There are 5 Legendary Ships in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Resynced (2026 Remake). Defeating all Legendary Ships unlocks the Devil Of The Caribbean trophy & achievement. They are in each map corner, with the one in the north-east containing two ships in one fight. They are the hardest battles in the game. Their locations are the same as in the original game version.
Before you attempt these, you should fully upgrade your ship (see Ultimate Upgrade Plan Locations) and recruit all Officers (see Officer Locations). The Officers make a huge difference, especially Tobias Smith who lets you fire an extra salvo of cannonballs. The Padre lets you ram-dash with L1+R1 / LB+RB for massive damage, and Lucy Baldwin lets you perfect brace to negate incoming damage.
Winning the Legendary Ship battles is mainly a matter of brute force. With a fully upgraded ship and all officers recruited, you can set the game on very easy difficulty and it won’t be so bad. The general tactic is to drive toward the ships, fire your front cannons, ram them, then use Broadside Cannons with Heated Shot, rinse and repeat. Stay braced while your weapons are reloading, it voids most of the incoming damage. When you see red weakspots, attack them with the Swivel Gun (R1/RB). When you see the enemy cannons starting to glow orange, they are about to shoot and you should brace. Use your Mortar (L1/LB) whenever the ships are slowing down or making sharp turns, it deals a lot of damage when hitting them cleanly. The most important thing is to brace to withstand more damage than the enemy can take.
Each ship rewards you with money and legendary cosmetics that can be equipped to your own ship.
Collectibles Overview:
Legendary Ship 1: El Impoluto
- Location Coordinates: 117, 841
- Strengths: Ram, Burning Shot Broadside Cannons (Hit and Run Tactics)
This ship likes to ram you head-on, then it sails in a half circle just outside your cannon range. It repeats this maneuver over and over again. If you have fully upgraded your ship, you can beat it by copying its moves. When it rams you, you ram it. Use burning shot before getting out of range, mortar when out of range, ram again and repeat the cycle. You just have to do perfect braces to negate most of the damage.
Legendary Ship 2: La Dama Negra
- Location Coordinates: 240, 72
- Strengths: Mortars (Long Range Tactics)
This ship relies a lot on Mortar Barrages, but it will often stay still while it fires them which leaves it vulnerable. The key to victory is to stay close and use Heated Shot Broadside Cannons while bracing. This ship has weaker Broadside Cannons and doesn’t fire as many cannon balls as the El Impoluto. The Mortars can still hit you at close range but you can negate most damage by bracing immediately after you shoot your Broadside Cannons. Sometimes this ship tries to get away from you to shoot its mortars from a distance, when it prepares a mortar it often stops moving which is a perfect opportunity to fire your own mortar, dealing heavy damage. This is generally the easiest of the Legendary Ships, just stay close and stay braced while your cannons recharge.
Legendary Ship 3: HMS Prince
- Location Coordinates: 854, 55
- Strengths: Mortars and disappearing into the fog (Trickster Tactics)
HMS Prince is like a mix of El Impoluto and La Dama Negra. During the 3 main phases (each represented by one health segment) it likes to stay at close to medium range and shoots a mix of Broadside Cannons and Mortars. Here you can deal good damage with Heated Shot and stay braced while it recharges. After each health segment, HMS Prince will sail off at high speed into the shadows and bombards you with mortars for one or two minutes before reappearing. The icon on the ship will disappear and you can’t catch up to it, these phases are all about survival and minimizing damage. Try to avoid the mortars by driving in big circles, brace when you can’t avoid them. With perfect brace the damage is negligible. When the HMS Prince reappears from the fog, ram it head-on with Ram-Dash (L1+R1 / LB+RB if you recruited The Padre), then stay within the range to land your Burning Shot.
Legendary Ship 4+5: HMS Fearless & Royal Sovereign
- Location Coordinates: 811, 858
- Strengths: Two Man-o-Wars attacking at same time (Tag Team Tactics)
HMS Fearless & Royal Sovereign are a pair of Man-o-Wars, one has black sails and one has white sails. Importantly, you CAN’T board either of them after depleting their health, meaning there’s no way to repair your own ship in the middle of the fight. While both ships are live their movements are choreographed to always move alongside each other before taking a sharp turn to face you head-on. Use your mortar when the ships make a turn to face you. Then Ram-Dash one of them, brace to negate their cannons, then fire Burning Shot at their back while they sail away and use Swivel Gun to hit the red weakspots. Rinse and repeat until one ship is defeated. Don’t bother chasing after them, they will just throw barrels at you. It’s easier to let them get away and shoot the mortar while they turn. When one ship is defeated, the other will become more aggressive. Luckily, each ship has less health than the other 3 single ships. They only have about half as much health as the other legendaries, but it’s still the hardest fight overall because you’re dealing with two ships simultaneously and get shot at from both sides. Always brace while your weapons are recharging.
That’s all of the Legendary Ships in AC IV Black Flag (2026 Remake). For all other collectible types refer to the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced Collectible Guide.
