Destiny 2 Heroic Public Events Explained – All Requirements

September 7, 2017 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

In Destiny 2 Normal Public Events can be turned into Heroic Public Events by doing certain tasks after the event has started.

They are never Heroic from the start. You and the other players have to work together to complete secret side objectives. This will upgrade the Event to a Heroic one.

There are many types of public events. Once an event starts, it says on the left side what type it is. Quickly refer to this list for the Heroic Requirement and complete it as quickly as possible. You only have limited time during public events, so it’s best if multiple people focus on the Heroic objective. This works best with a group of three players.

Heroic Events give better loot than regular ones, so it’s well worth doing these objectives. They also unlock “The People’s Hero” trophy!

Below are all types of Public Events and how to make them Heroic:

Heroic Cabal Excavation

  • Destroy the dropship as soon as it comes flying in

Shortly after the event starts a dropship (called Thresher) will appear in the sky. Destroy it as quickly as possible! This will trigger a boss fight and turn the event heroic.

Heroic Devil Walker

  • Shoot Devil Walker until it’s stunned, pick up blue orbs and unlock the bubbles with the Scorch Cannons.

A big devil walker spawns in this event. Shoot its legs until it’s stunned. It will just be sitting there and you can shoot its weakpoint behind its head. While the Devil Walker is stunned it will drop blue bubbles. Use those bubbles to access the Scorch Cannons (rocket launchers) around the event. Pick up the Cannons and another boss will spawn which triggers the heroic version. You must unlock all three bubbles before killing the first Devil Walker.

Heroic Disrupt Vex

  • Capture the three platforms

In this type of event there are 3 beams of light pointing to platforms. You must capture those 3 platforms. This will cause a Hydra boss to spawn, defeat it.

Heroic Ether Resupply

  • The big Servitor will spawn smaller ones, destroy those small Servitors.

In this event there’s a big Servitor spawning. It will spawn smaller Servitors as the event progresses. Normally, the small ones can be ignored. But for the Heroic version you must destroy all the small Servitors very quickly before they disappear. After all the small ones are dead you can go ahead and defeat the big Servitor.

Heroic Glimmer Extraction

  • Destroy the Glimmer Extractor before killing the enemies

At the very start of the event there’s a Glimmer Extractor that can be damaged. Destroy it before killing the enemies. You then have to move to the next Extraction. Always destroy the Extractor right away. At the end there will be a boss enemy spawning and you have to defend your extracted glimmer from the enemies to finish the heroic task.

Heroic Injection Rig

  • After killing the Psions destroy the vents

When you kill the Psions during this public event, vents will open up at the top of the rig. Quickly destroy them (you’ll start to take damage, so be quick about it and have other people help destroying other vents). Now do the same to the vents at the bottom, after killing the next Psions.

Heroic Taken Blights

  • Stand in the small black orbs to get buff, then damage the big orb and repeat.

In this event there are black blights spawning. One big enemy blight and some smaller shield blights you can stand in. In order to damage the big blight you must walk through the smaller ones. This gives you a temporary buff that enables you to damage the big blight (only lasts for a few seconds). Attack the big blight immediately. When it goes immune again, walk through the small blights to refreshen the buff. You’ll do very little damage to the big blight so it’s important that multiple players are damaging it. After causing enough damage to the big blight it will trigger the heroic event.

Heroic Witch Ritual

  • Stand on the circles, kill the two witches and then destroy the blue barriers.

In this events you need to kill two Witches/Wizards. To drop their barriers stand on the two circles in the event area. After killing the witches, two crystals spawn behind blue barriers. Stand on the circles again to quickly damage the barriers and destroy the crystals to turn the event heroic. This will cause the “Abyssal Champion” boss to spawn, kill him.

Heroic Vex Crossroads (Curse of Osiris DLC)

  • Shoot all the white stones on the first island/tower you jump to

This heroic event is only available in the Curse of Osiris DLC (must be purchased in online store).

After jumping to the first island/tower (doesn’t matter if you take the one on the left or the right), kill all the enemies on the island and then a white stone shows up in the air, floating above the abyss. The white stone always spawns at the back of the first island you visit (opposite side of where you came from — after landing head straight ahead until you reach the abyss). Shooting the white floating stone causes platforms to appear with more stones to shoot. You must shoot all stones very quickly and climb from platform to platform to get to the top. At the topm stand in the big cirlce to trigger the heroic event. There is a time limit for shooting the white stones, you got to be quick (ideally do it with 2 players). The only difference now is that the boss has a shield which you can disable by killing his minions, picking up the orbs of light they drop, and placing them on the platform above the boss. Also see How to Start Heroic Event on Mercury for a longer explanation with pictures.
