Welcome to the Elden Ring Walkthrough for the Leyndell, Royal Capital region! Siofra River is a location you can get to very early in the game if you wish, through an elevator in the east of Limgrave. It contains the optional Ancestor Spirit boss. You aren’t required to come here for any progression but if you are following along with the quest for the Age of the Stars ending you get led down here to search for a way into Nokron with Blaidd.

Siofra River

Siofra River Well
To get down into Siofra River, you will need to take the Siofra River Well elevator, located on the far east side of Limgrave. If you’re just heading over there for the first time you can make your way over to where the map stele is located on the map, and the Well is basically directly behind it.

Take the long ride down to reach the Siofra River area. Just to the right off the elevator, you can the first site of grace in this area.

Siofra River Well Depths
Continue down the path toward the ruins ahead. You can go down a path on the left or through the ruins to the right, they both end up on the other side of the area after some enemies.
The enemies in this area are like the miners you might have faced in some of the Tunnels prior. Really slow and easy to avoid, but pretty high defense so can take a bit of a beating. The ones that aren’t holding staffs cast slow tracking bubble magic as well.
On the other side of the ruins, you can head up the stairs to reach the elevator leading to the next area.
Continue forward up the river, watching out for the crabs along the way.
At the end of this ravine the area opens up, and you can find the next site of grace on the left.
Siofra River Bank
Before progressing farther into the area, head over to the right near the stairs leading up to the large building. Just to the right of the stairs, you can pick up Map: Siofra River off the body, providing you with the actual map for this underground area.

The structure ahead is where you can fight the optional boss for this area, but before you can face it you need to light 8 fires around this area at pillars, like the one you saw when you came in.
You can take a loop around the area clockwise, hitting each of the fires then returning to fight the boss.
The major enemies to watch out for in this area are the Spirit Warriors that will appear as you travel around. A handful will be waiting around, but most won’t appear until you actually get near the area they are in. Most chase you around when you get near, but some will try to shoot arrows from range which can do a pretty decent chunk of damage or knock you off Torrent.
If you notice the floating lightning balls around the area, these aren’t actually enemies. They start shooting lightning at you when you get near for a short period, then disappear. If you get near one to trigger it, try running away until it stops shooting and disappears.
As you are heading farther to the north, you can find another site of grace in the middle of some of the stone pillars.
Worshippers’ Woods
Watch as you continue progressing north, as there will be some warriors already spawned who have bows. Before taking the path to the left where you can find a Golden Seed, make your way around the back to take them out if you don’t want to try dodging arrows. They have very heavy tracking, so you can’t just outrun them with Torrent if they start shooting towards you.

If you continue heading north towards the stairwell, you can find the final site of grace in this area.
Below the Well
The nearby stairs lead to another large elevator that can be activated with a Stonesword Key, which takes you up to a side area in Caelid.
Once you activate all 8 fires, you will get a message about the stirring in the remains. At that point, you can head back to the ruins by where you found the map earlier. Head inside, and there will be a corpse at the back which is now glowing. Interact with it to teleport to the boss area.

Ancestor Spirit
Reward: Ancestral Follower Ashes, 10000 Runes
The Spirit will run in the air gracefully and use spells to attack you. As a spell user, you can hit it from a distance while chasing it down, as a melee user you have to wait for it to get back down on the ground. Watch out for its melee attacks as well since it can leap at you pretty fast for an attack with multiple follow-up hits. At half health, it can start performing a new attack which will have the deer in the air a few times before dropping at you from above instead of using spells – so keep that in mind if you anticipate the glint-rain from the air instead.
With the boss defeated you’ve done the only major thing you can do here currently. Assuming your following along with the questline for the Age of that Stars ending you should be meeting Blaidd here. If you follow the cliff just to the northeast of Hallowhorn Grounds you can find him standing there, staring off the cliff.

Speak to him a few times and he’ll suggest speaking with Seluvis, back in his tower by Caria Manor.

Speak with him and ask about Nokron, and he’ll give you an item called Seluvis’s Introduction. You now need to take it to Sellen, who can be found at the Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave. Speak with her and give her the letter.

She explains about General Radahn, who has stopped the movement of the stars. You can now go back to Blaidd in Siofra River and tell him about what Sellen said.
He then asks you to meet him at Redmane Castle in Caelid, which is where you will be aiming to head next to fight your next Shardbearer and will allow you to progress into Nokron after.
