The game consists of 6 specified Parts, which is further divided into a total of 17 Sub-Chapters. The game structure is somewhat like Silent Hill 2 Remake with some town areas that can be explored for collectibles, but all areas are generally smaller with less to find, and you cannot return to prior areas as you progress the game. Progress toward all collectibles is tracked between playthroughs so you don’t need to obtain every possible collectibles in a single playthrough for each trophy/achievement, but there is no visible in-game tracking for which you have already obtained previously, aside from Strange Postcards which do not reappear when you start a New Game+ playthrough. Because you can’t backtrack this means all collectibles are technically missable, as you need to reload a previous save or start a new playthrough to return to a specific location.
Clues and Documents are text pickups and these are what count toward the 85 “Discoveries” for the Endings. All other collectibles do not contribute to the “Discoveries” statistic, so you only need to obtain all of them once to earn the associated trophy/achievement and they can be ignored in future playthroughs.
These guides are written from the perspective of playing on Story Mode difficulty. You can play on either Hinted or Normal puzzle difficulty, this doesn’t change the puzzles themselves, but on Hinted the game will highlight certain important text in clues to make solving puzzles easier, but these are all explained directly in each walkthrough page regardless.
