Wuchang: Fallen Feathers All Endings Guide

This guide explains how to get all endings in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. There are 4 endings: Successor of the Bo, Jarful of Medicine, Dream’s Sweet Deceit, Bound by Fate’s Threads. Normally, you can only get 1 ending per playthrough as the game only has 1 Autosaves and it automatically puts you into New Game+ after triggering an ending, with no option to free-roam or trigger other endings. However, with some smartly placed backup saves you can get all endings in one playthrough, and in fact even get all trophies/achievements and collectibles in the same playthrough.

Everything is highly missable. NPC interactions and bosses must be done in a specific order or the questlines will fail. Wrong dialogue choices will lock you out of endings and collectibles. There’s a major point of no return: interacting with the Storyteller in Region 3 – Mt. Zhenwu > Zhenwu Altar will lock out the 1st region. Ending choices cancel out each other (but can back up save to later pick the opposite).

The important questlines needed for endings are: Red-Clad Lady, He Youzai, White-Robed Elder, Fang Yao. Must do all their interactions at the earliest opportunity and exhaust their dialogues. Their character icons appear in the fast travel menu at shrines when interactions are available. If you miss one interaction it can break their questline. Other NPC questlines aren’t directly tied to endings but are still important for their rewards, so ideally complete all of them.

Endings are listed in recommended order from Early Secret Ending > Bad Ending > True Ending > Good Ending (not the trophy list order).

Ending 1: Successor of the Bo (Early Secret Ending)

Successor of the Bo ending is unlocked by refusing to help the Storyteller at the start of the 4th region, then beat Bo Magus boss to end the game early. As a prerequisite you must interact with Red-Clad Lady at every opportunity, and at Avian Dwelling tell her “I agree”.

Step 1 (Region 1: Worship’s Rise): Complete all interactions with Red-Clad Lady NPC. She has two interactions in the 1st main region.

• Region 1: Worship’s Rise – Reverent Temple: after the Bai Kru tutorial boss, follow the story path uphill until you reach a wooden scaffold you must walk up. She will sit on the left side by the river before the scaffold, exhaust her dialogues.
• Region 1: Worship’s Rise – Doomwillow Beach: from Doomwillow Beach shrine turn around, then take the path that’s in front of you and slightly to the left. Follow that path, it leads to a big blood puddle. Go left and follow the path all the way past a tree that attacks you until you can climb a ladder. This leads to a pillar you can knock down to create a shortcut. Go over it to reach the Red-Clad Lady, exhaust her dialogues.

Step 2 (Region 3: Mt. Zhenwu – Avian Dwelling): Talk to Red-Clad Lady next to Avian Dwelling Shrine. Must pick dialogue “I agree“. This is required to get the “Refuse to help” dialogue later with Storyteller in 4th region.

Step 3 (Region 4: Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Annalum): As soon as you reach the 4th region you will find the Storyteller in front of Annalum shrine. Must refuse to help him by picking these dialogues: “What kind of favor?” > “I do not…” > “The Bo People…” > “REFUSE TO HELP” > “REFUSE“. This will lock you into the Successor of the Bo Ending.

Step 4 (Region 4: Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Palace Entrance): Defeat Bo Magus boss to trigger Successor of the Bo Ending. The game will end immediately without ever going into the 5th region. To reach Bo Magus you must take the path from Shu Sanctum that leads through the palace area, not the path that leads to Reverent Temple.

Ending 2: Jarful of Medicine (Bad Ending)

Jarful of Medicine ending is unlocked by giving Xuanyangzi the chisel at end of the 4th region, then beat the endboss.

Step 1 (Region 4: Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Reverent Temple): Leave Reverent Temple via the top floor to return to the cave where the game started. On the path before Burning Cavern shrine you find Xuanyangzi, the old man you talked to multiple times in the story at Reverent Temple. He offers two choices, you must give him the chisel by saying “Hand over the Jade Feather Chisel“. This locks you into the bad ending.

Step 2 (Region 5: Bo Capital): Defeat the endboss “Feathery Ambition – Xuanyangzi” and interact with the ending gate. It will say “Enter the Stream of Samsara”.

Ending 3: Dream’s Sweet Deceit (Best True Ending)

Dream’s Sweet Deceit ending is unlocked by completing the questlines of Fang Yao + He Youzai + White-Robed Elder. At the end of the 4th region, Fang Yao and He Youzai will give you two halves of the Ring of Samsara. After reaching the 5th region you must defeat White-Robed Elder at Mt. Zhenwu’s Avian Dwelling. Then proceed to the final riddle gate in Bo Capital and give the wrong answer “The wheel turns anew” to be teleported to a secret area. There you craft the “Ring of Samsara – Rebirth”. Beat the endboss and step through the ending gate with the ring in your inventory. This is the full ending and the most complex one to achieve.

Step 1 (Whole Story – NPC Questlines: Fang Yao + He Youzai + White-Robed Elder): Complete all interactions and exhaust all dialogues with Fang Yao + He Youzai + White-Robed Elder to finish their questlines. Always interact at the earliest opportunity as soon as reaching their areas, without missing any interaction. Always check shrines for character icons, their icon will appear in the fast travel screen when they can be interacted with. If you advance the story they will disappear and their questlines break. Always check for character icons when reaching a new shrine and before/after each boss. Play through Region 2: Cloudspire before going into Region 3: Mt. Zhenwu (if doing regions out of order, the questlines will break). Below are all interactions chronologically.

• Worship’s Rise – Reverent Temple (He Youzai): After the Bai Kru tutorial boss, you will find him along the river path on the left side. He’s a guy wearing a robe.
• Worship’s Rise – Buddha Cliffs (Lost Package item for He Youzai): After Tang Palace Maid boss, take the exit at the top of the boss room. Then directly straight in front of you in the grass is a purple item, pick it up. Can still grab it later, can check your inventory under valuables if you already picked it up.
• Worship’s Rise – Shu Sanctum (White-Robed Elder): From the shrine go up the stairs to the floor above, then check the left balcony to find him sitting there. Guy in white robe.
• Worship’s Rise – Doomwillow Beach (He Youzai): After the boss Great Centipede, you climb up a tower, then follow the path uphill and you’ll find him on the main path, just before the next shrine.
• Worship’s Rise – Doomwillow Beach (White-Robed Elder): From the shrine turn around and take the path leading uphill slightly to your right. Take the next left to find this NPC.
• Worship’s Rise – Palace Hill / Reverent Temple (He Youzai): After beating Commander – Honglan boss, you are teleported back to Reverent Temple. Talk to him there on the ground floor.
• Cloudspire – Hillswatch (Shu Silk Scarf item for Fang Yao): From the shrine go up the path, enter the village on the left. Take the first path on the left and go downhill to find a ladder shortcut leading back to the shrine. At the ladder is a blue interact point, use the Examine gesture to get this item.
• Cloudspire – Snowpeak Pass (He Youzai): After the Ming General boss, go through the house on the left and then upstairs. In the next tower you will find him.
• Cloudspire – Snowpeak Pass (Fang Yao): Directly after He Youzai, behind the door where the red bag enemy stands. Give her the Shu Silk Scarf (was obtained in Cloudspire – Hillswatch, by using the “Examine” emote in front of the blue glowing interact point, in the village where the ladder shortcut is).
• Cloudspire – Cloudspire Outskirts (White-Robed Elder): From Cloudspire Outskirts shrine, turn around and enter the tall building on the right. Behind this building (outside) climb the ladders to the second level where the White Robed Elder is standing. You can’t miss him while climbing to the rooftop.
• Cloudspire – Shaft Entrance (Fang Yao): Sits to the right of the shrine. Can agree to help or refuse to help. Choose “agree to help” to advance her questline.
• Cloudspire – Shaft Entrance (Mad Doctor’s Research Notes item for He Youzai): While progressing through the shaft area on the normal path you will come to a room with what looks like an altar in the center. Under the balcony you enter the room from you can find the Mad Doctor’s Research Note sitting on a table, it’s a purple item.
• Cloudspire – Shaft Entrance (He Youzai): In the outdoor section immediately before the next Shrine. Can show Mad Doctor’s Research Notes, Research Journal – Scrap 1. (automatically dropped by Huang Yan boss).
• Cloudspire – Wedding Hall (Fang Yao): After beating Fang Ling boss, rest at the shrine to make her appear. She will then sit to the left of the shrine on the floor.
• Cloudspire – Wedding Hall (White-Robed Elder): Go through the tunnel where the Storyteller teleports you to. After a big summoner enemy, take the right path that leads uphill to find him.
• Mt. Zhenwu – Battlefield Pass (He Youzai): Just before the ladder down to the Refugee Camp, he’s on the left at a campfire. Can ask him “What’s wrong?”. He points you to Zhenwu Temple.
• Mt. Zhenwu – Battlefield Pass (Fang Yao): She will sit next to He Youzai at the same campfire, if you did her prior interactions.
• Mt. Zhenwu – Battlefield Pass (White-Robed Elder): At the start of Refugee Camp in front of a bridge where a ladder leads down. Can choose to agree or refuse his quest. It’s important you choose AGREE. Then he can be called with the Bone Whistle during the Bo Sorcerer boss fight to assist you. If you refuse to help him it will break his questline.
• Mt. Zhenwu – Avian Marsh (White-Robed Elder): From the previous spot go down the ladder and through Avian Marsh until you go through a room with a summoner casting Despair (instakill) debuff at you. After leaving the Despair area and going back outside he stands at the little bridge on the main path, can’t miss him.
• Mt. Zhenwu – Avian Marsh (White-Robed Elder): During Bo Sorcerer boss fight use Bone Whistle to call White-Robed Elder for help.
• Mt. Zhenwu – Avian Dwelling (White-Robed Elder): To the left of Avian Dwelling go over the tree shortcut (can kick it down from the other side), go straight forward past the two scared humans, over the bridge where a Bamboozling was. It leads to the Tomb area with a white flower field. Talk to White-Robed Elder there.
• DON’T TALK TO STORYTELLER AFTER FIERCE TIGER BOSS, GO THROUGH CAVE BEHIND HIM TO FINISH MT. ZHENWU REGION
• Mt. Zhenwu – Bai Mansion (He Youzai): Sits directly left of the shrine. Afterward defeat the Monstrous Toddler – Bai Kru boss on the path behind him. Call He Youzai to this fight using the Bone Whistle.
• Mt. Zhenwu – Rivulet (He Youzai): Go back to Bai Mansion and speak with him again to give him Research Journal – Scrap 2 (dropped by Mounstrous Toddler – Bai Kru boss).
• Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Annalum (Fang Yao): Standing outside the building where you first enter the area after the Storyteller teleports you there, to your left. Next to He Youzai.
• Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Annalum (He Youzai): Standing next to Fang Yao (dash through the box behind Fang Yao). Can tell him “It’s okay…”

Step 2 (Region 4: Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Reverent Temple): If you did all interactions with Fang Yao + He Youzai, they will spawn at Reverent Temple. They give you the two halves of the ring as reward for their questlines. Talk to Fang Yao behind the shrine on the wooden bridge, she gives Research Journal – Scrap 3 + Ring of Samsara – Cause. Then find He Youzai upstairs, talk to him twice: “You seem to have forgotten something” > “Not really” > show “Research Journal – Scrap 3” > “What’s wrong?” to receive Ring of Samsara – Effect. DO NOT CONSUME THE RINGS FROM YOUR INVENTORY!

Step 3 (Region 4: Worship’s Rise in Ruins – Reverent Temple): Leave Reverent Temple via the top floor to return to the cave where the game started. On the path before Burning Cavern shrine you find Xuanyangzi, the old man you talked to multiple times in the story at Reverent Temple. He offers two choices, you must NOT give him the chisel by picking “Remain Silent“. This locks you into the path towards the True Ending and Good Ending.

Step 4 (Region 5: Bo Capital): After reaching the 5th region, return to White-Robed Elder at the Tomb in Avian Dwelling. He will turn into the boss “Eternal Glory – Zhao Yun”, defeat him. He only becomes a boss if you did his questline. Must do this before interacting with the red riddle gate in Bo Capital!

Step 5 (Region 5: Bo Capital – Depths of the Capital): To the left of this shrine, interact with the red riddle gate. Must give WRONG answer “The wheel turns anew” to be teleported to the secret area Shrine Dwelling.

Step 6 (Region 5: Bo Capital – Shrine Dwelling): In the secret area behind the riddle gate, defeat the boss Demon of Obsession. At the end of the area interact with the altar and pick “Reform causality” to fuse the 2 halves of the ring to the finished ring “Ring of Samsara – Rebirth“.

Step 7 (Region 5: Bo Capital): Defeat the endboss “Feathery Ambition – Xuanyangzi” and interact with the ending gate. It will say “Enter the Realm of Dreams”.

Ending 4: Bound by Fate’s Threads (Good Ending)

Bound by Fate’s Threads ending is unlocked by following all the steps for Dream’s Sweet Deceit Ending, but after defeating endboss “Feathery Ambition – Xuanyangzi” CONSUME “Ring of Samsara – Rebirth” from your inventory to get rid of it.

Step 1: Follow all the steps of Ending 3: Dream’s Sweet Deceit up until the start of Step 7 in exactly the same way.

Step 2 (Region 5: Bo Capital): Defeat the endboss “Feathery Ambition – Xuanyangzi“. Then open your inventory and consume the “Ring of Samsara – Rebirth” so it’s gone and no longer in your possession. Interact with the ending gate. It will say “Enter the Realm of Truth”.

How To Combine All Endings in One Playthrough

With just 4 smartly placed backup saves it’s possible to do all 4 endings in a single playthrough and also get all collectibles for trophies/achievements. If you have never used save backups before you should practice it on another game first to not risk losing your entire progress, so proceed with caution.

To get the Platinum / 1000 Gamerscore in one playthrough, follow our Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Collectible Guide by Area, it contains all required NPC interactions, all collectibles, and when to backup/restore saves. It’ll be the most straightforward way to get everything in one run without having to remember the ending requirements.

How to back up saves:

• PS5 players will need a PS+ subscription to back up saves to the Cloud. Then go to PS5 Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Upload or Delete from Console Storage > Upload to Cloud Storage > Overwrite > in previous menu click Sync Saved Data = DISABLED so it doesn’t automatically overwrite your cloud save
• PC players can find the local save under C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Wuchang\Saved

Playthrough-spanning Prerequisites:

• Do all NPC interactions with Red-Clad Lady (Successor of the Bo Ending) + White-Robed Elder & Fang Yao & He Youzai (Dream’s Sweet Deceit Ending). Must interact with them chronologically at every opportunity throughout the story to complete their questlines.
• In 3rd region Mt. Zhenwu – Refugee Camp: talk to White-Robed Elder and pick dialogue “Agree”, then go through Avian Marsh and defeat Bo Sorcerer boss together with White-Robed Elder (can call him with Bone Whistle). This will let you fight him as a boss after reaching the 5th region.
• In 3rd region Mt. Zhenwu – Avian Dwelling: talk to Red-Clad Lady and pick dialogue “I agree”. This is required to get the “Refuse to help” dialogue with Storyteller in 4th region.

After reaching the 4th Region Worship’s Rise in Ruins:

SUCCESSOR OF THE BO ENDING (EARLY SECRET ENDING)

• Don’t talk to Storyteller in Annalum
  
• Play until you defeated the boss “Vermilion Feathers – Honglan”, just before reaching Bo Magus boss.
• BACKUP 1: MAKE BACKUP BEFORE FIGHTING BO MAGUS AND TALKING TO STORYTELLER IN ANNALUM
• Return to Storyteller, pick “Refuse to help”
• Beat Bo Magus = SUCCESSOR OF THE BO ENDING
• REVERT TO BACKUP 1 BEFORE STORYTELLER
• This time “Agree to help” Storyteller. Beat Bo Magus again for her shrine and Tao Qing item, needed for other trophies.

JARFUL OF MEDICINE (BAD ENDING)

• BACKUP 2: MAKE BACKUP WHEN REACHING REVERENT TEMPLE
• Talk to Xuanyangzi (old man) at Burning Cavern shrine, say “Hand over the Jade Feather Chisel” so you DO give him the chisel (locks you into bad ending)
• Finish Endboss (no need to craft rings, can head straight to boss) = always gives JARFUL OF MEDICINE ENDING if you gave away the chisel
• REVERT TO BACKUP 2 AT REVERENT TEMPLE

DREAM’S SWEET DECEIT (TRUE ENDING)

• Get 2 Rings of Samsara from Fang Yao & He Youzai at Reverent Temple (must’ve done all their NPC interactions for them to appear)
• At start of 5th region kill White-Robed Elder at the Tomb at Mt. Zhenwu – Avian Dwelling
• Advance to Bo Capital – Depths of the Capital shrine but don’t interact with red riddle door yet!
• BACKUP 3: MAKE BACKUP BEFORE RED RIDDLE DOOR
• Optional: give correct answer “The grand dream fades” for Trophy: Sage (answered all 3 riddle doors correctly)
• REVERT TO BACKUP 3 BEFORE RIDDLE DOOR
• Give  wrong answer “The wheel turns anew” -> teleports you to Shrine Dwelling -> beat Demon of Obsession boss -> craft “Ring of Samsara – Rebirth” at altar in Shrine Dwelling
• Beat Endboss: Feathery Ambition – Xuanyangzi
• BACKUP 4: BACK UP SAVE AFTER ENDBOSS, BEFORE ENDING GATE
• Go through gate = DREAM’S SWEET DECEIT ENDING

BOUND BY FATE’S THREADS (GOOD ENDING)

• REVERT TO BACKUP 4 AFTER ENDBOSS
• Consume Ring from inventory > go through ending gate again = BOUND BY FATE’S THREADS ENDING

If something goes wrong, don’t worry too much. You can speedrun New Game+ within 4-5 hours.
