Far Cry 5 – Clean Water Act Story Mission Walkthrough

• Reach the Water Treatment Plant
• Find a way to get in the pump rooms
• Destroy the pumps in each building

While you roam around Faith’s Region you will randomly get a call over the radio that unlocks the Clean Water Act Story Quest. Alternatively, you can also trigger it by going to the water treatment plant shown in the map screenshot below. During Faith’s story line this is sure to unlock sooner or later. It could literally be your first story quest there without touching anything else or it could take until you’ve done a few story quests there. More than anything it seems to be tied to the amount of time you spent in Faith’s Region rather than actual progress (around 30-60 minutes of gameplay in Faith’s Region should get you this quest or just going to the water treatment plant / flying over it).

The quest takes place in the Water Treatment Plant, see the picture below:

Once at the plant, take care of the enemies. There is a boss enemy among them so proceed carefully and stick close to cover at all times. With the enemies dead you can now take a closer look at the plant. Your objective is to get into the pump rooms.

To do this, look for two bright red lights in the middle of the water facility. At the bright red lights are “Pump Control” consoles that you can activate. This will drain the water, lets you drop down into the big water pipes to get rid of rubble blocking the path (by shooting it or knocking it down with melee weapons) and then walk/swim into the pump rooms where you shoot an explosive canister to blow up the whole thing.

Pump Control #1 – Near Fence

Press the red button, then drop down to the left of the button and walk through the pipes.

Wait for the water to rise again. Then you can climb the ladder at the end of the pipes, leading up to the pump room.

Inside the pump room shoot the explosive canister (keep some distance as to not blow yourself to pieces).

Pump Control #2 – in the back of the facility

Again, press the red button. Wait a few seconds for the water to drain and then drop down to the left where you pressed the button.

Along the way shoot the red barrel to blow up the rubble blocking the path (can also use a melee weapon on the rubble).

Make it through the pipes into the control room. Shoot the red barrel to blow up the place.

Now just exit the pump room and it will complete the Clean Water Act story quest. This also unlocks the story-related trophy “Sewer Rat” (Destroy a cult water treatment pump and make them thirst for revenge (Solo Campaign only).
