Home Is Where the Hearth Is is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Home Is Where the Hearth Is side mission.
- Starting Location: Melve
- Quest Giver: N/A
- Requirement: Complete Readvent of Calamity side quest, then complete An Unsettling Encounter main quest
- Reward: 2200 XP, 12,000 G, Ring of Assurance
- Quest Description: A regiment of soldiers occupies Melve, keeping the villagers as prisoners in their homes and turning outsiders away.
Objectives:
- Speak with Lennart
- Procure four swords and give them to Lennart
- Repel the soldiers stationed in Melve
- Bring word of Melve to Ulrika in a few days’ time
- Meet Ulrika at nighttime
Starting Location: Home Is Where the Hearth Is
This quest can be started by returning to Melve when prompted by Brant after completing An Unsettling Encounter. You will need to bribe the guard at the gate to be let into the town, which starts the quest.
Speak with Lennart
Once you’ve gotten into town and triggered the quest, go up and speak with Lennart who is waiting inside Ulrika’s house.
Procure four swords and give them to Lennart
Lennart wants you to obtain four swords for him so that he and the other villagers can escape town. You have a few options for how to get them: take them from your own inventory, go somewhere else (Vernworth) and purchase them, or find the ones that had been confiscated from the townspeople. The confiscated weapons are being held in the building just west of the stone wall entrance into town.
If you had completed the side quest Brothers Brave and Timid earlier in the game then Ian offers to distract the guard for you, allowing you to sneak inside and grab the weapons from the chests in the storeroom.
Once you have obtained the swords through whichever means you prefer, go back to Lennart in Ulrika’s house to turn them in.
Repel the soldiers stationed in Melve
Now when you leave the house the soldiers will attack you and Lennart. Your pawns won’t be nearby for the fight, but the villagers help and you just need to fight back against the soldiers for about a minute before they back off.
Bring word of Melve to Ulrika in a few days’ time
The townspeople will now head to Harve Villge on their own. You can rest anywhere, then go to Harve to speak with Ulrika who should be out on the dock.
Meet Ulrika at nighttime
Ulrika wants you to come back and meet her at night. You can go nearby to the Bayside Home where there is a bench, where you can sit and doze off until it is dark out, then return to Ulrika who should still be waiting on the dock. After the scene, you will complete the quest.
