Destiny 2 Homecoming Main Mission Walkthrough

July 19, 2017 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Homecoming is the first main mission in Destiny 2. This walkthrough will guide you through the mission.

After a series of intro cutscenes the game starts in a burning tower where enemy confrontations soon await.

Keep in mind you can always press the Touchpad (PS4) / View Button (XB1) to see the objective and waypoint markers in-game.

Objective: Defend your home

Shortly after the mission starts you are greeted by some “Legionary” enemies that break through a wall when you go near it. They are easy to kill with headshots. Go through the burning building and you will meet an ally called Cayde 6.

Objective: Find Zavala

Leave the room and go upstairs. Another ally will hold open the door to the armory for you. Enter the armory to trigger the next objective.

Objective: Gear up for the fight

Pick up a weapon from the armory and equip it in your inventory. Please note that each character class gets a different weapon here, so it will depend on what character you chose in the beginning. While scrolling over your inventory slots you can switch out the weapon. Then open the door near the weapon rack to leave the room.

Objective: Find Zavala

Upon leaving the armory the previous objective continues. Jump up some stairs and continue through the building.

You come to a dark room with a flying enemy and some Legionaries spawning. Kill them and move on to the hangar outside. At the hangar a flying centurion and more legionaries await. Once they are defeated, boost jump up the broken stairs. The path up ahead leads through a burning tunnel and eventually to the Tower Plaza where the next objective is being triggered.

Objective: Defend the Tower

At the tower plaza you must survive 3 enemy assaults. Each assault has more enemies than the last. It’s a good idea to save a super move for the third wave. Aim for the heads of enemies and stay in cover.

Objective: Leave the Plaza and find the Speaker

After all enemies have been defeated, move to the other end of the plaza. On the other end you meet Ikora, another ally fending off the Cabal. You must then go through an alley with flamethrower enemies (Incinerators). Then the screen fades out to black and a cutscene is triggered. You will regain control of your guardian on an airship.

Objective: Disable the shields

The next job is to find the Command Ship’s shield generator. You can enter the command ship by boost-jumping on its loading ramp. Inside there’s an orange console you must interact with (press the Square-Button on PS4 / X on XB1). This opens the doors throughout the command ship.

Objective: Reach the shield generator

As you make it through the corridors a miniboss called “Pashk, the Searing Will” is going to show up. He can be killed relatively quickly with sidearms or headshots. Now the path leads outside onto the deck of the ship. The first snipers in the game are encountered here. Use long range weapons (Pulse Rifle or Sniper Rifle) to kill them. Then there’s a flying miniboss called “Brann, the Unbent Blade”. Keep him for last, he’s no doubt the most difficult enemy you’ve encountered so far. Do headshots for bonus damage.

Objective: Overload the generatorNext up is a room with lots of snipers and incinerators spraying flames from above. The snipers are easy to take out and die very quickly. Shoot the gas tank of the flamethrower enemies to blow them up. Then jump down to the bottom floor. Use a boost just before hitting the ground to slow down (otherwise you will lose health from the drop or even die). On the bottom floor you are greeted by another boss called “Kreth, the Living Skyfire”. There’s no cover here, so you may want to retreat through the door to take cover and let your health recharge.

You have reached the final room — the generator. To overload the generator you must shoot 3 of its turbines (they are marked as objectives when you press the Touchpad). The tricky part is that the turbines are spinning, but you can jump onto the heat pipes on the walls. This way the spinning turbines can’t hit you. The heat pipes deplete your health (because they are burning hot) but if do quick jumps it won’t kill you. So use the heat pipes to go around the room in a circular motion and shoot the exposed turbine blades underneath the central platform.

After all 3 turbines are destroyed leave the room to exit the command ship. This ends the Homecoming main mission – enjoy the cutscene.
