- Sub-Chapter: Mysterious Iron Pot
- Requirement: Finished previous main quest Kilnden Workshop
- Reward: None
- Quest Description: Fixing the Kiln may grant a closer look at their craftsmanship. Help with the repairs and examine the pots in the workshop.
Objectives:
- Activate the ancient generator
- Fix the disconnected kiln
- Fix the dismantled kiln
- Put fuel into the kiln
Starting Location: Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop
Activate the ancient generator
As soon as the quest starts, you will be in front of the ancient generator tower. To activate the generator you must align the 4 glowing symbols on the tower rings. The first symbol on the bottom ring is already lit, you must align the other 3 that look the same.
At the front of the tower you find a yellow-glowing switch. Interacting with this switch and pushing
/
will change the ring that moves when you push the wooden lever.
The bottom and top symbols are already correctly aligned, so you only need to align the two in the middle.
If you haven’t interacted with the generator yet, the quickest solution is:
- Push yellow lever all the way to the right – this activates the 2nd ring.
- Push the wooden lever to the right to align the 2nd symbol, so it’s directly after the first yellow glowing symbol.
- Push yellow lever to the middle – this activates the 3rd ring.
- Push wooden lever to the left to align the 3rd symbol above the first two.
When done correctly the solution looks like this:
If you already interacted with the tower, you can use the lever as often as needed to correct the symbol positions, or reload the last autosave to reset it and solve it in 4 moves.
You then get 3 new puzzle objectives around this area. We’ll start with the one furthest north (fuel kiln), then the one in the middle (dismantled kiln), then the one furthest south-east (disconnected kiln).
Put fuel into the kiln
The fuel kiln is the objective furthest north:
To put fuel in the kiln you must use Axiom Force (hold
/ Left Stick) on the 5 blue glowing balls, then push them into the round openings around the kiln. When all 5 glowing balls are inserted, push the wooden lever around the kiln to power it on.
Two of the blue balls are directly at the kiln, the others are scattered in the area immediately around the kiln within a few meters. Their locations are as follows:
Blue Ball 1 + 2: Directly next to the kiln on the floor.
Blue Ball 3: Near the kiln, go through the flooded area to find it in a cave entrance. In the direction toward the hill where you activated the ancient generator.
Potential Bug Warning: Sometimes this blue ball doesn’t spawn. A confirmed fix is to reboot the game and if it doesn’t appear reload an older autosave from the end of the previous quest and replay from there.
Blue Ball 4: In the flooded area to the left of the kiln, look for a bird-shaped statue with a blue glowing head. The ball is the EYE of the bird statue. Stand to the side of the statue and hold
/ Left Stick to aim at the eye, then hold
/
to pull it out.
Blue Ball 5: Close to the bird statue, in the flooded area left of the kiln, on the ground in the water.
Fix the dismantled kiln
Dismantled Kiln is the middle objective.
To fix the dismantled kiln you must use Axiom Force (hold
/ Left Stick) to pick up the two broken pieces. Stack them on top of the kiln, each individually one after the other. Then climb on top of the kiln, jump, and in midair use Force Palm with
/ Right Stick to connect the broken pieces. This part can be finicky, refer to the video guide above for a full visual demonstration.
Step 1: The first broken part is to the right of the kiln. Look for the part with rough edges that looks the most destroyed. Hold
/ Left Stick and lift over the kiln. Stack it on top, it should automatically rotate into the correct position.
Step 2: Grab the second broken part behind the kiln, it’s the chimney. It’s the part with rough edges that looks more destroyed than the other parts.
Step 3: Climb onto the two broken parts. At the top jump in the air (
) and during the jump use Force Palm (
/ Right Stick). The Force Palm attack will connect both pieces. The kiln will then look “repaired”.
Step 4: Push the wooden lever on the side of the kiln to power it on.
Fix the disconnected kiln
The disconnected kiln is the objective furthest south-east.
This one is easier than the other two. Behind the kiln near the wooden lever is a power cable. Simply interact with the loose cable where it connects to the kiln. Then you will automatically push the cable back into the kiln to reconnect it.
Then simply push the wooden lever to power on the kiln.
Afterward you get a short cutscene. Then talk to the Grimnir NPC at the ancient generator again to finish the quest.
This finishes Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop in Crimson Desert.
