Zelda Tears of the Kingdom – Crossing the Cold Pool Walkthrough

May 11, 2023 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Crossing the Cold Pool is a Side Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Crossing the Cold Pool side mission.

Location: Hebra > Hebra Mountains > Talonto Peak
Quest Giver:
 Verla
Requirement:
Find the quest giver in the open world (potentially must also have progressed to Main Quest: Tulin of Rito Village)
Reward:
 50 Rupees
Quest Info:
Verla came to Talonto Peak Cave to collect 10 chillshrooms, only to find that cold water had accumulated inside. With his wing still injured from fight with monsters, Verla has no way to cross the pool.

Objectives:

  • Cross the Freezing Water in the Cave and Collect 10 Chillshrooms

Starting Location: Crossing the Cold Pool

This quest starts in Hebra > Hebra Mountains > Talonto Peak. From Hebra Trailhead Lodge (named on map), climb up the ladders and head north on the snowy mountain path. Follow the main path and you will reach a purple bird-man at the end of the path. He gives the quest. Alternatively, can fly here from Rospro Pass Skyview Tower.

Cross the Freezing Water in the Cave and Collect 10 Chillshrooms

The questgiver, Verla, wants you to collect 10 Chillshrooms from the cave. Trouble is, there is icy water and swimming through it will drain your health. If you already have upgraded your health a lot you could brute-force it by simply swimming through and consuming health items. But there’s a proper way of doing it without taking damage.

To the right of the questgiver, outside the cave, are a bunch of wooden planks. Using Ultrahand ability carry them inside the cave and stick them together.

They are a tight fit at the cave entrance but you can rotate them and use Dpad  /  / :left: / :right: to fine-tune the movement. Put at least 4-5 planks in the cave, stick them together into one very long connected plank. Put it in the water, the wood will float. Now you can walk over it to the other side, jump on the raft, from there climb the wall.

Collect all the Chillshrooms at the end of the cave. There are more than 10.

Backtrack to the questgiver, talk to him, pick dialogue “Is this enough?”. He will be pleased and gives you 50 Rupees as a reward.

This finishes Crossing the Cold Pool Side Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
