Memories of Home is a side tale in Ghost of Yotei. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Memories of Home side quest.
- Chapter: 1 – The Lone Wolf
- Region: Yotei Grasslands
- Quest Giver: Automatically accepted randomly while free-roaming
- Requirement: Randomly triggered from general game progression. It can trigger at different points, seemingly random but all players will get this quest automatically at some point. For some it triggers when entering Tokachi Range for the first time, for others it can appear when returning to your home (which you unlock during Prologue), or finding collectibles.

- Return to your childhood memory (1)
- Find old sumi-e paintings
- Return to your childhood memory (2)
- Find the chest with pinwheels
Starting Location: Memories of Home
This tale doesn’t have one fixed starting location. Instead, it triggers randomly when visiting new regions, or finding collectibles, or progressing the story and returning to your home. Then the objective marker appears on your home and can be tracked.
Return to your childhood memory (1)
Go back to your Home and you’ll be able to use the Touchpad to go back to the past.
In the past, talk to Jubei about his missing headband.
Afterwards, go back to the past again and talk to your father Kengo to do 2 sumi-e paintings. These count towards the Sumi-e under the Activities menu, but are not needed towards An Artist’s Eye trophy.
Find old sumi-e paintings
Switch back to the present time by holding Touchpad, go inside the house and interact with the paintings on the ground.
Not required for completing the side tale, but you can also collect Jubei’s Lost Headband off the rooftop.
Return to your childhood memory (2)
Go back to your Home and you’ll be able to use the Touchpad to go back to the past.
In the past, talk to your mother Yone. You’ll have to play a game of zeni hajiki against her.
Find the chest with pinwheels
After either winning or losing against Yone, you’ll return to the present where you can go inside the house to find the pinwheels in the corner.
This finishes Memories of Home in Ghost of Yotei.
