Rescue Hakan is a Side Mission in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This walkthrough shows how to complete this Quest.
Region: Paititi
Quest Giver: Etzli
Requirement: Unlocked automatically during the main story
Reward: I Believe Hakan Fly 
trophy & Finely-crafted knife, which is one of the upgrades required for That’s a knife! trophy
Quest Location – Rescue Hakan
This side mission will be received automatically during your playthrough. Once on your way to rescue the queen, Etzli will ask you to rescue Hakan as well.
Objectives – Talk to Kayara / Free Hakan
Once you reach the location marked on your map a cutscene will play. Once it’s done, talk to Kayara about what happened. She will accept your help and will suggest to ask other rebels at the market to help you.
The people you can talk to are all marked green when using your instincts. Talk to the guy to the right of the stairs first (the guy with the people praying in front of). Lara will ask them to stop the prayers and he will play the horn.
Next talk to the guy closest to Kayara (the one on the pedestal). Ask him to start playing music, which will distract the guards. Then talk to both rebels standing left and right of the stairs and they will help you open the door.
Objectives – Find another way out / Escape with Hakan
Once inside a cutscene will play and you will be trapped in the room… well not exactly trapped since you can pry open the wall in the left corner of the room. Follow the only path there to escape and finish the mission. Once you are outside Hakan will give you a new knife, which is one of the upgrades needed for the That’s a knife! trophy (you still need to buy the other Reinforced Knife Upgrade from a vendor in Paititi).
After receiving the knife and the trophy go up the stairs for another cutscene to play. Hakan and Kayara will be reunited and this will grant you another trophy called I Believe Hakan fly.

I did that side mission but my trophy hasn’t popped for getting the knife. Glitch? Can’t find any info anywhere of the issue.
Did you buy the other upgrade from the merchant in middle of Paititi?
No luck, did everything and got 100% trophy, still no that’s a knife…….
Same problem, gives the knife but no notification of new equipment or trophy. Reloaded a earlier save and got to the point of no return. Still not popping, can the side missions be done after main story?
The side mission can be done after the story. But, I did it after the story and got the same glitch.
Found a YouTube video that said to do the 4 crypt challenge first, didn’t work. Might just leave it open, do everything else, then finish main story and try again. Only other bug was the turtle monolith, had to reload earlier save to get it to show up…..
P.s. already bought the knife upgrade from merchant and tried the beta in steam with verify files…..nothing.

Can you go back in finishing this side quest after rescuing Unuratu? I was unable to go to Kayara before going down to sabe Unuratu. Thanks!
