Introduction
Welcome to the MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics Trophy Guide! Marvel vs. Capcom games have been finally freed from their imprisonment on older generation consoles and can now finally be played by everyone again without any shenanigans. The collection comes with a total of 7 games, 6 of which are fighting games and one game being a side scroll beat’em up. All games can optionally be played online as well!
The trophies are all fairly easy to obtain. None of the trophies require you to play online, but it’s good to have a second controller to make some of the trophies easier.
General Tips & Info
- The game has a Quick Save feature, make frequent use of it to make some of the trophies easier!
- A second controller helps with some of the trophies. Should you not have one, having someone to help you out online is an alternative.
- You can set the difficulty for each game by pressing when hovering to the game in the selection menu. Make sure to set it to the easiest difficulty each time if you want to make the trophies simple.
- The game has an in-game tracker for every game, telling you which character you have finished the game with already.
Step 1: Tackle each fighting game individually, while using the Quick Save feature
Since you have to finish all 7 games with all the characters, you might think it will take a while, but luckily there is a super easy workaround that saves lots of time: you can let the final boss of each game beat you and create a quick save at the character selection after choosing to continue the run. You can then beat the boss with a character/team and once you get back to character selection, reload the quick save and choose someone else to do it with. It works for every single game, except for ‘The Punisher’. This is an incredible time-saver and you won’t need a full playthrough with every character because of it.
Step 2: The Punisher
The Punisher is not a regular fighting game, but a side-scroll beat’em up, so saving at the last boss does not work here that easily. Instead, the collection gives you another way to speed things up. When you start the game and see the intro you can press TOUCHPAD button on your controller and choose the final level as your starting point. Technically you don’t even have to beat the game fully, just 3 selected levels of the game for all the trophies are required.
Step 3: Cleanup
Once you are done with all the characters for each game, tackle all the trophies you are still missing for every game, should you not have unlocked them yet. You will surely be missing a few but they are not particularly difficult when you know what to do.

To Me, My X-Men! Play X-Men: Children of the Atom. |
||
Self-explanatory. Unlocks after beating the first stage of the game.
Uncanny X-cellence Complete X-Men: Children of the Atom. (Continues OK) |
||
Self-explanatory. Finish all the stages in the game.
Hyper X Finish KO an opponent in X-Men: Children of the Atom with a Hyper X move. |
||
Once the bar below your lifebar fills up, use your character’s Hyper X move to finish an enemy, you can do it with 2 controllers if you can’t do it regularly. In the preset button settings you can activate your Hyper X move by simply pressing .
Push It to the Limit Achieve a 50-hit combo in X-Men: Children of the Atom. |
||
Doing this regularly might actually require some skill, but there is also a very easy, yet a tiny bit luck-based way to perform a 50-hit combo. Use 2 controllers, for player 1 choose STORM and for player 2 choose SENTINEL. During the first round make sure to build up your entire Hyper-X bar with Storm and then finish Sentinel so round 2 starts. Now perform a QUICK SAVE in the TOUCHPAD menu. If you want to make it even easier you can go to Controller Settings and choose the move HAIL STORM to be a single button press. This is the Hyper X move which we will be using for the trophy.
What you want to do is to hit Sentinel with Storm’s Hail Storm Hyper X move while he is midair. Push him into the corner and have him jump all the time. Perform Storm’s Hail Storm and he will get hit by the hail a lot. He can get it by it betweeen 40 and 60 times while midair, so this is where the Quick Save comes in. Should you not get enough hits, simply reload and try again, it is a bit random how many times he gets hit by it, but still by far the easiest way to obtain this trophy since it basically requires only a single button press. |
||
Challenger from Another World Encounter Akuma (EN)/Gouki (JP) in Arcade Mode of X-Men: Children of the Atom. |
||
Make sure to perform all of the stuff below in every single round and you will be guaranteed to fight Akuma before the 6th stage:
Use Storm and as your go-to Hyper X use her Hailstorm, make sure it deals 10 hits at least once. That’s it. Abuse the Quick Save function in between each fight, or even during the rounds, before performing the Hyper X move to make sure it hits. You can set Hyper X to a single button to simplify it. |
||
War of the Gems Play Marvel Super Heroes. |

Note: not every character launches with down + heavy punch, Hulk as only an example.
Suitable Stones Activate the gem most suited to your selected character in Marvel Super Heroes. |
||
During your arcade playthrough you will obtain Infinity Stones from the enemies you defeat. Activating the stones with has unique feature for every single stone and for this trophy in particular, you will have to use the Stone + Character combination which has a special function. When you own multiple Infinity Stones, you can switch between them with the OPTIONS button. Below are the special combinations:

After selecting the characters, hold OPTIONS + with player 2 which will let you play on Chaos Dimension stage without relying on luck. Once on the stage hit player 2 with Juggenaut’s preset special move by pressing so he will break the wall and launch the opponent to the hidden area of that stage.

This One’s a Keeper! Pull off a pose on the victory message screen that nets 10,000 points in Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. |
||
While not extremely hard it is extremely annoying to obtain the trophy. Make sure to have the opponent at a very small amount of health and QUICK SAVE before KO’ing them. Marvel vs. Capcom has a hidden feature called “Pose Points”.
What are Pose Points?: After KO’ing your opponent, you can press OPTIONS button which will allow you to move around freely and perform moves. The game will start giving you points for time, health, etc. and once it is done with that, you will have ABOUT 1.5 seconds to perform a move before the screen freezes your pose. Some poses will reward you with points if you perform them well enough. The points vary from 1,000 up to about 30,000, depending on the move you performed during the freeze frame. What makes the trophy extremely annoying is the timing. You have to hit the pose perfectly to receive the points. The more points, the more strict the pose has to be. As an example see the picture below -> you will have to perform Chun-Li’s half-circle back + heavy kick and the screen has to freeze the moment she is perfectly in the handstand position for it to reward you 10,000 points. |
||
The Battle for Survival Begins! Play Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. |
||
Self-explanatory. Unlocks after beating the first stage of the game.
I Wanna Take You for a Ride Complete Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. (Continues OK) |
||
Self-explanatory. Finish all the stages in the game.
Exit, Stage Left Pull off a Snapback in Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. |
||
Perform down, down-forward, forward + or while having at least one super bar to perform a Snapback.
Galactic Smasher Pull off a Team Hyper Combo in Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (consumes 3 Hyper Combo Gauges). |
||
When having 3 super bars, perform each of a character’s Hyper Combos back to back, so one gets cancelled by the previous one. You can basically spam forward + for it since the game has Hyper Combos as a single button press for the standard controls.
Give ‘Em the Ol’ One-Two Deal simultaneous damage to active and reserve characters in Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. |
||
Once your opponent calls in an assist during the fight, hit them both. Due to the nature of this game, it’s practically a guaranteed automatic unlock.
If You Want Peace, Prepare for War Play The Punisher as Punisher. |
||
Self-explanatory. Unlocks after beating a stage of the game as Punisher.
Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Play The Punisher as Nick Fury. |

Like Fish in a Barrel Destroy 20 oil drums on the bonus stage in The Punisher. |

Oh, Thank You! Save Barbara from a jail cell in The Punisher. |
||
In the second level of the game you will run past some cells. Punch them and rescue Barbara in the cells.
Say Your Prayers! Reach the top of the offline rankings in The Punisher. |
||
You will need to reach 1,000,000 points at the end of your playthrough. A regular run will grant you probably between 5 and 6 Million so you are pretty much guaranteed to unlock it at the end of your playthough. During the intro sequence you can press TOUCHPAD and choose to start in the Final Stage of the game to speed things up, since the final stage alone will grant you more than required by itself.
Heroes Never Give Up In any game, use a continue for the first time. |
||
Simply choose to continue after getting defeated in any of the games.
Jaunt Across the Universe Play each game in the collection. |
||

Master of the Universe Complete each game in the collection. (Continues OK) |
||
Finish every game in the collection at least once, will unlock automatically while going for Monumental in the Multiverse.
Monumental in the Multiverse Complete each game in the collection with every character. (Continues OK) |
||
To unlock this trophy you will have to beat all the games in the collection with every single character in each of the game. While it sounds daunting at first, you can make use of the Quick Save feature to speed things up dramatically! You can let the final boss of each game beat you and create a quick save at the character selection after choosing to continue. You can then beat the boss with a character/team and once you get back to character selection, reload the quick save and choose someone else to do it with. It works for every single game, except for The Punisher. In The Punisher, you can simply choose the Final Stage with both characters at the start by pressing TOUCHPAD, to only have to finish a stage with both characters once for it to count.
Choose every character you see on the character select screen at least once, but make sure to also finish each game with its HIDDEN CHARACTERS! Below you can find the list of every hidden character in the games. X-Men: Children of the Atom
Marvel Super Heroes
X-Men vs. Street Fighter
Marvel Super Heros vs. Street Fighter -> Hold Options Button and then select the characters in the brackets to unlock special hidden characters
Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes
In the main menu of the game, you can go to FIGHTER AWARDS to see all the trophies you have unlocked so far and more importantly, pressing in this menu will let you see which characters you have finished the game with already. Only the medal being unlocked counts, not the number below it. The trophy was confirmed to unlock even though a medal had the number ZERO below it for whatever reason. |
Amaury says
If you not good at fight game or don’t have experience, is it still 3/10 difficult?
DK says
I found the easiest way to perform every trophy so it should not be difficult even if you are not great at fighting game. For absolute newbies to fighting games it might be a bit harder than a 3 but not by much since you can abuse the Quick Save function to save yourself.
anon says
You can use special/super move shortcuts.
Yakuzie says
I am mostly done, I just need Marvel vs Capcom and a little bit of Marvel vs Street Fighter. But the only real issue I’ve has was Cyber Akuma wrecking me in Marvel vs Street Fighter on a lot of characters.
Bryan says
The estimate says 10 hours but I was able to knock it out in 5. Overall, it’s an easy platinum to go along with an amazing collection
Amaury says
Do you recommend for me even tho I not good at fighting game and littite bit of experience
Joe says
Then there’s me struggling for hours to beat magneto in COTA with one character, while quick saving lol
LB says
I think you’re lying unless you abused quick save because it’s no way you just know how to play with every character in COTA to beat Magneto that fast
Claire says
How do I do local vs for the 50 hit combo trophy? I can’t seem to find it.
Maple says
Turn on another controller then press start while in characters selection with the second controller.
Ash says
The 50 hot combo can be easily done with iceman artic Attack
Mario says
Challenger from Another World
Encounter Akuma Is not working. I’m doing all the steps every time and nothing happens
Jubileu says
Same here, do it 4 times and nothing
DK says
I added a few more steps to the requirements. I literally mentioned everything I did, taking into consideration old rumours about the unlock requirements, etc.
Just play Storm as I did and do everyting I did as well. There is really nothing else one can say as a tip for that trophy. The game is ancient and for 20 years everyone came up with a different explanation of how to unlock that fight.
Jubileu says
Thanks, I did with Storm.
Previously i tried with Psylocke
Zavi says
I’m having trouble with A Duo of True Blue Hadokens. I’ve KO’d at least 3 people with Ryu and Ken’s Cross Over but still no unlock. Do you have any video guides for it?
Gen_Boredom says
I cannot for the life of me do the Raging Demon with Rogue. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
Snake2410 says
Go into the button setting and change the L2 button to the move. That way, you won’t have to manually do the buttons. They have to be done rather quickly the regular way.
TheHorrorNerd says
Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Play The Punisher as Nick Fury.
I feel really stupid but, how do you select Nick Fury?
Every time I hit start (options) it selects the Punisher.
Ash says
In the menu when choose the game, put in player J2
RikiT says
When you are at the game select screen for The Punisher, select P2, instead of the default P1, and then launch the game. You’ll be defaulted to Nick Fury.
P1 can be found where you select the game language.
Gety says
Another way of getting “This One’s a Keeper!”:
Select Jin. His Start button taunt that can be extended by rapidly mashing Light Kick (you might need to practice this in training mode first). After you KO your opponent, start his taunt and mash light kick as fast as you can. If you can make his entire body red, then you’ll net 30K points and the trophy will pop.
YourHeroChris says
Is anyone else struggling to beat Magneto in COTA? It’s like he’s a Dark Souls boss or something.
Snake2410 says
He can be tough, but he was way worse on the Sega Saturn version. I must still have some of my old skills with the game though, because with Wolverine I beat him on my first try at default *4 difficulty and damage. I did set matches to 1 though. When I did every other character though it took a lot of reloading to beat him.
Yakuzie says
the only one I am truly struggling with is Cyber Akuma. Magneto was annoying for roughly first 2-3 characters
Snake2410 says
FYI, since it’s not mentioned in the guide, but “That’s Raging Demon to You, Sugah” will not pop if you decide to use Rogue, with Akuma as your other character, to beat the final boss in X-Men VS Street Fighter and then they to do it in the VS match it makes you do at the end. It has to be in a 2 VS 2 match.
