Searching Sakai is the 10th main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Searching Sakai main mission.

- Quest Description: A secret identity becomes Naoe’s key to making the right connections as she hunts the woman who shot her in Sakai.
Talk to the gunsmiths
On the Objectives Board, scroll to the Onryo group, find The Golden Teppo, and select the quest “Searching Sakai.”
Make your way to the Sakai Firearm District and speak to the gunsmiths. There are three gunsmiths you talk to on the main drag, whom you can identify with 
/ 
(shown on the map with empty circles. However, they don’t make what you need.
A fourth blacksmith appears if you now investigate again. He’s in an alley talking with someone (the filled circle on the above map).
Eavesdrop on the gunsmiths
While crouched, walk up to a draped box nearby to automatically hide behind cover. Hold / to listen in on their conversation.
Talk to the gunsmiths
After listening to blacksmiths, go talk to them.
You get several dialogue choices in this interaction, all of which follow different paths to the same outcome: killing the blacksmith somehow. The quickest path is the first one below. Regardless there is no diplomatic way to get the Counterfeit Contract Papers.
[My name is not important.] – If you choose this option, you then get a second set of choices:
- [We can do this the hard way.] – This option has a storm cloud alongside it, indicating an aggressive option. Choose this one, and the blacksmiths flee. You then chase them down and kill them for the information. This option can progress the quest.
- [I heard everything.]
- [You’re wasting my time.] – Makes you chase down the blacksmith for the information.
- [I will pay you. [500]] – This option makes the gunsmith greedy. He offers 200 Mon to anyone who can kill you, forcing you to fight them. You then recover the papers from the gunsmith’s dead body.
- [I don’t have enough.] – Gunsmith tells you to come back when you have the money.
[I am with the Imai.]
- [I know Imai Sokyu’s son.]
- [You’re wasting my time.] – Makes you chase down the blacksmith for the information.
- [I will pay you. [500] – This option makes the gunsmith greedy. He offers 200 Mon to anyone who can kill you, forcing you to fight them. You then recover the papers from the gunsmith’s dead body.
- [I don’t have enough.] – Gunsmith tells you to come back when you have the money.
- I know Imai Sokyu’s daughter.]
- [You’re wasting my time.] – Makes you chase down the blacksmith for the information.
- [I will pay you. [500] – This option makes the gunsmith greedy. He offers 200 Mon to anyone who can kill you, forcing you to fight them. You then recover the papers from the gunsmith’s dead body.
- [I don’t have enough.] – Gunsmith tells you to come back when you have the money.
- [That’s none of your business.]
- [You’re wasting my time.] – Makes you chase down the blacksmith for the information.
- [I will pay you. [500] – This option makes the gunsmith greedy. He offers 200 Mon to anyone who can kill you, forcing you to fight them. You then recover the papers from the gunsmith’s dead body.
- [I don’t have enough.] – Gunsmith tells you to come back when you have the money.
Talk to Imai Sokun
Head southwest to the spot indicated on the map below.
From the street, it’s the building below that does not have a front door. You’ll have to get in through the back door.
Walk into the house and speak to Imai Sokun, who sits on the floor immediately inside the door.
Two dialogue choices appear. The first one does not affect the outcome.
- [I have much to learn.]
- [Business requires bold action.]
The second one is the same as the first. The only difference is the fake name that you choose to use.
- [My name is Shizuka.]
- [My name is Sanuki.]
- [My name is Shigure.]
Follow Imai Sokun
Imai leads up back up the street. You can hold Cross to auto-follow him, if you wish.
Partway down, Imai stops to claim a debt. After that, feel free to use auto-follow again while Imai leads you.
He eventually leads you to his office in the Sakai Firearm District.
Sit with Imai Sokun
Sit at the table opposite Imai. This opens a new dialogue choice, The choice does not matter.
- [I’m a good investment.]
- [Your father’s position may be in danger.]
This finishes Searching Sakai in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
