Against the Koga-ryu is the 29th main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Against the Koga-ryu main mission.

- Quest Giver: Available automatically after completing the quest An Evening in Otsu
- Requirement: Available immediately after completing the quest An Evening in Otsu
- Recommended Level: 19
- Reward: 1000 EXP
- Quest Description: The Contact suggests recruiting the former daimyo of Omi to help infiltrate Sakamoto Castle.
Track down Shotei
To track this quest, go to the Objective Board. Scroll to the Shinbukufu section and select the quest underneath The Naginata.
Shotei is located just east of Koga in The Shimmering Fields.
He’s residing in a shabby, unkempt house.
You soon get ambushed. Here, you can choose to play as either Yasuke or Naoe. This choice does not affect the outcome of the quest, so choose whichever play style you prefer.
Kill the Akechi Captain
Sneak to the west side of the house, taking out the baddie hanging out by the tall bush.
Thankfully, none of these enemies patrol anywhere. So, it’s much easier to sneak up on enemies and assassinate them.
When you get close to the captain, he and his ally separate. Feel free to go straight for the captain.
Return to Shotei
Head back up to the shabby house. On your way up the path, you might as well take out the baddie that patrolled away from the captain.
When you talk to Shotei, you get a dialogue option:
- [You were great once.]
- [It’s time to sober up.]
The only difference here is which character responds. Yasuke responds if you choose “You were great once,” and Naoe responds if you choose “It’s time to sober up.” The outcome remains the same.
Here, you again get a choice to play as either Yasuke or Naoe. Choose whichever you prefer.
Meet Katsuhime
Make your way to the Enryakuji Temple, located southwest of Mount Hiei.
Track down Katsuhime
Pass through the dilapidated building and climb the stairs behind them.
At the top of the stairs, us Eagle Eye to find a shinobi in the bushes to your left. Sneak up to him and take him out.
Pass through the next building and climb the stairs going southwest.
Another set of stairs leads you to an area with several baddies. Katsuhime is located in the building to your left.
Kill the attackers
Start from the right. Take out the enemy directly in front of you. Even though the other enemies are being shot at, one of them might notice you, even though they aren’t looking at you.
There are two heavily armored enemies ahead of you. Aim your kunai at the red barrel next to them to take them out quickly.
Then, go after the fourth and final baddie. What’s kind of fun is staggering these guys while Katsuhime shoots at them. You can use this strategy if needed.
Once all enemies fall, a cutscene starts.
