Nobutsuna Sensei is the 25th main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Nobutsuna Sensei main mission.

- Quest Giver: Automatically starts immediately after completing the quest An Education
- Requirement: Begins immediately after completing the quest An Education
- Recommended Level: 18
- Reward: 1000 EXP
- Quest Description: A flashback of Yasuke’s past.
Follow the retainer
When you regain control, follow the retainer south. You can auto-follow if you wish, but he only takes you to the training grounds in the next area south of you.
Upon arrival, a cutscene plays, complete with a dialogue choice:
- [I have fought my share of battles.]
- [I have much to learn.]
The options do not change anything. Choose whichever you like.
Duel with Nagayoshi
When you regain control, you find yourself in a sparring match with Marume Nagayoshi.
He essentially only uses heavy attacks. So, dodging is the best way to deal with him. An easy strategy is to do two or three light attacks and then dodge. By the time you use your third attack, Nagayoshi starts charging his heavy attack.
Keep following this pattern until you defeat him.
Reach your room
When you regain control, go down the stairs in front of you and approach your room.
After a brief cutscene, you face off against some rival students. The strategy remains the same.
Otherwise, you can let the rival student win and end the fight that much sooner. Whether you win or lose this fight is irrelevant. It just changes some of the dialogue in the following cutscene.
In that cutscene, you face a dialogue choice with Lady Oichi:
- [I am content being alone.]
- [Some company might be nice.]
- [I try not to think about it.]
The choice [Some company might be nice.] garners you a little favor with Lady Oichi for later. Apart from that, these options don’t affect much else in the meantime.
Chase the suspicious man
After a cutscene, chase after the suspicious man.
Chase him up the stairs in front of you, then turn right up another set of stairs.
Then take another right up another flight of stairs.
Keep running behind the suspicious man, staying along the right wall. You cannot catch the suspicious man while he runs.
He eventually meets a dead end. Approach him for a cutscene.
Talk to Nobutsune sensei
Head east up the stairs. Continue down a set of stairs to your left and then continue east up to a house on your right. A cutscene begins here, including two dialogue options:
- [I do not want to be disloyal.]
- [It will be our secret.]
And:
- [Tell me why.]
- [I understand.]
These choices do not affect the outcome at all. Choose whichever you like better.
In the next cutscene, another dialogue choice appears:
- [I fear facing Lord Nobunaga.]
- [Say nothing.]
This choice does not affect anything either.
The next bit is a series of button sequences.
The 5 groups of button sequences flow like this, in this order:
#1: Hold R1
#2: Hold R2 > Press R1 > Press L1 > Time R1 press
#3: Timed R1 press > Press L1 > Press Circle > Hold R2
#4: Hold R1 > Hold L1 > Timed Circle Press > Timed R1 press
#5: Timed R1 > Timed L1 > Timed R2 > Timed R2 > Hold L1 > Press R2
Kill Masatoyo’s students
You now face 3 students. Take them all out.
Be careful with them, though. They like to have two people using heavy attacks and one with quick attacks. It’s very easy to be cut to shreds in no time.
The first time is to not let them surround you. Try to keep them on one side of you at all times. It gets significantly easier once you take out one of them.
Then, stay back and charge a heavy attack until they come to you. Then land the hit and dodge away.
After the next cutscene, you face a dialogue choice, which, like the ones above, does not affect anything. Choose whichever you like.
- [I am grateful for your guidance.]
- [I am like a tree.]
