pressing R2. Then kill the enemy and repeat 100 times.
Everything by Halves
Complete 50% of all Secondary Objectives in the Main Campaign
See trophy “Following Orders”.
Following Orders
Complete all Secondary Objectives in the Main Campaign
Before a mission starts you can talk to people at camp (except for the first mission). They give you little side objectives that will be marked on the map via a question mark. It’s recommended you do all of these on easy (Cadet) difficulty. On authentic it would complicate the playthrough. In mission select you can see which optional objectives you have completed and which ones are missing.

There are 24 secondary objectives in total.

*There are repots of this trophy not unlocking after the 24th objective. But it did unlock eventually for those players on another playthrough when doing the secondary objectives again. If you have the Führer DLC also complete that DLC and all objectives in it.

Keeping your Distance
Total kill distance of 100 Kilometres
This will come naturally over time. This trophy adds up the shooting distance of all your kills. If you do many long shots this will increase quickly. Kills from close range also add to your kill distance but only by little. You can farm this on easy difficulty via checkpoint restart or by loading a manual save. Snipe an enemy that’s far away and reload.

The best farming spot is in Mission 3. There’s a bridge (main objective) with several enemies on it. Snipe them from the other end of the map and reload. You can get several easy long distance kills in one go.

Ambush King
Kill 100 enemies with traps
Let 100 enemies walk into your traps. For example, use trip wires or booby traps. The best way is to make a manual save right before the enemy walks into your trap. When they do and get killed by it reload the save game to farm more kills.
Are You Insane?
Complete the entire main campaign on Authentic difficulty
There are 4 difficulty settings (lowest to highest):

  • Cadet (Easy) – No bullet ballistics
  • Marksman (Normal) – Simplified Bullet Ballistics, harder enemies.
  • Sniper Elite (Hard) – Realistic Bullet Ballistics, deadly enemies. Friendly Fire is turned on.
  • Authentic (Hardcore) – Realistic Settings. HUD is disabled, can’t see objectives on map.

Completing the game on Authentic unlocks the trophies for all the lower difficulties (they stack). If you cause an alarm and get overrun by enemies it’s usually game over. Stay hidden, sneak past enemies, and only kill what you must. Mask the sound of your sniper rifle, e.g. by turning on a nearby generator or wait for a loud noise (plane flying overhead or a turret shooting). You should also use silenced sniper rifle rounds (can be bought for $4 where you select gear before the mission). If you have any trouble play in co-op. It’s easier with a friend.

Authentic is absolutely not recommended for the first playthrough. The fact that objectives don’t show on the map would make it extremely difficult to find your way around. Especially the last mission is a maze if you don’t know where you are going, so practice this mission a few times until you are 100% sure where all the objectives are.

Also use the silenced Welrod Pistol. It’s good for doing headshots at close range. But again, only kill when you must. Otherwise you may alert enemies and things get hetctic.

Hiding in bushes makes it hard for enemies to see you. It’s also a great hiding spot to dispose of corpses. If you are seen just rush to a bush and crouch until the enemies stop their search.

The Nutcracker – Sweet!
Incapacitate an enemy, then shoot them in the testicles

Simply shoot an enemy in the foot with the Welrod pistol (or another weak pistol / rifle). Sometimes this will make them fall down. Now run up to them, take out the Sniper Rifle and shoot between their legs.
I did this in Mission 8: Allagra Fortress. The enemies in this mission have more health and don’t die so quickly by your pistol shots, giving you more tries to incapacitate them. You can do this at the first two enemies of the mission.

After incapacitating the enemy you may want to create a manual save game. In case the testicle shot goes wrong you can reload and try again.

The Organ Grinder
Get at least one killshot on every organ
Should come naturally over time. The organs are:

  • Brain (headshot)
  • Eye
  • Heart
  • Lungs
  • Liver
  • Kidneys
  • Intestines
  • Stomach
  • Testicles

To aim more easily hold R1 to slow down time and zoom in on the enemy. On easy difficulty bullet ballistics are disabled so it’s easier to hit the organs. A good place to farm it is on the first enemy in Mission 4: Lorino Dockyard. He’s just sitting on a chair and doesn’t move around. There are no other enemies nearby and you can walk up really close to him, making him an easy target.

Dirty Tactics
Kill an enemy via a booby trap

For this you must place an explosive on a dead body (for example S-Mine, anything except for Stick Grenade works). When an enemy comes to investigate it will explode and unlock the trophy.
Either carry the dead body and drop it where enemies can see it, or throw some stones to lure them.

Demolition Fan
Satchel Charge 25 manned vehicles/pillboxes/pantherturms
A good farming spot is in Mission 8. On a bridge near the start of the level are 2 pillboxes. Those are the turrets in bunkers. There is one on either side of the bridge. Run up close to them on easy difficulty and plant satchel charges by pressing the Square-Button. Create a manual save game. Now either shoot the satchel charges (quickest way) or press Square on them again to activate the detonation timer and they’ll explode automatically. Blowing up tanks with satchel charges counts too, but there have to be enemies driving the tank and aiming the turret at you. The pillboxes are easier because they are stationary weapons (so not driving around) and two of them are sitting right next to one another.
Fire and Brimstone
Kill 5 enemies with a single artillery strike

Mission 6: Magazzeno Facility
First you must loot a “Spotter” enemy to get a flare gun. They always have one.
One spotter is found very early in the mission. Look between the first few buildings on the left side, very shortly after the mission starts. He is in front of a building. When you mark him with the binoculars it will say that he’s a Spotter and carrying a Flare gun. Kill him and loot the body.
Now head to the location in the video (without being seen). Just stick to the road and throw stones to distract enemies on your path. Up by the big satellite dish are 5-7 enemies standing all in one spot, talking to each other. It’s like this spot was made for the trophy. Shoot the flare gun at them and wait for the artillery to hit.

If you are detected they may run off, so stay stealthy. The flare gun has two modes “Targeted” and “Distributed”. For this spot I found it easier to use Targeted because the enemies are so close together and it’s more precise. Make a manual save before using the flare gun, in case you need another try.

Sniper Interrupted
Kill 5 Snipers before they see you
Very easy to farm at the start of Mission 2: Bitania Village. From the start of the mission sneak around the right side of the beach. In an old tower up ahead is a sniper. You can see the light reflecting from his scope. Make a manual save, kill him, reload the save and repeat. It can be farmed by reloading the save game over and over again. Move slowly and while crouching and stick to the walls so he doesn’t spot you.
The Path of Most Resistance
Destroy the plane using a Bolt-Action Rifle

This works in Mission 8: Allagra Fortress.
At the very end of the mission you have to destroy a plane. Instead of shooting the engine you must wait for the plane to take off, then shoot the missle it is carrying (under the plane).
The missile will explode and destroy the plane, resulting in a cutscene and unlocking the trophy.

You must use a Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. All sniper rifles except Gewehr 43 and M1 are Bolt-Action (I used the Carcano M91/41). The M1903 Springfield that’s unlocked from the beginning is also bolt-action.

Mother knows best
Complete all Mother Hen secondary missions in the main game
See trophy “Following Orders”. The Mother Hen Secondary Objectives will come automatically as you go for all the 24 secondary objectives.
Weaver’s Warrior
Complete all OSS Secondary Objectives in the main campaign
See trophy “Following Orders”. The OSS Secondary Objectives will come automatically as you go for all the 24 secondary objectives.
Challenge Accepted
Complete all challenges in a single mission.
When you hover over a mission in mission select you can see the available challenges. Each of the 8 missions has various different challenges, so pick whatever you like best. Some are geared more towards stealth (e.g. mission 3 is easy if you are good at stealth and know the mission well enough), or they are geared towards carnage (e.g. mission 1 focuses on doing lots of kills). You can also click on the challenges in mission select to see what they are all about.
Variety is the Spice of Death
Get a kill with every weapon
There are the following weapons:

Rifles:

  • M1903 Springfield
  • Mosin-Nagant M91/390
  • Mannlicher M1895
  • Lee-Enfield No. 4
  • Karabiner 98K (also called KAR98K)
  • Gewehr 43 (G43)
  • Carcano M91/41

Secondary Weapons:

  • Thompson
  • MP 40
  • MKB 42
  • MAB 38
  • FNAB-43
  • Trench Gun (Shotgun)
  • Panzerfaust (a type of Rocket Launcher, enemy drop mission 5)
  • FG 42 (drop from support Jägers in Mission 8, but can also be found in other places of this mission. More enemies over the course of the campaign have it)

Pistols:

  • Welrod
  • Webley MKVI
  • Army Pistol 38 (AP38)
  • Luger P08
  • M1911
  • M1934

When leveling up your receive money which you can spend on new weapons.
Weapons can be bought before starting a mission (where you select the loadout). The Panzerfaust and FG 42 are enemy drops and cannot be bought.

Silent But Deadly
Kill 100 enemies with suppressed ammo
Suppressed ammo can be bought in mission select where you choose weapons. It’s an item, just like grenades and medkits. It costs $4. You get money by leveling up. In the weapon wheel hover over the sniper rifle and press R1 to select suppressed ammo. Kill 100 enemies with it. All kill-related trophies can be farmed on easy difficulty via checkpoint restart or by reloading manual save games.
Still Ain’t Got Time to Bleed
Complete a single player mission without using a Medikit or Bandage
This can very quickly be done on easy difficulty. Simply rush through any mission on easy. The enemies have very bad sight on easy so just stay crouched and go straight to the main objective(s). The second mission is very short and works great for this.
On Yer Head, Son
Kill enemies with 3 different environmental drop kills
This can be farmed very easily at the start of the first mission, at the very first enemy group you encounter. As part of the initial tutorial you must shoot some cargo which then falls onto two enemies. This is unmissable! After the cargo falls down and kills the enemies, restart the mission and repeat 2 more times.
My Rifle is My Best Friend
Complete a main campaign mission with rifle kills only
During a mission use only the Sniper Rifle to kill enemies. The second missions is very short and works great for this (can be combined with “Still Ain’t Got Time to Bleed”).
The Collector
Collect all Last Letters, Letters From Home, and Letters To Home in the main game
Please refer to this article for all collectible locations: Sniper Elite 4 Collectible Locations (Letters, Deadeye Targets, Reports, Documents, Duty Rosters
Master-At-Arms
Fully master a rifle, secondary weapon and pistol
For this you must complete all challenges of one sniper rifle, secondary weapon and pistol. After selecting a mission you see your equipment. Press Square-Button on a weapon to see the skins & upgrades. Press R1 to switch to the upgrades tab. Here you can see all 4 challenges. They are repetitive tasks, mostly for doing kills in a certain way (e.g. 50 Kills under 20 meters or 50 Eye Shots).

The fourth challenge is only unlocked after the first 3 have been completed. Upon completing the 4th challenge the trophy unlocks. You can farm all challenges via checkpoint restart or by reloading a manual save. For example if you must do a huge amount of kills the first enemy in mission 4 is very easy. He is sitting on a chair in the dark and you can walk up really close to him and do easy eye shots or headshots or whatever you may need. Make a manual save, then select “reload checkpoint” after doing your kill and repeat.

A Bird in the Hand…
Shoot all Stone eagles
Glitch Warning: Mission 6: Magazzeno Facility shows 9 Deadeye Targets (= Stone Eagles) in collectible tracking but there are only 3 in this mission. This does NOT affect the trophy (it will pop at the correct total of 30 deadeye targets). It’s just a display glitch so don’t worry about it. Just get the 3 eagles in this mission and all is good.

Please refer to this article for all collectible locations: Sniper Elite 4 Collectible Locations (Letters, Deadeye Targets, Reports, Documents, Duty Rosters

Greatest Hits

Jarhead
Reach character rank 25

Veteran
Reach character rank 50
You level up by killing enemies and completing mission objectives and challenges. Killing enemies stealthily at long distances gives more points. Side Objectives and Main Objectives give a lot of points all at once. This is your offline story rank. You do not have to play any multiplayer for this.

The fastest way to gain XP is to create a manual save just before completing an objective. Then complete the objective, reload the last checkpoint, complete objective again and repeat. Some objectives give 2000XP which allows you to farm rank 50 in about 30 minutes. This trick works becaus the game keeps counting your XP when restarting checkpoints, so nothing ever gets lost. The objectives where you have to kill someone work really great for it. Shoot them in the knee with a pistol so they are bleeding out on the ground. Create a save game just before they die and reload that save / checkpoint. As soon as the XP reward for the objective comes up you can restart the checkpoint. It’s important you wait for the objective XP notification (1000 XP / 2000 XP etc.) at the top of the screen. If you restart checkpoint before this it won’t count.

Gotta Cap ’em All
Kill one of each infantry type
There are 6 infantry types. You can find them all in the fourth mission “Lorino Dockyard”.

  • Infantry
  • Jäger
  • Support Jäger
  • Radioman (guys who call reinforcements)
  • Spotter (guys with flare guns calling artillery strikes)
  • Faust Trooper (guys with rocket launcher / panzerfaust)
Survival of the Fittest
Complete all waves in a survival session
From the title screen select survival mode and survive 12 waves in a row. This can be done on cadet difficulty (lowest difficulty). You can also invite another player to help you out.
Competitive Nature
Complete at least one match in each mode
For this you must play one MULTIPLAYER match of every type till the end. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, you just need to stay in the match all the way through. You can also do this in 1 versus 1 match if you prefer.
Channel Changer
Take control of the enemy held radio and capture it with just seconds remaining
This can be done in Multiplayer mode “Control”. It’s best if you boost this in a 1 versus 1 match with a friend. One player captures the radio post. You will now see a colored circle filling up at the top of the screen. Shortly before the circle is full, the other player captures back the radio (press Square button while standing near the radio to retake it).
The Best of the Best of the Best
Complete the entire main campaign on Authentic difficulty with no manual saves
Authentic (Hardcore) has realistic bullet ballistics, enemies are much more aggressive (see you faster and do more damage). The HUD is disabled and you can’t see objectives on map.

Completing the game on Authentic unlocks the trophies for all the lower difficulties (they stack). If you cause an alarm and get overrun by enemies it’s usually game over. Stay hidden, sneak past enemies, and only kill when you must. You can also play co-op with a stranger from the Cooperative menu in the title screen.

You are allowed to restart checkpoint and load auto-saves. You just aren’t allowed to make manual saves. The game still creates auto-saves and checkpoints every few minutes so it’s quite doable.

The documents serve for trophies of collectible?

Hmm… could be a glitch. Get the collectibles from the Fuhrer DLC. Those will add to the collectible counter from main game. Basically lets you one mission from main game if you get the DLC collectibles. Hope this unlocks it for you.

Great videos, guys …. just wanted to toss that in there, but here is the question:

My brother and I finished the game last night on Authentic. We played the whole thing together, every step of the way, BUT when we were done I got the Are You Insane, Best of the Best of the Best and the Platinum trophy … my brother got NONE of those. Do you know of a glitch that might be causing this? When he looks at his mission select, it shows he has completed all missions on Authentic except the last one, which shows he completed on Normal, even though he played it with me.

    Any ideas?

    1. Now there is a new update for authentic plus difficulty, does that mean once I completed the authentic plus mode, other difficulty trophies would be unlocked as well?
2.For”are you insane” trophy, other than 8 main missions, do I need to complete two co-op mission in authentic difficulty as well?
    Many thanks for your reply.

Hopefully someone sees this, but I would like a co-op partner for the MP trophies. Add me, Tetsnoobn. Please put a message saying its for this game, so I know. Thanks!! Hope someone sees this!

Does the Path Of Most Resistance trophy count if you use the Winchester? It said it’s a lever action rifle. Not sure if that counts.
