Youth Under Fire is a side tale in Ghost of Yotei. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Youth Under Fire side quest.
- Chapter: Chapter 2 – The Onyro
- Region: Oshima Coast > Tokuyama Hills
- Quest Giver: Taro
- Requirement: available upon entering Oshima Coast for the first time during Main Tale: The Saito Brothers. Possibly must have met Taro once before, he can spawn at your own camps or throughout the open world at random campsites.
- Quest Info: I found Taro near Tokuyama Hills with a group of refugees. He wants to lead them to the safety, but he’s just a kid. I can’t let him do this on his own.

Starting Location: Youth Under Fire
This quest starts by talking to Taro (young boy) at Oshima Coast > Tokuyama Hills. He stands at the side of the road where the “I” of “HILLS” is on the map. Set a waypoint there and you should hear him speak when you get close. When you see broken cart with wooden boxes at the side of the road, he will be just a few steps down the road.
This is a quick escort quest where you walk with Taro and have to fend off some samurai along the way.
Follow Taro
Taro will run a few meters north into the woods. Follow him, he will stop at a group of refugees.
Talk to him again. He reveals that he wants to help the refugees “for a fee”. Say “Let’s Head Out” to proceed with the quest.
Taro will lead the group. Stay close to him and the refugees. You can engage in some dialogue along the way, but it’s of no consequence. After about 2 minutes you get ambushed by soliders on the cliffs.
Defeat the Dragon’s Soldiers / Return to the Refugees
Defeat all enemies, there should be 5 of them. Afterward go back to Taro who hides behind the rocks on the side of the road, he will be marked on the map with his character icon.
Follow Taro
Keep following Taro up the road. After half a minute you get a short cutscene where Taro leaves the group to distract some enemies on the road. Go after him, the enemies will automatically attack you.
Kill them and talk to Taro again, he will be just a few meters down the road of where you fight the enemies (marked on map).
Afterward keep walking just a little further with the group, once you reach the outskirts of Matsumae Castle, a group of friendly soldiers will greet you to take in the refugees. The quest ends here.
This finishes Youth Under Fire in Ghost of Yotei.
