Investigate Sumaq’s Murder is a Side Mission in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This walkthrough shows how to complete this Quest.

Quest Location – Investigate Sumaq’s Murder
You can find this quest in the upper part of Paititi. To start the quest, however, you have to wear the Serpent Guard Outfit.
Objective: Solve Sumaq’s murder
You will find out about Sumaq being murdered and Toruca being the main suspect in this case. Toruca informs you about his innocence and detective Lara Croft takes the case.
Talk to the widow, the suspect, the two guards, investigate the body and the bloody drag marks on the floor. You should also talk to the female housemaid behind the wooden bars, which will appear suspicious to Lara. Unfortunately, this so far does not provide enough clues to solve the murder. You must get inside the housemaid’s room by climbing into the back of the house.
Make your way around the house in order to confront her directly. To do this, exit the house, climb up the wall to the left of the entrance (where another woman stands up top) and jump over the wooden beams to a climbable wall. Then you arrive in the maids room. Talk to her and she will reveal the info that solves the case.
Also be sure to check the outside garden behind the house in order to find the murder weapon – a bloody knife. This Ancient Knife is also an unmarked collectible for your relic collection and the Doctor Croft trophy.
Objective: Return to Toruca’s Guard / Free Toruca
With the info the housemaid gave you, you now know the widow was not at the market when the murder happened. Rather, she was at home committing the murder. Return to the guard to inform him of your finding. This will conclude the Sumaq’s Murder side mission.

Did not get the rewards for this side quest, the Antique Knife Artifact neither Yaway’s Battle Tunic, the upper body does not appear on my outfits, not even to craft it. And already dogged the knife while in the quest, so theres just a hole there now.

The knife is an artifact, not a weapon.
About the missing upper body armor, no idea, must be a bug.

Got the 100% completion trophy. But had never picked up the knife. Just went back and picked it up and it’s still not in my list of artifacts. So the Dr Croft trophy wont activate. It’s frustrating!

I did exactly this, but was confused, as I thought the guard said he was stabbed with something very sharp, while the knife we find specifically says it looks like it hasn’t been sharpened in years. Maybe Lara got it wrong!
