Introduction
Welcome to the Metaphor ReFantazio Trophy Guide! Metaphor: Refantazio is the latest game from the creators of the Persona series. The game contains many mechanics similar to the Persona series such as Social Stats, and the Follower Rank working the same as Social Links. The game also features skills and Demons that can be found in Shin Megami Tensei games.
Step 1: Complete the game, following the 100% Guide
Your first step is to simply play through your first run of the game, and follow the Metaphor: ReFantazio 100% Walkthrough. Following this will net you every single trophy in the game, with the exception of Closing the Book which you’ll earn in step 2. You can select any difficulty you want for this step, but Storyteller is recommended for grinding efficiency, as you will earn money, MAG, and XP at a much faster rate.
Step 2: Speedrun through New Game+, while preparing to fight the Redscale Dragon Superboss
For this step, you’ll want to start on Easy Difficulty or higher, and speed through the game while preparing to fight the Redscale Dragon. He can only be fought in New Game+ which is why a second playthrough is necessary. Access to the Boss will be permanently disabled until your next playthrough if you select Storyteller difficulty at any point, so be sure to play on Easy difficulty or harder. It’s okay if Storyteller difficulty was selected on your first playthrough.
Be sure to grind materials and cook as many Sublime Spoonful items as you can, as these are the key to beating the Superboss easily. You should also consider maxing out Follower ranks once more, so you can unlock all of the Archetypes again. Once you reach the final dungeon, grind your level as much as you need to defeat the Redscale Dragon. Beating him will unlock your final trophy: Closing the Book .
If you happened to miss any trophies for whatever reason on your first playthrough, such as: Tactical Strike , Archetype Hero or Summon Mask Time this playthrough is a good time to finish them up.

Closing the Book Defeated the redscale dragon from the Book of Apocalypse. |
||
Missable! The Redscale Dragon is an extremely powerful Superboss that can only be battled on a New Game Plus. You can fight the Dragon by selecting the Book of the Apocalypse in Akademia. Access to the Boss will be permanently disabled until your next playthrough if you select Storyteller difficulty at any point, so be sure to play on Easy difficulty or harder. It’s okay if Storyteller difficulty was selected on your first playthrough. While you are on your second playthrough, be sure to grind materials and cook as many Sublime Spoonful items as you can, as these will be extremely useful for the fight. You should also consider maxing out Follower ranks once more, so you can unlock all of the Archetypes again. For easy strategies refer to: Metaphor ReFantazio Superboss Guide. |
||
Star Shatterer Defeated Destroyer Charadrius, wielder of true power. |
||
Missable!
Destroyer Charadrius is an alternate version of the final boss that is battled on 10/26. In order to access this battle, you must avoid fighting any of the Sub-bosses on the 10/26 dungeon, then head to the Final Boss and defeat it. Do not take any of the elevators that lead to the Sub-bosses, as defeating any one of these bosses will weaken the boss and lock you out of earning this trophy. If you do want to battle the Sub-bosses to get some powerful weapons, be sure to do so after you earn this trophy, then you can reload your save and defeat them all before rechallenging the Final Boss. Destroyer Charadrius is a very difficult boss when you haven’t weakened it. Be sure you are a high level and use debuff skills such as debilitate often, as well as other support spells like Marakukaja and Heat Riser. If you are really struggling with this boss, you can easily cheese this Trophy by playing on the Storyteller difficulty, which will allow you to revive and continue as many times as you like when you get a game over. |
||
Archetype Adept Mastered an Archetype. |
||
To earn this Trophy reach level 20 with any Archetype. You will earn this trophy on the way to Archetype Hero where you’ll need to reach max rank with every Archetype. For more information see Archetype Hero .
Archetype Hero Mastered all Archetypes with the protagonist. |
||
Missable!
There are many Archetypes in the game, which will all be unlocked by the time each of the follower’s ranks are at max. Be sure to follow the 100% Walkthrough to make sure you Max out all of the Follower ranks in a single playthrough. Once you have all of the Archetypes unlocked, you’ll need to reach Level 20 with every single one of them. The best location to do this is on the 10/26 dungeon. There is a spot with multiple enemy spawners that will infinitely spawn Humans, which you can keep defeating in order to earn XP items that level up your Archetypes. Be careful not to destroy the enemy spawners, because the Humans will stop spawning if you do. If you happen to accidentally destroy a spawner, be sure to reload your save file. Playing on Storyteller difficulty will allow you to earn XP at a much faster rate, so consider swapping to it if you are on your first playthrough. |
||
His Majesty Studied the Prince Archetype. |
||
Story-related and unmissable, you will earn this trophy on 09/24.
United Front Used a Synthesis skill. |
||
On the day 06/11 you will unlock the ability to use Synthesis skills. To use a Synthesis skill press and two party members will attack at once, earning you this trophy.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work Used 50 different Synthesis skills. |
||
Synthesis skills can be used by pressing the button during combat once you have unlocked them. They require two party members, and are usually powerful skills. Each Archetype has multiple Synthesis skills that can be used when specific requirements are met. You can check the requirements to use a Synthesis skill under the Archetype menu.
You should be able to unlock this Trophy without issue if you use all the new Synthesis skills that appear in battle every time you swap Archetypes. |
||
For Science! Performed a Special Experiment. |
||
There are two types of Special Experiments that can be performed at Akademia, these are: Masks and Vessels. Masks will be unlocked after completing Charadrius, and Vessels will be unlocked after completing the Dragon Temple. Perform any Special Experiment in order to earn this trophy. You will earn this on the way to the Summon Mask Time Trophy.
Summon Mask Time Created all summoning vessels and masks. |
||
Missable!
You will need to collect various items in order to create all of the Vessels and Masks. Vessel items mostly require you to earn Talisman items that can be found in chests and by defeating bosses, these will be covered in the 100% Walkthrough, so be sure to follow it. Masks have more of a random factor, and enemies will randomly drop them. You can increase the item drop chance by using skills learned from the Merchant Archetype. Masks can also be purchased from the Weary Shopkeep Eugief on Seabreeze Street after you learn about his Business. Keep in mind, all created vessels and masks carry over into New Game+, so you don’t need to do this in a single playthrough. |
||
Stunning! Stunned an enemy. |
||
You will likely unlock this during the tutorial on 06/05. If you still need this trophy after the tutorial, all you need to do is slash any enemy from behind in order to stun them. If you do happen to be extremely overleveled, this isn’t missable, as you will always be able to stun Elementa enemies, though their appearance is rare.
Tactical Strike Inflicted ambush damage against stunned enemies 100 times. |
||
When stunning an enemy and then engaging them in a battle, you will automatically damage them, each time you do this, it will count towards this trophy. Keep in mind that if you are overleveled, you will not be able to stun enemies because you can only stun Yellow and Red enemies. Blue enemies will automatically be defeated before you can stun them.
What’s Yours is Mine Stole an item from an enemy. |
||
You can steal an item by using the skill ‘Steal’ after unlocking the Thief Archetype. You will unlock the Thief Archetype when Heismay joins the party.
Money is Power Spent a total of 100,000 reeve using skills that consume money. |
||
Archetypes from the Merchant Lineage will learn skills the require you to spend reeve in order to use. Once you use 100,000 Reeve’s worth of skills, you’ll earn this trophy. The Money Power Synthesis skill costs 9999 reeve to use, and is a great way to earn this trophy quickly.
Stray Elements Defeated 10 Elmentas. |
||
Elementas are a rare type of enemy that drop good loot when defeated. They look like colored orbs, and they often run away, so be sure to stun them and use your strongest attacks in order to defeat them. After defeating 10 Elementas, you will earn this trophy.
No Mercy Ended 50 battles without taking damage. |
||
When you complete a battle without taking damage, you will earn an “Unscathed Triumth” Bonus, which will increase your total rewards. Complete 50 battles with the bonus to earn this trophy. The easiest way to do this, is to stun an enemy first and use your strongest attacks to end the battle quickly. You can also engage in a battle with weaker enemies and defeat them all quickly without issues.
All That Glitters Made all possible gold beetle exchanges. |
||
Gold Beetle exchanges become avaliable once you unlock the third area. You will need to trade 46 Gold Beetles in total to earn this trophy, but there is a little over that to find, so there is leeway if you accidentally miss some. It should also be noted that untraded gold beetles carry over into New Game+, so if you don’t find enough on your first playthrough, consider keeping them on you without trading them in so you can carry them over into New Game+.
Be sure to check out the 100% Walkthrough or the Gold Beetle Guide if you need help locating them. |
||
Hey, Listen! Consulted Gallica 100 times. |
||
You can earn this trophy by talking to Gallica 100 times by pressing when you aren’t in a cutscene or dungeon. This doesn’t need to be unique dialogue, so you can keep talking to her 100 times until you earn this trophy.
Eventually, you will be able to consult Gallica about requests and Follower locations, in order to teleport to them. You’ll likely be doing this every day and will earn this naturally. |
||
Shake on It Obtained a Follower. |
||
Story-related and unmissable, unlocks on 06/05. See Hearts as One for information on how to max out all follower ranks.
Hearts as One Maxed all Follower ranks. |
||
Missable!
There are Fourteen Followers in total, each one having 8 Ranks each. Please follow the 100% Walkthrough in order to obtain max rank with all Followers. |
||
King of Cuisine Made all recipes. |
||
Missable!
There are a total of 21 recipes in the game, you will unlock a few recipes each time a new party member joins, and you’ll unlock the 21st recipe after cooking the first 20. If you are following the 100% Walkthrough, you should earn this trophy, but if you don’t, all created recipes carry over and will be marked with a tick when you have finished cooking them. |
||
Monster Hunter Subjugated a bounty. |
||
You will earn this trophy after completing any Bounty Quest that can be accepted at The Recruitment Centre. The first avaliable Bounty Quest is “Man’s Not-So Best Friend.” which requires you to Defeat Manjula in the Desert. After turning in the quest, you’ll earn this trophy.
Help Anyone in Need Completed all quests. |
||
Missable!
This trophy requires you to beat every Main and Side Quest in the game. Be sure to follow the Quest Guide if you need help completing any quests, and the 100% Walkthrough to make sure you don’t miss any. |
||
Blessed Power Purified a piece of equipment. |
||
Go to St. Fermis Church in Gran Trad and purify an item to earn this Trophy. Items that can be purified can be found in numerous places, such as chests during dungeon runs. You shouldn’t have much issue finding an item to purify, and the cost will be fairly cheap.
Shrewd Shopper Bought an item on discount. |
||
On Idlesday, many shop icons will be red, indicating that they have items on sale for a discount. Buy any item on sale to earn this trophy.
The earliest point to earn this trophy is on 06/15. |
||
Globetrotter Visited all towns. |
||
Towns can be visited on the way to Dungeons, and most of them have quests tied to them. The Silento town however, does not have a quest tied to it. You will earn this trophy by following the 100% Walkthrough.
Worldly Wisdom Unlocked the entire map. |
||
New locations on the map will be unlocked by accepting quests, progressing with the story, and purchasing information. You will earn this trophy by following the 100% Walkthrough.
Vista Viewer Collected all drawings of the journey. |
||
While traveling to locations on the Gauntlet Runner, Neuras may chime on the comms making a quick detour. You will gain some Wisdom, and collect a drawing. For further details on how to collect all the drawings follow the 100% Walkthrough.
Debate Me Won a debate against every candidate. |
||
Missable!
Debates can be done at the Podium for the current area you are in during the story. The following Candidates will be available to debate on these specific days. The correct answer to win the debate will be listed next to each Candidate’s name.
These choices will also be found on the corresponding days if you are using the 100% Walkthrough. |
||
Coliseum Champion Won 30 consecutive Gold Class battles at the coliseum. |
||
The Gold Arena Gauntlet will be unlocked once you have reached Gold Rank in the Arena Ranked Matches. Challenge the Gold Arena Gauntlet and win all 30 battles without quitting in order to earn this trophy. If you are having trouble, you can swap to Storyteller difficulty, but keep in mind you won’t be able to swap the difficulty back unless you reload your save. This trophy is covered in the 100% Walkthrough.
Sword Surfer Travelled a significant distance by blade-riding. |
||
You can Blade-ride by pressing while traveling around outside of dungeons. The distance required for this trophy is more than you might think, and you probably will not earn this trophy naturally if you use the Fast Travel feature often. You can easily grind this trophy by blade-riding around in a circle for around 10-20 Minutes. It’s best to hold out on grinding this trophy until you are near the end of the game, as you will have made some progress towards this trophy while playing through the Story.
Chef in Training Helped cook a meal at the inn with Maria. |
||
Missable!
Once you have maxed Maria’s Follower Rank. You can talk to Fabienne and help her prepare food. Maria will then join in and help you cook, this will then unlock the Trophy. Keep in mind that you can’t cook with Fabienne in October. This trophy is covered in the 100% Walkthrough. |
||
Entrusted Overcame all the trials to defeat Louis. |
||
You will earn this trophy on the way to Help Anyone in Need as it requires you to complete the 4 different Trial of the Dragon Side Quests. These battles can be difficult, so consider swapping to Storyteller difficulty if you are having trouble. Just keep in mind that you will not be able to swap back difficulty after selecting Storyteller until you start a new playthrough. Be sure to note that you can’t bring any items that will repel or drain attacks, or the boss will instantly wipe out your party.
At Your Own Risk Successfully challenged the test of courage at the highest difficulty. |
||
This trophy is misleading as it sounds like you have to complete a Challenge on the game’s hardest difficulty, but it can actually be done on any difficulty. This trophy only requires you to spend time at the Bungee Jump in the second area, Martira on 3 separate occasions. This trophy is covered in the 100% Walkthrough.
Bookworm Finished reading all the books. |
||
Missable!
Books take three sessions to fully read, and there are seven books in total. These books can only be read on the Gaunlet Runner whilst it is traveling. Six books are automatically accessible as the Story progresses, and the seventh book only be obtained after speaking to Juilien at Angler’s Inn Square. This will unlock the final book ‘The Magical Future’. This trophy is covered in the 100% Walkthrough. |
DVFOX says
Can you start the game on Normal, play normally, and if the guide has a moment of grinding before doing something, be able to change to Safety and then go back to Normal again?
Monomaru says
You sadly can’t go back to normal after selecting Storyteller, so if you choose it, you won’t be able to swap to a higher difficulty until your new game plus.
Joekido says
What carries over to NG+?
Can you post a world map with all locations on it?
Finch says
I guess i know what game i am playing for the next month or so. Thank you for the guide!
Jslo says
Do you happen to know if they track trophies obtained during the demo? Are they counted when you boot up the game? Do they pop upon getting your first new trophy? Or would we be stuck replaying from the beginning?
Monomaru says
I’m unsure on this, however most of what’s in the demo is the first few dungeons, which you will be doing regardless on a new game plus. I can confirm these trophies will unlock on a NG+
James says
Looks great as usual! I’m becoming increasingly aware of how much i rely on you guys for new games so in case you guys don’t hear it enough allow me to give my most sincerest thank you for allowing me to enjoy new games to their maximum level. Very much looking forward to this one knowing i can explore every corner of it with a walkthrough.
Dragoon says
Do we know if importing a demo save auto pop trophies?
BlackTorito says
Nice!
One question, how different is the grind from Storyteller to Normal difficulty? I’d like to know if it’s a big deal or not, as I usually enjoy standard difficulty.
Monomaru says
The grind in the final dungeon took me a good 5 hours or so to max all of the Archetypes when I was on Normal. The other two working on guides played on Storyteller, and it only took them about 30 minutes. The difference is very significant.
Bob says
I don’t wanna read the trophy specifics in case of spoilers so I need to ask:
Is it safe to play the demo and get your save transferred to the full game? Will I miss out on any trophies?
KA says
Thanks for coming through again Pyx. Was hoping they’d bypass the need for a day to day guide for the Plat but I’m pumped to get into this one.
SonnenKarma says
Haleluja!! I’m really happy, that its only long and not hard at the the same time.
Keep up the good work!!!
KidVicious says
No autopop and a full second playthrough is a shame. Wondering if the best approach to get both Platinums would be to save transfer after beating the game, do your NG+ speedrun on the other version to earn all the story trophies again, then transfer it back one last time for the Redscale Dragon?
Monomaru says
Saving right before you earn a trophy and the transferring your save over to the other version would probably be the best way.
KidVicious says
Monomaru: Not sure it would be the best way, save transferring after every trophy is time consuming and you still have to play the game twice regardless?
Monomaru says
You could always do it with specific trophies that are more grindy such as all followers, and do the story progression trophies on another playthrough.
Dgr1zzle says
Wait so how far into your second playthrough Do you have to play for that final super boss trophy ? All the way to the end of the game again?
Monomaru says
You can technically do it at the start but it’s not feasible until you are at least level 60 or so. The fastest way to get to that level is to just speedrun through and grind the final dungeon.
Aaron says
How fast can a second playthrough for the super boss be done?
Monomaru says
It won’t take too long since you’ll be skipping all of the cutscenes and side dungeons, it will take less than 20 hours.
Jay says
Can I just enjoy the first playthrough or do I need to follow the walkthrough to make sure the platinum comes in the second playthrough?
Monomaru says
You need to do a nearly full playthrough on playthrough 2 anyway, so if you want, you can use the 100% guide for whatever you are missing on playthrough 2. It will take longer this way though, as you might end up doing all of the side dungeons twice, since you might miss the all quests trophy.
Ben says
So basically a complete second play through? When you said speed run, how many hours is NG how many for NG+ speed run?
McIntyre0591 says
Could you do a blind 1st playthrough and a 100% for the 2nd to get the secret boss? Or do you have to do something specific in the 1st playthrough to unlock it in NG+?
Monomaru says
Yep, if you want to do this you can, you’ll still earn the Platinum doing this!
E says
Y’all wouldn’t happen to know if you already had a maxed out archetype from the demon if it will happen to interfere with the trophy for maxing out all the protagonists archetype popping?
dyoqi says
What archtypes do you recommend or what is the best way to level them up?
Monomaru says
The best locations to grind are at spawning pods, the most efficent ones are at the final dungeon. No Archetypes boost xp but the Merchant one is good for grinding as it gives you money and items.
Aaron says
How fast can I do a ng+ for clean up?
bestsense228 says
Thank you!!!
Phillip says
I have two save files which one is Easy and other is Storyteller. Can I beat that one on easy and then go back to my other save file on Storyteller and it would count or do I need to do a full playthrough on new game plus?
Nguikk says
No, you can’t. The superboss can only be fought on a Clear Save Data (a.k.a New Game Plus), hence required two playthroughs.
GuyMont says
Star Shatterer is the worst trophy, not the hardest but the worst. The fight takes forever, esp. if the guy uses his “haha you only have 1 turn icon” move. And all his animations are so slow. Not fun at all.
DVFOX says
So when the guide says “Speedrun”, can you just skip the side quests and focus on fishing/cleaning for Tail Bait etc, RANK UP all the followers (Do the followers’ sidequests, tho)?..Or it’s better to repeat the entire guide again?
Also, if some stuff can be skipped, what should we do in those days?. Fishing and cooking the Sublime Spoonful recipe?.. That’s some data that needs to be known, along getting Elixir potions, etc for the Superboss…
SaveShock says
I was following your first 100% guide for this Game but today I’ve seen that you have changed. Where can I find the previous guide? Because you’ve made a lot of changes and now I fell completely lost about the activities and the quest made.
PowerPyx says
The original version is still available here. If you were mid-walkthrough you can follow the old version.
Tyrel says
Does anyone know if the Tactical Strikes carry over to new game+? I’m at the final dungeon and I was grinding those gold tooth enemies for the ambush strikes, but once I hit level 92, they became 1 hit kills.
Nguikk says
Switch to a weaker weapon, it might not 1 hit kill the enemy
Stockton572 says
I’d like to point out that sources have said that “Chef in Training” can be obtained with Maria at least at Rank 2, not max rank as this guide suggests. I got mine recently with Maria at Rank 3 on 07/06.
HHM says
for the trophy “Money is Power”, all the skills am using are costing zero reeve ?!!
did I do something wrong?
