The Hoarfrost Reach region of Monster Hunter World Iceborne has a secret area 17 that is very hidden and easy to miss. It is located in the bottom left corner of the Hoarfrost Reach world map, on floor 2 (the upper map floor). This guide explains how to reach the secret area 17.
First, here’s a screenshot of where it is on the map:

Step 1: Go to area 2. There look for 2 wingdrakes flying around, but don’t kill them.
Step 2: Attack (don’t kill) the two wingdrakes in Area 2. If you’re a melee fighter, the easiest way is to use the clutch claw

. This will attract them so they come flying closer to the floor. You must hit / to hold on to a wingdrake when it shows the button prompt to do so. Then the wingdrake automatically flies you to the destination.
Step 3: Enjoy the nice view. Once on top you can get back down by following the path on the left back to the Southern Camp.
Even though no monsters ever go to area 17, you can find some endemic life here (a cave with flying jellyfish) and you’ll have to go there during a questline that unlocks the Tailraider Signal skill.
