Dead Island 2 is the successor to Dead Island 1 & Dead Island Riptide, finally released in April 2023 after being in development for over 10 years. While it makes use of the previous games’ core combat mechanics, the structure of it is much different. The game is divided into 10 smaller areas, some of which are fairly linear and others are more open. There are 24 Main Quests, 33 Side Quests, 15 Lost & Found treasure hunts. So in total the game has 72 quests. A story-focused playthrough will take around 10 hours. It takes another 15 hours (with guides) to finish all side content. So around 25 hours total for everything if you play efficiently. The best approach is to focus on the story first because many side quests won’t be available until after the story. There are no difficulty settings, it’s the same difficulty for all players but you can make it easier by staying within a quest’s suggested level range. Which character you pick at the beginning doesn’t matter. Nothing is missable since there’s fast travel after the story and you can go back to all regions.

Can you elaborate on this? I’m finding some of the boss fights impossible, no matter how powerful my weapons are…
