The Wheel Unmasked is the 40th main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Wheel Unmasked main mission.

- Reward: 2000 EXP, 3 Mastery Points
- Quest Description: The Mourner’s mask streams silent tears. But for who?.
Meet Kuma
You can track this quest using the Objectives Board. Scroll to the Shinbakufu and select the quest underneath The Mourner.
Use the viewpoint fast travel in Nagahama. Then follow the road north along the coast until you reach Shiotsu.
Just before reaching Shiotsu, you approach Shiotsu Shrine right off the road. Approach the shrine to find one of your kunai stuck in the rock fence.
Yasuke joins you, giving you the option to choose which character to play. Choose whichever playstyle you prefer.
Track down the Wheel’s location
When you regain control, go straight forward (westerly) to the edge of town. There, you find Riverside Hatago.
Climb up the eastern wall of the Riverside Hatago. Then, use Eagle Eye (R3/Right Stick) to find the closest blue spot that appears.
When close, hold 
/ 
to listen to them talk about the samurai.
Kill the Shinbakufu samurai
If you wish, feel free to go straight west to the other side of Riverside Hatago to find the samurai.
The easiest way is to go around the Riverside Hatago to the west side and go in through the door right next to the samurai.
Be aware that the samurai moves from inside this house to the eastern porch at different point. If he’s in the house, move quickly.
Return to the rendezvous point
Head back to the Shiotsu Shrine. Be wary that you might have to run there manually because fast travel may not be available. Thankfully, it’s not a long run.
When you speak with Yasuke, you get two dialogue options:
- [We’re ready.]
- [Not yet.]
And also
- [Play as Yasuke.]
- [Play as Naoe.]
You must choose “We’re ready” in order to progress the story. Otherwise, choose whichever play style you prefer.
Assassinate the Wheel
You regain control on a boat at the coast of Chikubushima.
The path of least resistance is to climb up the hill and run around to the northeast corner of the town.
Then jump down to ground level and interact with the front door.
During the cutscene, you get an option:
- [Spare as Yasuke.]
- [Attack as Naoe.]
There is a bit of a difference here. If you choose “Spare as Yasuke,” then Kumi stays alive. Otherwise, he dies if you choose “attack as Naoe.”
Regardless, Lady Oichi gets spared.
