Sekiro Shadows Die Twice – Abandoned Dungeon Walkthrough

March 23, 2019 by DK 6 Comments

Abandoned Dungeon is the 5th area in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. This walkthrough will guide you through the Abandoned Dungeon region.

Checkpoints (Idols):
  • Abandoned Dungeon – Underground Waterway
  • Bottomless Hole

How to reach Abandoned Dungeon

From Ashina Castle Idol jump off the left side of the bridge where a woman sits, then grapple on to the tree branch. There you find two enemies on a bridge that you can eavesdrop on. Run past them, grapple to the temple rooftop and follow the path past the big bell-wielding enemy. There you reach the Abandoned Dungeon Entrance idol.

Abandoned Dungeon – Underground Waterway

The Abandoned Dungeon is a very small area that acts as a connecting tunnel to the next region Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo. It’s pretty straight forward: run to the next Underground Waterway Idol and keep swimming to the end of the cave until you reach an elevator. Use the elevator to reach Senpou Temple area. This puts us on the main path to the next main story area so continue on that path.

Abandoned Dungeon – Bottomless Hole

The Bottomless Hole idol requires us to backtrack and take a totally different path. You can ignore this until you’re done with the Senpou Temple region.

From the Ashina Reservoir idol (Ashina Castle), jump across the tree branches to the left so you land in an enemy fort between a rifleman and a drummer. Behind the drummer walk up to the cliffside and look to the right. There you can grapple on to another cliff, where you will find an old well with the Lone Shadow Longswordman miniboss. After defeating that boss you can swim through the well and reach a very dark cave, where you find the Bottomless Hole idol.

This is a story path meant for later. In this area you also find a headless miniboss which can be defeated with Divine Confetti and Pacifying Agent consumables, but you should do this later when you’re at a higher level. Continuing past the Bottomless Hole idol brings you to a cliff where a woman is praying. Jumping down the pitch-black abyss in front of her will let you grapple on to some cliffs as you’re falling down. This leads to the Ashina Depths region. Again, this is meant for later. For now we’ll continue with Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo region on the first path.

This concludes the “Abandoned Dungeon” area.

Next up: Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo

I think this concludes the story of both the surgeon and the warrior guy. If you don’t lead the man to the dungeon he will eventually get to the mibu village and die after the O’rin fight, giving you an item that recovers 1 res bar

You rest at the Shrine, then go back. He will be standing outside the door again, and you can continue the side quest.

The boss in the bottomless hole section is not a Headless but a Shichimen Warrior.
