Letting Off Steam III is the 47th main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI), and a subquest of Out of the Shadow. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Letting Off Steam III main scenario chapter.

- Requirement: Occurs during Out of the Shadow
- Reward: 400 XP, 500 AP, 800 Gil, 40 Renown, 1 Black Blood, 2 Gil Bug
- Quest Info: Mid’s Enterprise wants for a thermal displacement stack, but she is struggling to realize the designs. She asks for Clive’s assistance in sourcing a material resistant yet light enough to serve as the shielding.
With a little help from Harpocrates, Jill, and Tarja, CLive succeeds in formulating a flame-resistant balm, as well as a plan to see it used to craft the thermal shielding.
Objectives:
- Speak with Harpocrates
- Make for the Northreach markets
- Purchase garlic
- Purchase pepio nuts
- Make for the south gate of the markets
Speak with Harpocrates
Speak with Harpocrates again in the Shelves. Here you’ll have another choice on who you want to go complete this quest with, this time between Tarja and Jill.
Make for the Northreach markets
Now warp over to Northreach to meet up with them.
Depending on who you picked they’re standing in a different spot at the start, but they’re both near the entrance to the market.
Purchase garlic
For the garlic, head over to the traveling trader located near the gate and purchase it for 10 Gil.
Purchase pepio nuts
For the pepio nuts, head over to the greengrocer near the normal vendor and purchase them for 20 Gil.
Make for the south gate of the markets
After making both your purchasing, head over to the south gate to meet back up with your chosen companion and hand in your purchases.
Speak with Harpocrates
After the scene, head back to the Hideaway and speak with Harpocrates to complete the subquest.
