What is the Shiny Charm?
The Shiny Charm in the Pokemon games serves to increase the odds of encountering or hatching a Shiny Pokemon. The Shiny Charm adds “rerolls” to your encounter for each encounter making the odds go up.
How do I use the Shiny Charm?
The Shiny Charm doesn’t get “used”. Once you obtain the Shiny Charm the effects take place while this Key Item is in your bag. Simply possessing it will give you the increased chance at finding a Shiny Pokemon.
Does the Shiny Charm stack with other methods?
Yes, the Shiny Charm effects will stack with any other method you use to hunt for Shiny Pokemon. The Charm will add 2 rerolls to any method used.
What are the Shiny odds with the Charm?
The Shiny Charm will add 2 rerolls to any encounter or hatch. Without combining any other forms of Shiny hunting to the Shiny Charm it raises the chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon from 1 in 4096 (0.024%) to 1 in 1,365.3 (0.073%).
How do I obtain the Shiny Charm?
In order to receive the Shiny Charm you will need to first complete the Pokedex. To complete the Pokedex you will need to have caught all 400 Pokemon (see All Pokemon Locations). Once your Pokedex is complete you will need to head to the Gamefreak Building in Circhester (next building to the right of Pokemon Center). Head into the Gamefreak building and look for the Director. The Director will request to see your Pokedex and once you have it completed he will give you a certificate of completion as well as this charm.
