Budding Analyst
Additionally, there are also “
Large Resource Crates” that contain Health Upgrades and Power Upgrades, but you only need any 12 of each and there are many more than needed (you also get 6 of each from the Secret Hideouts and Testing Facilities, so only need to find 6 more which you should automatically run into during the story).
Nothing is missable, you can find everything after the story in free-roam. It’s actually best to look for the collectibles after the story when you have access to all traversal abilities. During the first visit, you will be missing the required abilities to reach collectibles. The abilities you need are all unlocked from the “Search for Jesse” Main Quests, and from defeating the Resonant in each Zone (Main Bosses).
In particular, the following quests grant the abilities that you need for collectibles: Jesse Sightings: The Incursion Fault (Shift ability to walk up walls) > Jesse Sightings: The Subway Fault (Reach ability to use grappling points) > The West Incursion Zone Resonant (Ground Slam to break Ability Barriers) > The Central Zone Resonant (Ignite/Inferno to burn webs). To fully explore the final region, called “The Unknown”, you will also need to do Side Quest: Pope’s Research.
You can only fast travel by interacting with “Fast Travel Doors”, this doesn’t work from anywhere and you have to walk to a fast travel door yourself each time. Because of this, it’s most efficient to collect everything region by region instead of by type, to reduce the amount of running back and forth. Each collectible type is also tied to a side quest, except Secret Hideouts which don’t have a quest.
By Region
Collecting everything by region is the most time efficient method to reduce the amount of backtracking.
