Assassin’s Creed Shadows Darkness Falls Walkthrough

Darkness Falls is the 55th main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Darkness Falls main mission.

• Quest Giver: Available automatically after completing the quests Temple Stories, Restless Spirits, and The Lost Envoys
• Requirement: Available immediately after completing the quests Temple Stories, Restless Spirits, and The Lost Envoys
• Recommended Level: 31
• Reward: 2000 EXP, 3 Mastery Points
• Quest Description: This mysterious figure hides behind the mask of an elderly man.

Meet with your ally

To track Darkness Falls, navigate to the Objectives Board. Scroll to the Shinbakufu group and select the quest underneath The Wise.

Head to Kofukuji Temple.

Wait by a leaning tree to the southwest.

You get a confirmation dialogue option to begin the quest. It will not progress until you choose “I’m ready to start.”

You can also choose the character you wish to play.

Yasuke’s path:

Attend the peace talks

Walk up the stairs and into the building. Approach the peace talks.

Talk to the lords

Talk to Joken Hokkyu, Lady Ayako, and Tsutsui Junkei.

Talk to Kojiro

Off to the northwest stands Kojiro. Go talk to him.

Here, you get quite the dialogue option:

• [Accuse Tsutsui Junkei]
• [Accuse Joken Hokkyo] – Correct answer
• [Accuse Akiyama Ayako.]

No matter which you choose, the outcome is the same.

Defend against the attackers

Fight off the ambush, using help from your allies.

Assassinate Joken Hokkyo

Go north to the other end of the temple. You can fight your way north if you wish, but the easy way is to just run by all of the opposition.

You find Joken Hokkyo outside of the temple. He combos both heavy and light attacks. Dodge and parry those, respectively, and chip away at him until he falls.

 

The final reward for this quest is one of the tea collections needed for the Tea Bowls for Rikyu quest.

This finishes Darkness Falls in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Naoe’s path

Reach the vantage point

Climb up the leaning tree in front of you.

Cross the two roofs in front of you.

Look for suspicious behavior

When you reach the vantage point, you see two guards doing something. Use L2 to listen in.

Search the area

When you hold L2 to investigate, you see two blue markers in front of you. Ignore the one on the left and focus on the right now.

Just to your right is a swing point. Use it to get to the next roof ahead of you.

On the north end of this building, jump to the tree and walk across the rope.

On the other side of the wall, jump down to see an open box. Read the note in the box.

Kill the sharpshooter

Climb up the boxes next to you, then go east.

Run across the rope to the next roof, then cross another rope to reach the tower.

Sneak up behind the sharpshooter and assassinate him.

Defend against the attackers

Here, you take over as Yasuke no matter what. Fight off the ambush, using help from your allies.

Assassinate Joken Hokkyo

The only difference here between Yasuke’s and Naoe’s version of this part is that Naoe begins on a rooftop.

You can sneak your way through if you like, or you can just run through and confront Joken Hokkyo. Just know that you cannot sneak up on Joken Hokkyo, so he cannot be assassinated.

You find Joken Hokkyo outside of the temple. He combos both heavy and light attacks. Dodge and parry those, respectively, and chip away at him until he falls.
