Starfield One Giant Leap Walkthrough

September 2, 2023 by Gage 3 Comments

One Giant Leap is the 19th main mission in Starfield. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the One Giant Leap main quest.

  • Starting Location: Star System: Masada > Planet: Masada III > Landing Site: Buried Temple
  • Quest Giver: Choice dependent
  • Requirement: Complete Revelation
  • Reward: N/A
  • Quest Description: I have all the Artifacts. I need to assemble them into the Armillary onboard my ship.

Objectives:

  1. (Optional) Talk to your friends before you leave
  2. Build the Armillary on your ship
  3. Power up the grav drive to jump to the Unity

(Optional) Talk to your friends before you leave

At the start of the mission, you have the option to speak with any of your Companions about what has occurred. This is entirely optional and you can ignore this if you want and immediately proceed to the ending.

Build the Armillary on your ship

When you’re ready to trigger the ending, go onto your ship and interact with the panel to build the Armillary.

Power up the grav drive to jump to the Unity

With it fully built and activated, take off from the planet and then supply power to the grav drive.

After a short scene, you will be in a void. Walk forward and speak with the character waiting for you. They’ll tell you a bunch of information about what’s happened along with explaining how to trigger the end of the story. Around the outside of the area a bunch of scenes will appear that give information on what’s happening to all the characters you’ve met through your playthrough if you’re entering Unity right now.

If you don’t want to trigger the ending now, walk away from the center and you’ll be returned to your ship.

If you want to trigger the ending, walk forward into the center and you will be started over in NG+. Note that in NG+ you lose your entire inventory, you only keep your level and perks. You do receive a unique ship and armor set when you start out, with the game skipping past the initial story mission and starting when you are traveling to the Lodge for the first time.

This finishes One Giant Leap in Starfield and also completes the story.

I noticed a bug with this on Series X, not sure if anyone else had this problem. But the optional quest of talking to your friends won’t ‘complete’ for me despite doing just that. No biggie as it’s optional but it kinda bugged me as I like to complete all parts of a mission, including optional parts.

I actually just found a fix for this after watching various videos of this mission to replicate what people have done where it is completed. If you build the armillary on your ship then remove it (so you can travel back to your friends), for some reason this allows you to complete the optional quest. If you don’t build the armillary first, I found it doesn’t allow you to complete the mission to speak to your friends. Hope this helps people out there having the same issue! I guess it’ll be patched at some point, I’ve flagged it with Bethesda via a support ticket.

When you become starborn , you not keep any of your credits, equipment and will end up repeating some of the storyline as a starborn. if you like what you have and want to explore a bit, it may be worth delaying the starborn bit and doing the other stuff. this is a fine balance tho , because when ( or if ) you go to be Starborn, it will become more of a downgrade from your higher level gear. Not all playthroughs will be identical tho , good luck out there!
