Introduction
Welcome to the NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 Trophy Guide (aka NieR Remaster / Nier Remake from 2021). This is a PS4 remaster / partial remake of the original NieR that released in 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360, specifically the Replicant version of the game that was released in Japan where the main character is a younger man trying to save his sister (the version originally released in the west was the Gestalt version where the main character is a father trying to save his daughter). The stories between the two are basically the same if you happened to play the original, just with minor dialogue differences and relationship establishments due to the different main character ages. This ver.1.22474487139 comes with some updates to combat (so it plays somewhat closer to NieR Automata), “The World of the Recycled Vessel” DLC from the original being built into the game, and some content that was cut from the original.
The trophy list for this version is largely the same as the original game if you are familiar with it. It includes 5 new trophies, with 2 being related to the new story content, 1 being for a new ending, 1 being for completing the Recycled Vessel once, and one more miscellaneous trophy. You are still required to upgrade a number of weapons like the original, but due to the free “4 YoRHa” DLC you get access to some extra ones which makes upgrading 33 out of a possible 38 less tedious than the original.
Note on Playthroughs and Missables
NieR Replicant is set up so that the story occurs in two parts, Part One and Part Two. When you complete the story and reach an ending, you are then returned to a point in the story after the start of Part Two, so while the game technically requires 4 “playthroughs” for endings, the only full playthrough is the actual first one from New Game to Ending A. Each new “playthrough” you are only playing through under half of the full game, aside from Ending E which requires you play through some of Part One of the story again, before changing to the new Ending E content.
The missable things in this version of the game are Lightspeed Fighter for finishing the game (NG to Ending A) in under 15 hours of game time and The Sheep Whisperer for killing 100 sheep. If you don’t do Lightspeed Fighter the first time through you need to start a new game and play again from scratch, it doesn’t count going Ending A to Ending B for example. Sheep only spawn normally during Part One of the story, and even though the game includes the extra NPC in Part Two that lets you kill sheep, those don’t seem to count towards the total for The Sheep Whisperer. If you did miss that first time you can get it when you run through the first hour of Part One again for Ending E.
Due to the new content/changes added that go along with Ending E, you don’t need to back up your save before triggering Ending D. Completing Ending E gives back your deleted Ending D save, which means you can then use that to do all grinding and misc you have left, instead of reverting your save to before Ending D.
Step 1: Ending A
The first step is to just play through the game fully to reach Ending A. If you don’t plan to do Lightspeed Fighter on your first playthrough then you can do as much or as little as you want while working towards the ending.
Step 2: Ending B
After you complete Ending A, you are put back into the story just after the point in Part Two where you rescue Kaine. This second time through has some new cutscenes during the story, as well as some novel sections giving background on Kaine and Emil. When you reach the end of the story again you will automatically have Ending B occur.
Step 3: Collect all weapons, boss speedruns, Ending C
The next time through you will need to collect all weapons (if you haven’t done so already) so that you gain the choice to trigger either Ending C or D after fighting a new final boss. In this playthrough you also will want to do the boss speedrun trophies if you haven’t already, as there isn’t new cutscene content during the boss fights, so you can skip all cutscenes during them without fear of missing anything. It would be smart to make a backup of your save at the end of the game just in case, before going on to trigger Ending C if you don’t want to do an extra playthrough to then trigger Ending D.
Step 4: Ending D
After Ending C you can either revert a save backup or do another playthrough to trigger Ending D. Note that doing so will delete all save files, with Ending E only giving back the one you completed the game off of, so if you wanted to keep the other two you should back up your save first.
Step 5: Ending E
Now after completing Ending D, you need to start a new game after your saves are wiped. Play through the game until you defeat the boss in the Aerie, then after interacting with Kaine the story will diverge and you will be on the path to Ending E. Play through this part to the end for the final ending trophy. Also make sure to do the “Daredevil” trophy before reaching the ending, as this is the only point you can do it, and if you miss it you’d have to trigger Ending D again to get back into the Ending E path. Completing Ending E and choosing “Yes” at the end gives you back your deleted Ending D save that you completed the game off of.
Step 6: Complete all grinding and miscellaneous trophies
With your prior save returned to you, you can now work on any miscellaneous objectives and grinding you didn’t do prior. This can be done prior to Ending D/E if you want, but if you leave it to after Ending E you get an extra weapon that can be used to help you out during grinding.
Step 7: Lightspeed Fighter
If you hadn’t done it in your first playthrough, then now would be the time to speedrun the game one final time, reaching Ending A in under 15 hours.

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.
Combo Fanatic You pulled off a 50-hit combo. |
||
This trophy is awarded when you reach a 50-hit combo for the first time.
Combo Master You pulled off a 100-hit combo. |
||
This trophy is awarded when you reach a 100-hit combo for the first time. The combo counter in Nier is only based on your melee hits, not any magic, so if you’re trying to reach 100 combo you want to do this while only meleeing enemies and not using Weiss. There are a few locations during the game this is very easy to do.
Right at the start of the game is the first one where you are fighting the waves of shades outside of the building and are being given the combat tutorial. You want to only use melee the entire time, don’t use the magic powers you gain over time. If you don’t drop combo at all you can reach around a combo of 150. Another location you can do this is during the string of boss fights at the end of the game. When fighting armored Goose (the boar shade) it will continually regain health while standing still and releasing poison gas and you can’t actually defeat it. Just continually attack it here instead of going through the exit doors until you reach 100 combo. Using a spear instead of a sword can get you combo much faster here, because the spear has much more individual hits in it’s light attack combo string. |
||
The Magic Man You learned every type of magic. |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.
This trophy is awarded when you obtain all of the sealed verses in Part One of the story. |
||
Wordsmith You collected 50 percent of all words. |
||
Words are dropped off of enemies randomly and are placed on weapons or abilities to grant various buffs. You can check what words you have unlocked and your total percentage in the pause menu. While working through the playthroughs and grinding you will get well over 50% of the words.
Weapons Collector You found every weapon. |
||
There are 33 weapons you need to obtain in Nier Replicant (30 original plus 3 from the Recycled Vessel). Getting all weapons is required for obtaining endings C and D.

||
Village Handyman You completed 10 quests. |
||
This trophy is awarded for completing any 10 side quests.
Jack of All Trades You completed 20 quests. |
||
This trophy is awarded for completing any 20 side quests.
Go-To Guy You completed 30 quests. |
||
This trophy is awarded for completing any 30 side quests.
Nier Replicant has a total of 71 side quests in it, spread out between the two parts of the story. Each part has 31 that are specific to them, then the 9 Fisherman’s Gambit quests that carry to Part Two. All other Part One quests are marked as “uncompletable” if you don’t finish them before progressing to Part Two of the story, and there are a couple of Part Two quests that require finishing quests in Part One, and you can’t do them if you didn’t do the Part One quests. You can ignore all side quests in Part One if you want, none of the rewards are particularly major and the quests in Part Two that require quests from Part One only give gold as a reward. |
||
Dear Diary You completed the “Recycled World” quest. |
||
Recycled World isn’t actually a quest that appears in the quest log, but it means you complete the “World of the Recycled Vessel” activity for the first time. This was DLC for the original game and consists of a series of enemy arenas you fight through in three sets. You can play this after you have completed Ending A, and it is accessed by interacting with the shelf by the door in Nier’s house.. You go through each of the doors in the area to complete each challenge, receiving one of the “Fool’s” set of weapons for each initial completion. When you complete the third door for the first time you are awarded this trophy. You can replay the doors whenever after that for more gold/XP/materials.
Man of Means You accumulated 1,000,000 pieces of gold. |
||
This trophy requires you to have a million gold AT ONCE, it’s not cumulative. The best way to go about doing this is to not spend money upgrading weapons/buying materials until you get this trophy. You can save your game, sell every item you have to a vendor to reach the million, then reload your save.
If you do need to grind money, the fastest way is running through door 3 of the Recycled Vessel, where you get 50,000 gold each time you complete it. |
||
Educated Warrior You read all novel segments about your friends’ pasts. |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.
Unlike the original game, there are now more novel segments that also occur on your next playthrough after Ending B. You will earn this after the second Devola and Popola boss fight on that third playthrough. |
||
Call Her Back You viewed the first ending (Ending A). |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.
This trophy is awarded the first time you complete the story (defeating the Shadowlord in Part Two). |
||
Lingering Memories You viewed the second ending (Ending B). |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.
This trophy is awarded the second time you complete the story on your second “playthrough”. You do not need to do anything specific for this ending, it happens automatically the second time. |
||
Thank You You viewed the third ending (Ending C). |
||
For both Endings C and D you first need to obtain all weapons in the game. Upgrading them doesn’t matter, just having all 33 in your possession.
» NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 – All Weapon Locations & Upgrades Once you have all the weapons and reach the end of the story after completing Ending B, you defeat the Shadowlord like before then have a new boss to defeat after. After this new boss fight you are then presented with a choice, either ending that character’s life or sacrificing your own. For Ending C you pick the first option, ending the other character’s life. After the credits you are placed back in the story just after unpetrifying Kaine like prior endings. |
||
Something Very Special You viewed the fourth ending (Ending D). |
||
WARNING: CHOOSING ENDING D DELETES ALL SAVE SLOTS FOR THE GAME.
For both Endings C and D, you first need to obtain all weapons in the game. Upgrading them doesn’t matter, just having all 33 in your possession: » NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 – All Weapon Locations & Upgrades For Ending D you do the same thing as Ending C, except after the new boss fight you choose the second option, to sacrifice yourself. Doing so gets a new ending, but also deletes all save files you have for the game, and doesn’t allow you to start a new save with the same character name (the individual slots are wiped, but the overall save still keeps track of you making the Ending D choice). To get back your deleted Ending D save, play through Ending E. If you were using multiple save slots and want to keep those for some reason you should still back up your save before doing Ending D, as it only gives back the one you complete Ending D on. |

||
For this trophy, you first need to play through the game and choose Ending D, which wipes all of your saves and makes you start a new game from scratch to continue playing. When you reach the point in Part One where you kill the scorpion boss in The Aerie is where the story will diverge.
Once on the path to Ending E, you will get all-new story content. At the end of the playthrough, you will be given a Yes or No choice. You need to choose Yes to complete the ending, if you choose No you are returned to the main menu and must reload your last save to continue playing. After choosing Yes you will be given back your save that you completed Ending D off of, which means that the game no longer requires you to do everything before Ending D if you don’t want to use save backups. |
||
Legendary Gardener You successfully cultivated the legendary flower. |
||
The legendary flower is a White Moonflower, which you need to grow by crossbreeding other colors of moonflowers together. Plants in Nier grow relative to real-world time, not game time, with Moonflowers taking approximately 24 hours to flower then another 24 hours to be harvested as seeds.
As far as is currently understood the way the clock on the game saves is set up on PS4/PS5 is that it’s based on the internal system clock, not the visible changeable clock like on PS3. Changing the time zone on the PS4/PS5 does affect the clock though, so you can still do some save manipulation and use this to force flowers to crossbreed. Doing this you can force your way to white moonflower over 4 days real-time, instead of the 8+ it would take without manipulation. Cultivating the White Moonflower requires going through 4 cycles of growing other Moonflowers. The way they are grown is: Red + Gold = Peach Once you have successfully crossbreed a White Moonflower, harvest the flower itself to earn this trophy. Much more in-depth flower growing info can be found here: |
||
Fish of Legend You caught a rhizodont. |
||
The Rhizodont is the hardest fish in the game to catch, so should only be worked on after you have completed all of The Fisherman’s Gambit questline to get the maximum fishing skill. When you are ready to try and catch the Rhizodant you need Sardine to use as bait, then to go to the northern sand river spot in the desert. This is in the northeastern corner of the sandstorm area down a set of stairs. This is the location you need to fish for the rhizodont. You can still catch it from the southern fishing spot, but the chance might not be as high.
A Round by the Pond You caught one of every type of fish. |
||
There are a total of 15 types of fish in Nier Replicant. Most you are required to be caught while completing the Fisherman’s Gambit questline, with a few others (and the two hardest) being extras. You will need to work through all of the Fisherman’s Gambit side quests to be able to effectively catch the two hardest fish, so those ones you don’t specifically need to worry about.
Fishing is done by going up to water (or the sand river in the desert) and pressing , then selecting your bait. Different bait catches different fish, with some bait catching certain types more often or being basically required. With your hook in the water, you see a bobber, which is what you use to tell when you have a hook or when to pull to hook a fish. You pull back on the left stick to hook the fish, then while reeling in the fish you now see a large bar on the bottom of the screen. Hold the stick in the opposite direction of where the fish is pulling (if the fish is pulling to the left you move the stick to the bottom right) while adjusting with the fish to deplete the bar on the bottom. To catch the fish you either let the bar deplete, or for larger fish you’ll notice when it gets near the bottom it turns a darker blue, and you can hit to reel in the fish. Bait can be bought from a few stores, notably the Tackle Shop in Seafront. You can buy more than one Lure, but you don’t need to because you can’t lose your main lure, so you only ever need 1. Fish are listed with name, bait used, location, and other important info. They go from easiest to hardest which follows along with the Fisherman’s Gambit quests that when completed allow you to catch the harder fish and catch easier ones faster. Fish List: Shaman Fish Sardine Carp Blowfish Rainbow Trout Bream Black Bass Shark Sandfish Giant Catfish Royal Fish Blue Marlin Hyneria Dunkleosteus Rhizodont |
||
Material Hunter You collected 50 types of raw materials. |
||
Raw materials are the items that are picked up off the ground or dropped by enemies and are used to upgrade weapons or just sold for money. There are around 80~ total types of materials, so you will earn this without needing to worry about it while playing through the game.
Upgrade Apprentice You upgraded 5 weapons to their maximum level. |
||
This trophy is awarded when you upgrade any 5 weapons to their maximum level.
Reform Specialist You upgraded 15 weapons to their maximum level. |
||
This trophy is awarded when you upgrade any 15 weapons to their maximum level.
Forging Master You upgraded 33 weapons to their maximum level. |
||
This trophy is awarded when you upgrade ANY 33 weapons in the game to their maximum level. Weapons are upgraded at Two Brother’s Weaponry located in the Junk Heap by using raw materials and paying 1000 gold per level. Weapons are upgraded 3 times each to a maximum level of 4. Upgrading weapons requires a large number of materials, with a large amount of grinding required to obtain them all.
Even though there are 33 “normal” weapons, there is an extra secret weapon you obtain after completing Ending E, as well as the 4 extra weapons from the free “4 YoRHa” DLC that includes costumes and weapons from NieR Automata. These 5 all count towards this trophy, so you can use this to your advantage to avoid farming some of the worse materials. You can find the list of all required materials and locations to find them here: » NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 – Weapon Locations & Upgrades |
||
All Aboared! You rode a boar for at least five minutes. |
||
To be able to ride a boar, you first need to complete the side quest “Board Hunt!” located in Nier’s Village. You speak to a man in the shopping area, who has you go and kill a boar in the Northern Plains. After completing this quest, you then have the ability to ride boars in Northern Plains and Southern Plains by approaching the ones lying on the ground. After that at any point you can earn this trophy by riding a boar for 5 minutes in one go (not cumulative). You can get on a boar and then just wait in the spot it starts at, you don’t need to be moving around. The trophy will pop while you are still on the boar after 5 minutes have elapsed.
The Sheep Whisperer You killed 100 sheep. |
||
*Missable Trophy*
Sheep are located in the Northern Plains area during Part One, you will go past them many times during your travels. Killing them gives mutton, which can be sold (or turned in for a repeatable side quest for a better reward). You need to earn this trophy in Part One of the game, because even though this version includes the NPC in Part Two that allows you to kill sheep that doesn’t seem to count towards the trophy like it did on the PS3 version. While earning his trophy you can just make an effort to kill all sheep in the area each time you go through the Northern Plains and can easily reach the 100 required without extra trips. You can also speed this up by using the Order in the pause menu to call over all animals, which calls the Sheep in the area over to you. If you miss the first time you play through Part One, you can do it when you play through the first section of Part One again for Ending E. |
||
Lightspeed Fighter You completed the game within fifteen hours. |
||
*Missable Trophy*
This trophy requires you to complete the story (new game to Ending A) within 15 hours on the in-game timer. Even though it is an RPG, Nier Replicant isn’t a particularly long game. Skipping all cutscenes and ignoring all side quests during a playthrough you can easily finish it in 5 – 6 hours, with the world record time for the original being around 3 hours. Depending on your prior experience with the game and how much you care about the extra content, you can also easily do this trophy on your first playthrough. Since side quests in Part One aren’t required for anything specifically trophy-related you could skip them all if you wanted, and still complete 30 for “Go-To Guy” in Part Two on your next times through the story. Watching all cutscenes like this would take around 10 hours as long as you aren’t wasting a lot of time wandering around. Depending on your game knowledge you could also still complete all side quests in Part One of the story, then rush to Ending A in Part Two skipping everything, and be done under 15 hours. I wouldn’t recommend this for brand new players though because you’d waste time not knowing exactly what to do to progress the story. If you leave this to the end of the game you can use the save you started for Ending E if you didn’t save over it, as long as you still get to Ending A on that save before the 15 hour mark. |
||
King of the Lost Shrine You defeated Gretel within three minutes and twenty seconds. |
||
For this and all other boss speedrun trophies, they are earned from the bosses that you fight each time you play through Part Two of the story. Aside from the one for Louise they can be done playthrough one if you knew what to do, but they are generally left until after Ending A (or even better Ending B) because enemy health doesn’t go up in NG+ cycles, so by the time you’re on your third run through most go down incredibly fast. Cutscene time does count towards these times, which is part of why you would possibly want to leave them until after Ending B because there’s no new cutscene content at that point before the end of the story, so you can skip them during the fights.
Gretel is the statue/suit or armor boss you fight when you return to the Lost Shrine for the first time in Part Two of the story. The boss fight starts out with you being attacked by a number of waves or weak shades, while Gretel holds up a shield between waves of shooting fireballs at you. For this part you should wait on the other side of the patch of sunlight on the ground and just keep shooting the weak shades as they run towards you (ones that run through the sunlight will also be damaged or killed). You can’t really speed this part up, you just need to wait for the waves of weak shades to finish before Gretel starts attacking normally. Once the waves or shades are done, Gretel stops putting the shield up and starts attacking you normally with their spear and occasionally waves of fireballs. Keep shooting the boss and attack with melee to drop their health, until a point they start spinning around the arena. You can’t really melee the boss here anymore, so just keep shooting it with magic until you take out the rest of its health. |
||
A True Friend You stopped the berserk Kainé within one minute. |
||
This boss fight with Kaine occurs immediately after the Gretel boss fight in the same location. Kaine has been temporarily taken over by her shade and jumps around the room, shooting orbs at you. You basically just want to shoot back with your own magic, then if you get in range you can melee her off the, which will knock her to the ground temporarily. You can melee her on the ground and take out the rest of her health and end the fight very quickly.
Boss of the Junk Heap You defeated P-33 within four and a half minutes. |
||
P-33 is the large bipedal robot with the shade on its head you fight during the second trip into the Junk Heap in Part Two. For the first part of the fight it is largely like fights against the other large robots in the junk heap, where it makes electrical shocks on the floor for you to avoid. You can avoid this by using a one-handed sword or spear and just meleeing it in the air while shooting with Weiss. After a point the robot will change and be flying in the air. Here you can still attack it the same, jump and melee while shooting, the one major change is that there will be two times where it flys up into the ceiling and debris falls down to the ground below. You can’t avoid this happening the two times or make it go faster, so just avoid the debris until the robot comes back down then finish it off.
Scourge of The Aerie You defeated Wendy within eight and a half minutes. |
||
Wendy is the giant shade orb that you fight when you go to the Aerie in Part Two. This fight has the longest timer of any of them, because it requires some running around the area during the fight and you can spend a bit of time just waiting to damage the boss. While on the first platform the general idea is just so shoot the eye with Weiss while avoiding its shots back at you. When it moves right up against the platform you are on you can also go up and melee it to do some more damage. When it pulls away from the platform it is potentially a better idea to start charging up Dark Lance shots to shoot at it, because the ribbons/tentacles around it will move in front of the eye occasionally blocking you from doing damage.
At around half health the boss will enclose itself in the ribbons and start shooting a laser at you. Emil says he’ll distract it, and you need to then run around the bridges and take the ladders to the top of the area to the highest bridge to get around behind the boss. On that top bridge you will have to shoot the eye for a bit to make the boss move again. At about a quarter health remaining the boss will move over to the platform near the entrance to the area. You can get down to it quickly by jumping off the bridge you’re on to the lower one (double jump or dash before you land to avoid damage). On this final platform it works about the same as before, just shoot the boss’s eye to deplete the rest of its health. |
||
Protector of Facade You defeated Roc within three and a half minutes. |
||
Roc is the wolf boss that you fight in the desert. The fight this trophy actually counts for is the second one where you are in the oasis area fighting with the Masked Men and King of Facade. The fight starts out with a large number of normal wolves jumping into the area and attacking you, with Roc sitting on a ledge unable to be damage. Continually kill the normal wolves as quickly as you can (if you’re in NG+/NG++ they go down very fast just shooting with Weiss) until eventually, Roc jumps down. You then need to focus just on Roc. The fight works the same as when it attacked in Facade, it will sometimes put up a shield that reflects magic while doing wave attacks every so often. You can just focus hard on it with melee and it will go down very quickly.
The Little Mermaid You defeated Louise within five minutes. |
||
Louise is the new boss included in the “little mermaid” section of the story. She is a giant shade that you fight on the beached ship in Seafront. This is the only boss speedrun trophy that you specifically need to be on NG++ to complete, because after Ending B and running through Part Two of the story the boss fight changes.
At the start of the fight, you are on the deck of the beached ship, with the main part of the boss that you can damage being the two large faces to the sides of the area. You want to continually shoot these nonstop and melee them when you can. After destroying one of the arms it will spawn a number of tentacles out of the deck of the ship that you need to destroy to continue. After they are dealt with, focus on damaging the other arm until you deplete the boss’s life bar. After you have depleted the boss’s life bar the first time you will be knocked down onto the beach, and now the boss fight is slightly different from prior runs through it. After a bit, there will be damage points on the two arms the boss uses to slam on the ground. Deplete the life on them, then attack the face of the boss when prompted. This knocks the boss over, and you then have to run up on top of it to the back so you can attack the head. Deplete it’s life bar here and you will win the fight in a different way and are able to complete it in under the required time. |
||
Permission Granted You drove off Devola and Popola within three minutes. |
||
This trophy is earned during the first fight with Devola and Popola when you enter the Shadowlord’s Castle. They both attack you at once with orbs, then midway through the fight they copy Weiss’ powers and will start attacking you with things like Dark Hand. There isn’t a general way to make this quicker, you just need to lock on to them and continually dash around the room and attack them when they warp out of the floor.
A Dirge for the Hero You defeated Goose within two minutes. |
||
Goose is the large shade boar that fight in the Shadowlord’s Castle after you clear all the normal shades out of the ballroom. This is for the first fight you have against it before it turns into the unkillable armored version. You can fight it basically the same as regular boars, continually dash behind it, and hit it from the back while shooting with Weiss.
Soul Crusher You defeated Devola and Popola within three and a half minutes. |
||
This trophy is earned during the second fight with Devola and Popola. This fight is different from the first in that you are only fighting one of the twins at a time, with Devola being first. The fight functions relatively the same though, just lock on and dash towards the girls and attack with melee. After defeating the first sister you will fight the second, who will be firing out a huge number of orbs at you. You can still fight her the same way through, the only major thing to note is that you won’t be able to do a lot of damage while the dialogue is still going on between the characters. Once it finishes you can do a normal amount of damage and the fight should end fairly quickly.
Book Burner You defeated Grimoire Noir within one and a half minutes. |
||
This trophy is earned during the fight with Grimoire Noire when you reach the final room of the Shadowlord’s Castle. This fight functions the same as the prior ones with the book, where it will attack you with pages placed around the area, then after a while put a large shield around itself you have to get through to continue attacking it. The book has relatively little health in comparison to other bosses, so this fight is most easily done just chasing it around and meleeing it as quickly as you can.
The Once and Final King You defeated the Shadowlord within four minutes and twenty seconds. |
||
This trophy is awarded during the fight with the Shadowlord at the end of the game. The Shadowlord is very mobile, and you will want to purposely dodge some of its attacks to save yourself time. When it dives into the ground you want to dodge away from it, because it will try to launch out from underneath you, which wastes your time if you’re hit by it. It will sometimes melee you on ground level, which if you are able to catch you can parry and then counterattack for a decent chunk of damage. Most of the fight will just be chasing it around and shooting it though.
Midway through the fight the Shadowlord will start flying around throwing large column or magic at you. Just keep shooting at him and try to get close enough to melee him in the air. Right near the end of the fight, you will lose the ability to use magic and the Shadowlord will be on the opposite side of the area with a damage circle on him. You will need to sprint down to the side of the area he is on and hit him with melee 3 times to finish the fight. The quickest way down is running down either the left or right side of the room, dodging through the lines of orbs it fires at you, dodging behind it at the end, and hitting him. For the first two hits you will be flung back down the room and need to run up to him again. |
||
The Strongest Bond You defeated the berserk Kainé within three and a half minutes. |
||
This trophy is awarded during the fight with Kaine that occurs as the new final boss when you reach the end of the story after completing Ending B. After completing this fight you then get the choice for Ending C or D.
The fight has two parts to it, the first part she is in a shield with two tethers to the side, while large volleys of orbs are shot at you. You can’t do anything during this part, only avoid the orbs until the dialogue part finishes. The second part of the fight occurs after the dialogue and Kaine is basically just trying to melee you. She will attack multiple times, with occasionally the final attack also blasting out a wave or orbs. In this part you no longer have Weiss, so you just need to do your best to melee her. All of her melee attacks can be parried, and when countered this does a lot of damage. |
||
Daredevil You risked life and limb 10 times to discover someone’s secret. |
||
This trophy is earned while playing the Ending E route. You need to position the camera so that it is looking up Kaine’s skirt. She will chastise you and kick the camera away. Do this 10 times in a row to earn this trophy (and receive a Game Over you pervert). |
Wild_Dark_Shadow says
Nothing about that unknown trophy? It shows an image with an E, so probably another Ending?
The thing is that I read that one new ending was JP exclusive with an exclusive version of the game, is it true? It is strange appearing in WW version if so
Gage says
Info all filled in now for everything and updated some stuff about Ending D/E.
longjiaolong says
any trophy shop this time?
Gage says
No shop as far as is currently known.
Random Guy says
So is Kaine playable? Accoridng to last trophy Daredevil, that description looks like Kaine is a playable character.
Chii says
Does the shipwreck leave the beach after the Mermaid Princess quest is over? It’s hiding the item procurement spots and I’m concerned I might have missed my chance to farm Black Pearls… >.<
Gage says
Yes it goes away after that part of the story.
Viking_God_Thor says
How are the “kill Boss within XX minutes” not missable?
Gage says
Because you play through that part of the game minimum 3 times, and they’re practically handed to you on the third run through Part Two.
Sean Humphries says
Honestly if you do all the sid quests and are going for all upgrades in playthrough 1… you won’t even have to try for these
og says
So there isn’t a Trophy Shop like the one from Automata?
Gage says
No there isn’t
Tiduz says
Does the timer stop if i pause the game? For the 15 hr playtrough trophy?
Gage says
Timer runs at all times during the game, even paused and in cutscenes.
Fiel says
How new Sword in Ending E help with material grind ?
is it increase drop rate or just simply powerfuul weapon ?
Gage says
It’s the strongest one-handed sword in the game but has extremely low-level material requirements compared to the other high-level main game weapons, so it’s a great choice to upgrade instead of one of the other annoying material requirementsweapons.
VoltFieber says
The Recycled Vessel is a great location to farm Rare Materials (NieR 2010).
The free DLC has two starting Weapons with 150 attack, better than The Namless Blade. A good place to farm money early is the Junk Yard, just kill robots and sell everything that isn’t rare.
Marcos says
I caught the Rhizodont in the south of the desert near the boat. Wasnt expecting to because the guide claims it isn’t possible and can only be found in northern desert. I was only trying to catch the Hyneria but got the big boy instead. Maybe its just wayyy lower odds in the south and I just got lucky but it is definitely possible.
Sean Humphries says
That’s where I got mine, didn’t take long
Lava says
4 playthroughs is so annoying. I wish the trophy shop made a come back, I really don’t want to do so many repetitive tasks this trophy list seems to make you do
Asgard0822 says
thats NieR, the trophy shop was fucked up and lazy imo
Sean Humphries says
To be honest it’s more like 1 playthrough and 3 part playthroughs, I spent loads of time in the first getting 100%. You only play part 2 in the other 3 endings and you can easily rinse them all on 2-3 hours as you no longer have side quests and are super OP
Wire says
I have killed WELL over 100 sheep in Part Two and The Sheep Whisperer hasn’t popped???
bello says
me neither i think the information about the sheep trophy is wrong
N1nja says
Same. I’ve killed 200+ sheep in Part 2 and the trophy hasn’t popped. It’s either glitched or doesn’t work and can only be done in Part 1
m says
same. i guess it only works on p1 now
N1nja says
I’ve since reloaded a Part 1 save (right after Popola gives you the Northern Plains map) and can confirm I got the Sheep Whisperer trophy. Just kept going in and out and killing the 20-ish sheep there, trophy popped on the 6th trip. Definitely can’t be done via the boar in part 2.
Deathwing says
Actually you can buy carps in Seafront
Sean Humphries says
Yep, bait shop though not the fish shop, think that’s where people get thrown
Apple Jinx says
I can confirm the sheep minigame doesn’t count towards the sheep whisperer trophy. You can only do it in part one.
ZexionPonty92 says
Where is this minigame?
I know that it is supposed to be in Northern Plains, but I can’t find it. I’m on 2nd run.
Gage says
Straight out from the entrance of town along the right hand rock wall. I’ve changed the info in the guide though, the minigame doesn’t count towards sheep kills.
Saber says
After Ending E, can you continue the new playthrough you started for the speed run trophy?
Gage says
Yes you can go off that save you created after Ending D if you didn’t save over it with the one you got back from Ending E.
Noobmaster64 says
After Ending B and while going for Ending C and the boss speedruns, could I put the game on easy mode and auto-battle and still get the speed run boss trophies?
Gage says
In theory you could, would depend on how fast auto battle AI works. For most of the speedruns all you actually do is spam magic and stand directly against the enemies attacking, so it’s not exactly mechanically intensive to do them fast.
Sean Humphries says
I did all the speedruns bar Louise and C ending Kaine on ending A. By the time I had most of the materials from farming I was level 45 and could rinse everything, bosses or otherwise on Hard or Easy. Pop a strength capsule and just go nuts with a spear. I’m using Pheonix Spear and with 721 damage + 30% from words and 50% from capsule… you will kill bosses fast
DZ says
How do I get the act 1 swords once I am on ending B or later? The guide said I can but not how or where. I didn’t buy a couple and missed one other.
Gage says
Shop ones are still at the shops, pickup ones are in the same locations.
Dane says
Just FYI, should’ve put a missable warning on “daredevil”. I didn’t do it on the E route, and to get back to it is gonna take forever.
Gage says
You just trigger Ending D again
Dane says
I went to my save with that was in route D, it didn’t work because the other saves were restored. Basically you need to play the entirety of it again, wipe your saves from route D, and get to route E again. It just feels like a missable because you have to do a whole other ending to get to it again
Sean Humphries says
If anyone is struggling for the 100 hit combo, the amoured boar boss (Goose) is your friend. Unkillable, just lock on and spam triangle with a spear, you’ll keep taking him down and you can just keep hitting until trophy pops, super easy method
amoebius says
You can also cheese it during the “A Tale of the Study” side quest. You have to investigate the library at Emil’s mansion and will find a Shade that is protected by a shield and doesn’t fight back. Just equip your weakest weapon and slash away until you get 100 hits or more
myzzo says
“Gratitude” isn’t popping for me on my third run with the altered Louise boss ending, when is it supposed to pop?
Gage says
After the boss fight.
Luke says
Is the legendary Gardner missable ? It shows that on original NIER?
Gage says
In the normal missable sense no, because you can do it at any time and items in the garden always stay there through endings. If you left the game for 72 hours your flowers would die and you’d have to start those again, but you can’t lock yourself out of it at any point in a playthrough.
Davey says
“Book Burner” and “The Strongest Bond” trophies aren’t popping for me. I’m on my third playthrough and I even did a stopwatch for the Grimoire Noir fight and killed him at 27 seconds, still nothing.
VoltFieber says
Cutscenes after a Boss fight will count as time spent in battle.
Make sure you skip everything, play on easy and equip your best weapons/words.
I didn’t get the two for Beserker Kaine and the Twins, because i’ll wachted the cutscenes/novel segment.
Haethcyn says
Just to confirm, I’m on playthrough A and unlocked The Little Mermaid trophy, so it can be done on the first playthrough.
Gediminas says
i will not this again, just for the sake of trying, but guide is probably wrong with endings because i triggered ending D before C and nothing have happened. not going to try what’s with that because grind already made a toll. just gonna replay for ending C, then replay yet again all part 2 just to trigger ending D.
Dince says
So the guide says to skip all cutscenes for ending C as there are no new cutscenes, but for The Little Mermaid (Louise in 5 min) it says the boss changes in NG++. Is that truly the only change?
khaled says
Blue Marlin is caught using a lure and pulling in the first bite, not using a sardine
Antisocial says
How is this plainum only 3/10??? :D the amount of grinding gold and materials for “Man of Means” and “Forging Master” is incredible. Also you need 4 real-time days for the Legendary flower AND some sort of a speedrun. I dropped the pursuit of this trophy after 5 hours of unsuccessfully fishing sandfish
