  • Online Trophies: 0

Introduction

Welcome to the Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide! Valkyrie Elysium is the first console game released in the Valkyrie series of JRPGs in over a decade, this time being an action RPG playing much closer to character action games like Devil May Cry over traditional JRPGs. You take on the role of the Valkyrie, traveling through Midgard freeing souls and trying to prevent Ragnarok from occurring.

Most of the trophy list consists of standard JRPG fare, requiring the completion of all side content and fully upgrading your character. You are required to do 2 playthroughs, as the difficulty trophies do not stack. There is also currently no NG+, so you are required to start both playthroughs from scratch (though you can skip the tutorial).

Step 1: Play the game on Normal, completing all Subquests as you progress

Your first playthrough should be on Normal difficulty. Since the difficulty trophies don’t stack it’s generally easier to start on Normal and use that as your first playthrough where you complete everything and also obtain all S Ranks. You don’t need to worry about doing any grinding for Gems to upgrade weapons or skills, just play all subquests as they become available and you should have more than enough resources to upgrade everything by the end of the game. It doesn’t matter which ending you do first, chapter 9 can be replayed to trigger the other endings so none of them are missable.

Step 2: Cleanup and SSS Weapon Proficiency

Once you’ve finished your normal playthrough completing all content, you may just have some cleanup of things like S Ranks and miscellaneous trophies. You should also then work on reaching SSS proficiency with all main game weapons, which requires some grinding.

Step 3: Play the game on Hard, triggering Ending 3

Finally, you should just have your Hard difficulty playthrough left. Since you completed everything on Normal already, you should know what to expect from all enemies and bosses, and can rush through the game without needing to upgrade everything or worry about all the side content with rewards you don’t need. You can also trigger Ending 3 (agree to Armand’s offer) thus ending Chapter 9 very early and skipping the final boss fights.

Information on Mid-Chapter Trophy Unlocks

Valkyrie Elysium is set up with a mission-based setup, where you select missions from the hub and play through them. In the longer story chapters you are able to save and leave the game, but because of how the game tracks progress most of the trophies in the game don’t actually unlock until you complete the chapter and return to the hub. The game warns you if you select to return to Valhalla from the mid-mission save points that it won’t save any of your progress, and it does mean this. The game won’t keep track of any of the items you picked up mid-chapter, it only saves them when you complete them.

This matters for trophies because everything that isn’t for some one-off actions (300 combo, 2 kills with 1 Lightning Bolt) won’t pop until you complete the current chapter, even if you complete the requirement early. Be aware of this and don’t worry when trophies like collecting one Hollow Blossom don’t pop mid-mission, they’ll be awarded at the end.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Twilight of the All-Father
Defeated Odin
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for defeating Odin, who is the final boss when you trigger Ending 1 of the game (See :bronze: Unbound Possibilities for more information about endings). This fight starts out with you fighting each of your Einherjar by yourself (similar to the Training Ground subquests). These fights are generally much easier than those though, just be aware of the elemental weakness of each character and you should be able to finish them quickly.

After defeating all 4 characters they will return to you, and you will now fight Odin. He is weak to Holy, so stick with using Kristoffer and Grave Edge to Elemental Crush him. You can also use Nibelung Valesti against him, which makes him a pretty big pushover at this stage assuming you’ve completely upgraded Valkryie and completed all side content.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Twilight of the Great Wolf
Defeated Fenrir
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for defeating Fenrir, who is the final boss when you trigger Ending 2 of the game (See :bronze: Unbound Possibilities for more information about endings). You’ve already fought Fenrir twice in this ending, but this third time is the “real” fight and the final one for this ending.

Fenrir is still weak to Holy, so like Odin stick with using Kristoffer and Grave Edge. They behave mostly the same as the prior two fights, the main change is that now they use a bunch more area attacks and magic, so it’s a bit more hectic and hard to keep track of. You can use Nibelung Valesti against Fenrir, just be careful that they don’t jump away as soon as you try to cast it. A good way to use it is by triggering Elemental Crush and Immobilize, then using the attack right before Immobilize runs out.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap A Momentary Escape
Agreed to Armand’s offer
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for completing Ending 3 of the story, which is triggered by talking to Armand in Chapter 9 and picking the second dialogue option (regardless of any other prior actions). This immediately ends the Chapter and counts as completing the game.

See :bronze: Unbound Possibilities for more information about endings.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Unbound Possibilities
Completed every ending
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
The trophy is awarded for completing all 4 endings of the game. The endings are all determined by talking to Armand during chapter 9, and whether you have collected all Verdant Blossoms through the chapters. The endings aren’t missable, as the Verdant Blossom reappears each time you play through Chapter 9 (meaning you aren’t locked out of doing Ending 1 if you do Ending 4 first and so on). You can choose to do them in any order you want, but the order listed below is the order recommended for narrative story reasons.

Ending 1 – For this ending, you need to go speak with Armand in Chapter 9, located in the northeast corner of the map in a side area. DO NOT pick up the final Verdant Blessing to trigger this ending (if you do pick it up this triggers Ending 4).

After the scenes with Armand you are presented with a text choice, choose the first option and you will be returned to the chapter 9 area and can continue as normal. At the end of the chapter you will fight Odin as the very final boss (see :Silver: Twilight of the All-Father trophy for info about that fight).

Ending 2 – For this ending, you just need to complete Chapter 9 without talking to Armand. Picking the Verdant Blosson isn’t needed and you should ignore Armand and proceed through the area. In this ending, you fight Fenrir a third time instead of fighting Odin (see :gold: Twilight of the Great Wolf for info about that fight).

Ending 3 – For this ending, you want to speak with Armand again in Chapter 9, but this time select the second option in the text choice (you can skip all cutscenes prior to this, they’re all the same each time). When you choose the second option the game ends immediately, and you also earn the trophy A Momentary Escape. This does still count as completing the Chapter/game, so for S Rank and Hard difficulty it’s recommended you do this ending to skip the majority of the Chapter.

Ending 4 – For this ending, you need to collect all Verdant Blossoms in the game (including the one early in Chapter 9) then speak with Armand once again. Choose the first dialogue option as you did for Ending 1, then complete the game as normal. You can skip the scenes with Armand, but can now read the collection entries from the Verdant Blossoms if you wish. Once you enter the pit there will be different scenes and you’ll fight some enemies, then both Fenrir and Odin boss fights from Endings 1 and 2 occur back to back, followed by another fight unique to this ending.

This trophy is awarded for completing any 20 subquests.  If you complete every subquest as soon as possible, you can earn this after Chapter 6.

See :gold: Savior of the Dead for more information.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Savior of the Dead
Completed all subquests
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy requires completing all 36 subquests in the game on one save. Subquests are short extra chapters you unlock by either interacting with whisps or orbs that appear during chapters or by speaking with your companions in Valhalla between chapters when they have the subquest icon showing on them on the map screen. None of the subquests are “hidden”, you can check the map during missions and make sure not to miss the pickups for them as you progress through each chapter. If you complete all subquests as soon as possible, you will earn this trophy after you complete the “Midgardian Studies (3)” subquest after Chapter 8.

The majority of the subquests are easy to complete. You will return to one of the story areas, run through and defeat more enemies, maybe pick up some items, then you’re done. You don’t need to worry about grabbing any new Blossoms in subquests, so can just run through them quickly. The only subquests that can really be difficult are the 4 Training Ground ones. See the end of the trophy description for details on these.

The below list shows the order that the subquests are listed in-game in each region, so if you are missing one it is easier to compare against the list. The list includes the chapter the subquest is obtained in or whatever other unlock requirement they might have.

Be’elzean Territory

  • Thanks to a Comrade (1) – Eygon after Chapter 3
  • Cypher’s Belief (1) – Cypher after Chapter 4
  • Mother’s Ring – Chapter 1
  • A Dead Man’s Warning – Chapter 1
  • An Imprisoned Soul (1) – Chapter 6
  • My Hometown – Chapter 2
  • Midgardian Studies (2) – Orb in library after Chapter 6 (and complete prior subquest)
  • Thanks to a Comrade (3) – Eygon after Chapter 5 (and complete prior subquest)

Galdban Territory

  • O’ Mine Beloved Land – Chapter 3
  • A Blacksmith’s Wish – Chapter 6
  • An Old Man’s Discerning Eye – Chapter 3
  • The Unfinished Masterpiece – Chapter 4
  • Years of Ill Will – Chapter 4
  • An Imprisoned Soul (2) – Chapter 7
  • Midgardian Studies (1) – Orb in library after Chapter 5
  • Cypher’s Belief (3) – Cypher after Chapter 6 (and complete prior subquest)
  • Woes of a Gallant Princes (1) – Kristoffer after Chapter 6

Lucardan Territory

  • Village Request (1) – Chapter 5
  • Village Request (2) – Chapter 5
  • Mother, Where Art Thou? – Chapter 5
  • Long Lost Reconciliation – Chapter 5
  • Forever a Child in a Parent’s Eyes – Chapter 5
  • Thanks to a Comrade (2) – Eygon after Chapter 5 (and complete prior subquest)
  • Woes of a Gallant Princes (2) – Kristoffer after Chapter 6 (and complete prior subquest)
  • Woes of a Gallant Princes (3) – Kristoffer after Chapter 7 (and complete prior subquest)

Romalian Territory

  • A Mage’s Miscalculation – Chapter 6
  • Midgardian Studies (3) – Orb in library after Chapter 8 (and complete prior subquest)
  • Secrets Hidden in Danger – Orb in library after Chapter 7
  • Cypher’s Belief (2) – Cypher after Chapter 6 (and complete prior subquest)
  • The Flower for Thee (1) – Taika after Chapter 7
  • The Flower for Thee (2) – Taika after Chapter 7 (and complete prior subquest)
  • The Flower for Thee (3) – Taika after Chapter 7 (and complete prior subquest)

Training Ground

  • Training Duel with Eygon – Automatically available after completing Chapter 6
  • Advice for Cypher – Automatically available after completing Chapter 6
  • A Bout with Kristoffer – Automatically available after completing Chapter 6
  • Combat Training for Taikia – Automatically available after completing Chapter 6

These 4 Training Ground subquests are overall the hardest in the game. This is because they are fights against your Einherjar, and you’re not allowed to use the others during the fight, just your normal attacks and Divine Arts. This can make them quite difficult, especially the fights against Eygon and Kristoffer due to how tanky they are, and they’ll constantly guard against your attacks and instantly counter you. If you want to try them right when they’re available make sure to SAVE YOUR GAME beforehand. These subquests can’t be exited out of when you start them if you are failing, you can only reload a prior save, so do that if you get stuck or feel you’re wasting too many resources. The much easier way to deal with them is to wait until after Chapter 8 when you obtain Nibelung Valesti I (or II after completing the final subquest). Using it on the Einherjar will nearly instantly defeat them, or do over half their health in damage, so you can just use it a second time to finish them off. This saves a lot of trouble trying to fight them legitimately and potentially using up a ton of consumables to get through the fights.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap A Loyal Servant
Obtained “S” rank on a quest
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for earning an S rank after completing any chapter or subquest.

See The All-Father’s Right Hand for more information.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap The All-Father’s Right Hand
Obtained “S” rank on every quest
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for earning an S rank after completing EVERY chapter and subquest. Mission ranking serves mostly to show how well you did when completing each mission, but doesn’t offer any other sort of explicit rewards.

The way grading works is that you obtain the majority of your score from completion time; completing the mission faster results in a higher starting score (this seems to effectively start at 30,000 and decrease the longer you take, but you’re not going to ever get exactly 30,000). You then lose score based on how many items you used and how much total damage you took. You then gain bonus score based on how many times you did actions in the mission, and finally lose a large chunk of points if you died and restarted from a checkpoint.

The score for S Ranks isn’t 100% specific, but it generally requires getting 30,000 to 31,000 points total (a handful of short subquests you can obtain S Rank with around 29,000 points). As long as you don’t die or take an extreme amount of time to complete missions then S Ranks are relatively easy to earn on Normal difficulty. The story chapters are a little harder due to length.

Note that two of the bonus criteria are “Divine Arts Count’ and “Einherjar Summoned”. You don’t need to actually hit enemies with either of these for them to count towards this total, so you can actually use this to your advantage for extra score. The first time you interact with each save point in a chapter it replenishes your Soul and Arts Gauges, so before interacting with each save point you can spam your Divine Arts and Einherjar until you can’t use them anymore, then interact with the save point to get all of your Gauges back.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap An Impure Soul
Purified a monster
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is awarded for killing any normal “monster” enemy and is earned during the tutorial, BUT it doesn’t actually unlock until the tutorial is completed and you return to Valhalla.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap An Impure Beast
Purified a Naglfar
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is awarded for killing any boss monster (called Naglfar) so is earned when you complete Chapter 1, BUT it doesn’t actually unlock until you fully complete the chapter and return to Valhalla.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Combo Master
Raised the Combo Gauge to 300 Hits
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Like traditional character action games, Valkyrie Elysium has a combo gauge that increases when you or your Einherjar deal damage to enemies. This is mostly just for fun, as reaching combo thresholds doesn’t specifically do anything or grant any rewards.

The combo gauge goes all the way to 999, so you’re basically being asked to reach 1/3 of the limit of it. At the start of the game, this may seem daunting (and effectively impossible) but becomes very manageable once you unlock your Einherjars to use in combat. All attacks from your Einherjars also count along with your own attacks, so once you have at least Eygon and Cypher available this becomes mostly about how quickly you are progressing through levels. The gauge that shows how long the combo is lasting takes a bit to count down when you max it out, so try to keep it near max by attacking enemies with elemental weakness. If you don’t obtain this while playing through earlier levels, you will almost certainly obtain this while replaying Chapter 9 for endings, and it is just a number of enemy waves all in a row while progressing through the area, with very little time in between to drop combo.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Pitfall
Purified a monster by pushing them into a hole or off a cliff
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for defeating an enemy by knocking them off a ledge. You may earn this through a normal playthrough of the game, but if you need to earn it purposely a good spot to do it is midway through Chapter 3 (or in half of the subquests in Galdban Territory). Between the 4th and 5th savepoint you will eventually cross a bunch of wooden platforms over the water, and there are a set of archers on the platforms. Knock one of them off into the water and you will earn this trophy. You can do this fairly easily by locking onto one and Soul Chaining to them, then attacking them while still in the air. This typically lifts them up as you attack and pushes them backward, hopefully off of the ledge and into the water.
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Lightning Strike
Defeated two monsters with a single Lightning Bolt
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Lightning Bolt is one of the first Divine Arts you obtain in the game, and very helpful all the way through. It changes damage through multiple enemies in range, making it very useful whenever there are groups of enemies together. For this trophy, you specifically need to defeat 2 enemies with one usage of the attack. If you stick with using Lighting Bolt through the whole game (which you should) you will probably earn this without trying. If you need to specifically go for it, then the best way to do it is by equipping Lightning Bolt III, then summoning Eygon before casting, as having Eygon summoned and Lightning as your selected element increases the damage dealt by the attack. Repeat a low-level subquest and use it on a couple of enemies and they should be easily defeated.
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Soul Burst
Landed a Soul Burst Level 3 attack
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Soul Burst is a special attack that is unlocked through upgrading the Attack Skill tree. When holding :tr: you absorb any Souls around you, then when released Valkyrie performs a combo mobe on whatever enemy you are targetted to. For this trophy, you specifically need to hit an enemy with a Level 3 attack, which requires you first unlock the 15th tier node in the Attack skill tree, then absorb 3 Souls during the charge up. Souls are dropped by enemies when defeated or by using the Soul Steal attack, so this is easiest to do by defeating one enemy, then immediately performing it on a second. You’ll know you hit the Level 3 attack because the blue wings will appear on Valkyrie’s back and time will slow down for a short period after the attack finishes.
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Soul Steal
Landed a Soul Steal in midair
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Though the trophy description somewhat implies otherwise, Soul Steal is specifically a midair attack. It is the 10th tier on the Attack Skill Tree and causes enemies to drop Souls when hit by the attack. This is performed by hitting :l2: to Soul Chain to an enemy in midair, then hitting :tr: to perform the Soul Steal attack. Do this one time after unlocking the Skill Tree node to earn the trophy.
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Nibelung Valesti
Landed a Nibelung Valesti I attack
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Nibelung Valesti I is a Divine Art that is obtained automatically once you complete Chapter 8. It functions basically as a super attack, requiring 6 Soul Gauge segments to cast, dealing extreme damage to one enemy. Equip it and hit an enemy with it one time to earn this trophy.
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Vestige of a Soul
Obtained a Hollow Blossom

Obtained every Hollow Blossom
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for obtaining every Hollow Blossom in the game. Hollow Blossoms are blue flowers you can find during the story chapters which provide some extra background about the game world but don’t serve any specific gameplay purpose.

Hollow Blossoms are marked on the map with blue dots, so you can check the map to see where they all are and know how many are left per territory.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Truth of the Gods
Obtained every Verdant Blossom
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for obtaining every Verdant Blossom in the game. Verdant Blossoms are green flowers you can find during the story chapters starting in Chapter 3, and initially you can’t read the information they provide, but they are important and required to be able to complete Ending 4.

Verdant Blossoms are marked on the map with green sparkly dots, so you can check the map to see where they all are and know how many are left per territory. The final one in Chapter 9 gets reset each time you complete that Chapter (so that you can’t be locked out of Ending 1) meaning that to earn this trophy you need to collect all prior Verdant Blossoms, then collect the one in Chapter 9 and complete the chapter.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Rune Novice
Obtained a rune
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for obtaining any one rune.

See :bronze: Rune Master for further information.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Rune Master
Obtained every rune
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Runes are extra items that can be equipped on your weapons, giving extra bonuses on top of the normal weapon stats. About half of them are found in chests during the main story chapters, then the other half are completion rewards from subquests, with the final one being a reward for the final subquest that is available after Chapter 8.

The below list shows the order that the runes are listed in-game in the Items menu, so if you are missing one it is easier to compare against the list. The list includes the chapter the rune is obtained in or what it is a completion reward from.

  • Physical Attack Boost I – Story-related, required to be picked up to progress in Chapter 3
  • Physical Attack Boost II – Chapter 7, in the final large building, drop down the hole on the west side of the second floor to get into the room containing a Hollow Blossom and a chest with this rune.
  • Physical Attack Boost III – Complete “Midgardian Studies (3) subquest (available after Chapter 8)
  • Magic Attack Boost I – Chapter 1, (NOTE: you must have completed Chapter 2 first to be able to summon Eygon), in the final area of the castle (large round room with the two chains) go up the round circular staircase left from where you enter to reach the top floor that looks like a dead end. Summon Eygon to break the electrified wall, defeat all enemies in the room and grab rune from the red chest
  • Magic Attack Boost II – Complete O’ Mine Beloved Land subquest (Chapter 3)
  • Magic Attack Boost III – Complete “Advice for Cypher” subquest (automatically available after Chapter 6)
  • Physical Damage Reduction I – Chapter 3, after defeating the Naglafar Cypher, in the next area go north to where there is a bridge you can drop to reach a destroyed building. After defeating the two Violet Dracos, you can open the chest at the north edge to obtain this rune.
  • Physical Damage Reduction II – Chapter 6, after the 6th save point, before going up the set of switchback stairs in the area with all the crumbled buildings, turn around and go to the top of the thin staircase (southeast corner of this map section) to find a chest
  • Physical Damage Reduction III – Complete Midgardian Studies (1) subquest (Chapter 5)
  • Magic Damage Reduction I – My Hometown subquest (Chapter 2) completion reward
  • Magic Damage Reduction II – Completed The Unfinished Masterpiece (Chapter 4)
  • Magic Damage Reduction III – Complete “Training Duel with Eygon” subquest (automatically available after Chapter 6)
  • Soul Gauge Restoration Boost I – Chapter 5, in the room where you obtain the White Dress after the 4th save point, go out the east side into the hallway, then to the north end to find a chest.
  • Soul Gauge Restoration Boost II – Complete Village Request (2) subquest (Chapter 5)
  • Soul Gauge Restoration Boost III – Complete “A Bout with Kristoffer” subquest (automatically available after Chapter 6)
  • Arts Gauge Restoration Boost I – Chapter 4, after the third save point, you can go into a large room to the north before the pair of circular stairs, defeat all enemies in the room to access the chest with this Rune
  • Arts Gauge Restoration Boost II – Complete Village Request (1) subquest (Chapter 5)
  • Arts Gauge Restoration Boost III – Complete “Combat Training for Taika” subquest (automatically available after Chapter 6)
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Weapons Collector
Obtained every weapon
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
There are 6 weapons to obtain in Valkyrie Elysium (not counting the 2 extra Deluxe Edition weapons). 3 of the weapons are obtained automatically through the story, 1 is obtained from a chest in Chapter 3, then the remaining 2 are subquest rewards. If you are completing all subquests as they unlock, you can earn this when completing Midgardian Studies (2) after Chapter 6.

  • Alfodr – Starting weapon
  • Bolverkr – Story-related, Chapter 1 completion reward
  • Baleygr – Chapter 3, can be picked up from a chest after defeating Naglafar Cypher midway through the chapter
  • Gagnrathr – Complete An Old Man’s Discerning Eye subquest (Chapter 3)
  • Herteitr – Story-related, Chapter 4 completion reward
  • Sidgrani – Complete Midgardian Studies (2) subquest (Orb in the library after Chapter 6 and complete prior subquest)
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Anvil Master
Upgraded every weapon to its full potential
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Upgrading weapons is done with Yellow Souls and all of the different tiers of Gems. Because of how Gems drops work, this is basically just story progression locked, because Gems are only available in specific Chapters/Territories. You do not need to worry about grinding for Gems to upgrade weapons, as you will obtain more than enough while completing the story and all subquests. If you have the Deluxe version of the game you DO NOT need to upgrade Svartaljr and Alscir for this trophy, you can use them if you want, but they aren’t required to be upgraded.

The below list is for reference on what Gem types are used for each upgrade level, along with the Chapters they are available in. Do note that higher level subquests do drop higher level Gems, even though they are in lower regions. You can check what Gems are dropped in the Chapters/Subquests by hitting :r3: in the mission select menu.

  • 1 -> 4 – Emerald Gems – Chapters 1 and 2
  • 4 -> 6 – Azure Gems – Chapters 3 and 4
  • 6 -> 7 – Ruby Gems – Chapter 5
  • 7 -> 9 – Silver Gems – Chapters 6 and 7
  • 9 -> 10 – Black and Rainbow Gems – Chapters 8 and 9

Weapon proficiency is an extra stat on each weapon that increases as you use that weapon more. The stat seemingly doesn’t do anything (there is no tutorial explaining its purpose and it doesn’t increase weapon damage), so it is basically just a measure of how much you have used each weapon. Unfortunately along with the stat seemingly being pointless, this is also the only thing in the game you have to specifically grind for. Proficiency starts at F and goes through 9 levels to reach SSS, requiring a total of 12,500 “points”. Proficiency is earned specifically from hitting enemies with your weapon attack, not just from killing them, so this means that it is detrimental to use Divine Arts or summon your Einherjar when trying to level proficiency.

Like the upgrade trophy, if you have the Deluxe version of the game you DO NOT have to reach SSS proficiency with Svartaljr and Alscir as they do not count, though this means it is actually detrimental to even use them at all.

When specifically grinding for this trophy, you will want to turn off all auto-summon options for your Einherjar (Valkyrie menu > Auto-Summon bottom right, change to “-“). As mentioned before it is detrimental to do anything other than attack with your weapon, as proficiency is only increased from that and not from using Divine Arts or having your Einherjar defeat enemies with you. You can replay basically any missions you want, but two subquests that seem generally very good for grinding this are:

  • An Imprisoned Soul (1)
  • My Hometown

Both these subquests are in the first region (Be’elzean Territory) and have you fight through a number of fairly manageable enemy waves. An Imprisoned Soul is probably better overall, because even though it is a higher-level mission that means you have to hit enemies more, and in the final part you are in an arena for all the enemy waves, requiring less running around. If you don’t feel like playing those or want to do other missions you can, just try to avoid using Divine Arts or summoning your Einherjar to maximize your proficiency gain.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Arts Master
Learned every Divine Art
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is earned by obtaining all Divine Arts in the game. Divine Arts are your elemental magic attacks activated with the :r2: menu. Some Divine Arts are obtained from chests during missions, but the vast majority are obtained from completing Chapters and Subquests.

The below list shows the order that the Divine Arts are listed in-game in the Items and Equip menus, so if you are missing one it is easier to compare against the list. The list includes the chapter the Divine Art is obtained in or what it is a completion reward from.

Note that for some subquests related to speaking with the Einherjar in Valhalla, they might not appear immediately after completing the main story chapters due to story events (such as the characters all talking to each other). Completing another mission and returning to Valhalla should have the characters return to their normal spots and offer subquests if they are available.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Skill Master
Learned all of Valkyrie’s skills
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Like weapons, learning Valkyrie’s skills is done by spending the different tiers of Gems in the skill trees in the Valkyrie section of the pause menu. This means that this is also story progression locked because you can only earn higher level Gems in farther Chapters and subquests. You also DO NOT need to grind for Gems, as you will earn more than enough while completing the Chapters and Subquests to unlock everything.

The only difference to note about skills over weapons is that some of the skills require you to reach F and C proficiency levels on each weapon to be able to learn the skills.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Commanding Master
Learned every Einherjar attack and their normal attacks
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Einherjar attacks and normal attacks (actually called Normal Moves in-game) refer to the selectable attacks you can assign to your Einherjar in the menu. Each one of the characters starts out with 1 of each type, then obtain 1 more per subquest related to that character, for a total of 4 each. You don’t need to actively switch the moves on any of the characters, just complete the subquests, so you will earn this trophy at the same time you earn Fellowship of Souls.
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Elysiumania
Unlocked all terms
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is earned for unlocking all Terms in the Collection menu. Terms are just extra background information you can read about characters or general terms within the game world.

While not strictly story-related, all terms are unlocked through the completion of the story Chapters and Subquests, so you will earn this trophy without trying while completing other trophies. If you have been doing all subquests as they unlock you will earn this trophy when you complete Chapter 9 for the first time, or if you completed Chapter 9 before all subquests then you will likely earn this when completing your final Einherjar-related subquest (also when you earn :silver: Commanding Master and Fellowship of Souls).

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Affinity of a Soul
Unlocked an Einherjar memory
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is awarded when you unlock your first Einherjar memory, which are extra background items in the Collection menu about the different Einherjar. This is story related, as you automatically unlock the first 3 memories for each Einherjar when you obtain them through story progress, so you will earn this trophy when you complete Chapter 2.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Fellowship of Souls
Unlocked all Einherjar memories
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded when you obtain all 6 memories for each of the 4 Einherjar. Each one of the characters starts out with 3 available, then obtain 1 more per subquest related to that character, for a grand total of 24. You do not need to view these if you don’t want, just complete the subquests, so you will earn this trophy at the same time you earn :silver: Commanding Master.
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap Mid-Tier God
Completed the game on Normal difficulty
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for completing the game on Normal difficulty. This is the standard “middle” difficulty for the game and is where it is recommended you start for the first playthrough to complete the majority of the trophies.

Note that you cannot change difficulty once you start the game and there is no NG+, so it is recommended not to play below Normal difficulty because then you need to do an extra playthrough.

Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap High-Tier God
Completed the game on Hard difficulty
Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide & Roadmap
This trophy is awarded for completing the game on Hard difficulty. This is the current highest difficulty for the game, and while not overly hard, it does offer increased difficulty and some changes over Normal difficulty. One of the most obvious changes over Normal is that your CP amount is capped at 430 instead of 500, meaning that if you learned all of Valkyrie’s skills you can’t actually equip them all, but if you are doing this as a second playthrough and rushing through most of it this shouldn’t matter, as you won’t unlock all skills anyway.

Some other major tips for Hard difficulty:

  • Stick with one weapon – Enemy weapon weakness isn’t nearly as important as Elemental weakness, so don’t worry too much about upgrading multiple weapons. Pick whatever weapon you liked the most from the early ones and stick with it.
  • Switch Divine Arts if needed – Getting enemies into Elemental Crush state really means the difference between demolishing enemies or fights taking forever. Don’t be afraid to pause and swap your equipped Divine Arts in the middle of a fight if you run into different enemies with different weaknesses.
  • Complete Ending 3 – Completing Ending 3 (agree with Armand in Chapter 9, ending the game early) does actually count as completing the game. This means that you can do this and skip 90% of Chapter 9 and don’t need to fight any of the bosses.

Show some respect to the person making this guide…

The proficiency grind is pretty big though. I am doing the An imprisoned soul (2) myself. It is less walking between fights, more enemies and gives around 1700 for a single run. Takes between 12-15 minutes.

I only use soul steal and soul burst lvl 3 attacks for they give more proficiency. And is easy to chain them back to back to get the souls.

Is the game really 40 hours minimum? I read it was less than 20 for 100%, and a second playthrough can be done faster without side stuff.

I think most people will take at least 20 first time through to 100% everything in one playthrough unless they’re really rushing, then also have to factor in time to do SSS proficiency on that save if that doesn’t get changed in the future. Once I redo the 100% run on PS4 if that seems like way over I’d drop it to 30 – 50.

Is there a reason that Nibelung Valesti causes no damage at all on Cypher when doing the training battle against him? It worked on Eygon and took off more than half his health. But against Cypher it does nothing.

It might be a bug where it sometimes doesn’t damage the Einherjar. I had the same thing happen in the Odin fight where it didn’t damage Kristoffer that time, but then did when I played the training subquest.

Apparently I counted my list wrong and there is actually 36 total, so you’re missing 2 somewhere. If you check against the lists in each area they’re listed in the same order they appear in-game, so should be able to easily spot which you hadn’t picked up.

That’s the term used in-game for when you stun enemies by attacking them with the correct magic type. I added some more to clarify that a bit.

For the SSS proficiency grind, I found that Ch 9 works pretty good as well. Not sure if it’s faster than the recommended subquest, but for me, it was much less repetitive. Just go around the main area and fight every spawn there is, especially the 2 side/arena-like areas with multiple waves. Then before you go through the narrow area leading to Fenrir/Nibelheim, just to talk to Armand and pick the “run away” ending. I got my Beylfer (sp?, big heavy spear) from A through SSS, and another thousand or so on a second weapon, in just one run. I also removed any +Dmg runes so enemies would take more hits to kill.

Just a friendly suggestion for those like me who go kinda stir-crazy running the same short sidequest repeatedly.

While the game is trash compared to Profiles, I decided to Plat it.
BUT, just completed my second playthrough on Normal (Hard`ed first), all trophies popped up, but… NOT registered on PlayStation 5. Replayed the last chapter – they’re not triggered again. It looks like this plat will be unavailable for me until some patch. Or it’s an issue on Sony’s side. The trophies that popped up (screenshots and videos of ’em are saved in the gallery), but not registered, are the following: Elysimania, Mid-Tier God, and The All-Father’s Right Hand.

Going to try to complete it with another ending tomorrow, maybe it’ll work. But not sure.

Excellent guide, very detailed and well written. I started a chapter and then realized im not properly prepared, how can you exit out of a chapter without completing it? Im stuck on a boss encounter only now i can’t defeat the boss or leave, i don’t have enough hp items and wanted to get more and additional items but not sure how you exit out of a chapter without completing it as i didn’t encounter this issue until late game.

For leave a quest, go to Stone where you save/upgrade and you have ” Return to Valhalla “.

I think you can just go to a save crystal and select the option to return to Valhalla. I’ve read that you lose all progress (items, proficiency, etc) since you started that mission, however.

Anvil Master will not unlock even though I have upgraded every weapon to MAX. I did all the upgrades at the save point in Valhalla and assumed it would pop as soon as I fully upgraded my last weapon, but no such luck.

The subquest “Mother, Where Art Thou? ” seems to be great for grinding SSS proficiency. The waves are long, tough enemies non-stop, and VERY little movement from place to place.

Good you can cheese out the training grounds side missions… If the game forced you to fight like you are suppose to it would be a straight up 10/10 difficulty to S rank these missions (or perhaps even impossible to do)
