Shadow of the Tomb Raider: A Faint Light Walkthrough

A Faint Light is the first Story Mission of Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the introduction of the game. It is the first of a few short Missions in the very linear beginning of the game and features a lot of tutorials about the game’s mechanics. These will be shown in this post as well.

The first cutscene of the game shows Lara and Jonah aboard a small plane. But as one would expect for the opening of a Tomb Raider game, things are not going smoothly. The plane comes into a storm, and Lara suddenly has to take over the controls of the plane. When Lara tells Jonah to bail out, the plane rips into two pieces and goes down pretty quickly. Uh-oh…

But first things first – the game sets us back two days and into Cozumel, Mexico. Lara is currently stuck in a narrow space and has to crawl out and reunite with Jonah.

Now it is time to make our first steps as a seasoned climber. Lara will face a rather porous-looking white/grey wall. Generally, most things in the game which are white can be climbed. This color-indicator is only present in the lower difficulty settings, though.

To climb these particular walls, Lara needs to use her climbing gear with . This can also be done while jumping and is in fact even needed for many climbing passages.

After navigating the rock-surface up, Lara will see a beam of light – seems to be a good idea to check out, where the light is shining onto.

We will see the structure depicted above and Lara and Jonah will reunite there. While investigating the structure for clues, Lara triggers an explosive, which apparently was planted by the Trinity-Organization, who is the main source of enemies in this game.

When the cave starts to collapse, it is time to bail out… The way is pretty much straight ahead and there is nothing to do wrong, really.

Of course, our two heroes make it out alive; it would be a short game otherwise…

While taking in the beautiful scenery, Lara and Jonah make plans to go to the city.

After a short break, we will see our two protagonists sitting the city in the evening hours and deciphering the clues Lara captured with her camera earlier.

Lara figures out the clues and once Jonah sees Dominguez, a high member of Trinity, it is time to follow him to see, where he is headed.
We will get the Path of the Stars-trophy here and the game will seamlessly continue with the follow-up-mission, In the Shadows.
