Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Resynced has 11 Character Portrait Locations. Finding all Character Portraits and hanging them in Great Inagua manor unlocks The Memory of My Enemy trophy & achievement.
All portraits require story progress, and 3 require specific side quests. After the story you can get all of them. Don’t bother with them during the story because some just won’t be there. Unlike other collectibles they don’t get marked automatically from syncing viewpoints. The only appear on the map when going very close to them.
The 3 required side quests are: Blackbeard’s Treasure, Captain Stede Bonnet, A World Without Gold. All other paintings are found in the open world after the story. You can check which ones you’ve found in Codex menu > Database > Portraits. This guide lists them in order of proximity to reduce backtracking, with their codex number in brackets so you can quickly identify specific ones you need.

#3 – El Tiburon’s Portrait (Codex #10)
Dry Tortuga > Havana – inside the Castle in the north of Havana, use the scaffold in the corner outside the castle to climb through the open window (204, 608). The in-game codex description falsely claims it’s in Castillo but it’s actually in Havana.

Advance until you reach a room with multiple pirates. In the room with the pirates are some small explosive barrels you can carry, place one in front of the destructible wall on the east side of the room, shoot the barrel to blow up the wall.
Take the path behind the wall until you reach another room with pirate enemies. There you find more small explosive barrels, again place on at the destructible wall up the slope behind the waterfall. Blackbeard’s Treasure is behind that wall.
Afterward, fast travel back to Great Inagua where the updated quest marker appears and interact with the chest. After the cutscene you get the portrait.
