Here is the full Days Gone Story Length Revealed:
It took me 70 hours to finish the story, playing on easy difficulty with very thorough exploration (doing side tasks, collectibles and other activities along the way) and skipping the majority of cutscenes. This is basically the time to platinum as I did all tasks for it during the story. I ended up with 42 of 45 skill points after the story and had to farm the rest from Hordes which only took about an hour with endgame gear.
If you rush it on easy, ignore side tasks, and skip all cutscenes it can be done in about 60 hours. Playing on Normal – Hard while watching all Cutscenes and exploring thoroughly takes about 80 hours. This makes it one of the longest stories in recent memory.
There’s a crazy amount of main missions and the game consists of 6 regions in total (with 5 encampments). The map keeps expanding to the south. Even though there’s a point of no return at the end of the third region “Lost Lake” this is only temporary and the map opens back up after the story is over. Then you can go back to finish any camp jobs, side tasks and collectibles you’re still missing. So to give you an idea: when you reach the Point of No Return you’re just a little over halfway through the story.
It’s worth noting that after the story all Hordes get marked on the map and they act as the endgame. So there’s still something left to do after the story.
