In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, players will sometimes get the warning “currently unable to use tempering“. This can seem like a bug but it’s actually a game feature, just happens to be one the game never explains.
Normally, tempering is used to apply bone needles (status effects) to your weapon: Fire, Lightning, Frostbite, Corruption, Blight, Poise Break, Leech, Feathering, Arcane, Magic.
The problem that’s causing ‘unable to use tempering’ is that some weapons are incompatible with certain bone needles.
The solution is to equip a compatible bone needle via the Temper menu at a shrine. You unlock new needles from the left skill tree and from the 6 Inner Demons.
In the top right corner of the Temper menu below the weapon icon it will either say “Unable to Temper as your current weapon and bone needle are mutually exclusive” or “Temper available as your currently weapon and bone needle match perfectly“.
