Onward is the 48th main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Onward main scenario chapter.
- Starting Location: Laetny’s Cleft, Dhalmekia
- Requirement: Complete Out of the Shadow
- Reward: None
- Quest Info: Only a single Mothercrystal remains in Storm – Drake’s Tail, in the Crystalline Dominion. Clive and Jill set out the breach the borders of the Dominion and infiltrate its capital, Twinside – now the besieged seat of the Holy Empire of Sanbreque.
Objectives:
- Make for Boklad
- Defeat the bandits
- Make for Boklad
- Find Goetz
- Make for the Crimson Caravans
- Fulfill Eloise’s request
- Speak with Theodore
- Fulfill Eloise and Theodore’s request
- Speak with Goetz
- Enter the Crystalline Dominion
Make for Boklad
At the start of the quest, you’ll be in a new area on the west side of Dhalmekia that you couldn’t previously access. Follow the linear path ahead towards your objective of Boklad. Make sure you talk to the two guys along the side of the path to start the side quest, as it requires you to deal with some Bandits you need to deal with anyway to progress.
New side quests:
Defeat the bandits
Ahead in the area you’ll encounter said group of Bandits, take them out the couple of waves that appear.
Make for Boklad
After they’re dealt with you can break through the boards on the far side of the area to continue towards Boklad. After the scene, continue following the path all the way to the end.
Find Goetz
After the scene when entering the market, you’ll need to find Goetz. He’s standing on the east side of the path under a tarp.
Make for the Crimson Caravans
After hearing Goetz’ problem, you’ll need to head to the Crimson Caravans building. Head back towards the Obelisk and this is one of the first buildings into the town area.
Fulfill Eloise’s request
Eloise wants your help catching the thieves in the market, which will also help the issue of Goetz’ trade pass.
Subquest:
Speak with Theodore
After completing the subquest, speak with Theodore in the Chocobo pen.
Fulfill Eloise and Theodore’s request
Theodore is now tagging along with you to deal with the Cast Stones who were putting the children up to stealing.

With the Traders Pass re-acquired, you can head back to Goetz in the market area. There are also now a number of side quests available around Boklad you can do before continuing if you wish.
New side quests:
Enter the Crystalline Dominion
On the world map, select The Crystalline Dominion to continue to the next main quest.
This finishes Onward Main Quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI).
