A Peculiar Guest is the 44th main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the A Peculiar Guest main mission.

- Requirement: Available immediately after completing the quests The Rengakai, The Scent of War, and Losing Hand
- Recommended Level: 24
- Reward: 1000 EXP
- Quest Description: A secret message and a suspicious shrine on the outskirts of Himeji Castle. Two clues that could lead to the whereabouts of Ukita Hideie.
Search the shrine for information
You can track this quest using the Objectives Board. Scroll to the Shinbakufu and select the quest underneath The Noble.
Doing this quest is much easier as Yasuke, due to a significant battle at the end of the quest.
The information you need is found in the Junisho Shrine, just south of Himeji.
At the shrine, search for a miko pacing on the west end.
You quickly learn she is a shinobi.
Kill the shinobi
This fight is rather straightforward, even as Naoe. The shinobi rarely does any combos, and she only has one heavy attack, which is a kick. Just avoid that and parry everything else, and she will fall in no time.
Rescue the special guest
Make your way to the Itatehyozu Shrine, which sits southeast of Himeji.
You find the special guest in the northeast corner of the Itatehyozu Shrine.
Talk to Ukita Hideie
When you get close to the special guest, you learn it’s Ukuta Hideie. Speak to him.
He presents a dialogue choice:
- [Loyalty.]
- [Regret.]
- [I don’t remember.]
The choice does not affect the events of the quest.
Follow Ukita Hideie
Feel free to auto-follow Ukita Hideie. Either way, he only takes you a little way south.
Talk to the priest
When Ukita Hideie stops walking, interact with the priest in front of you.
Follow Ukita Hideie
He leads you a little ways west until he catches a glimpse of his father. Approach him and his father.
You soon get a dialogue choice:
- [You’re in a hurry to send Lord Hideie away.]
- [I expected you to be happier.]
The outcome stays the same no matter which option you choose.
Survive the shinobi attack
You then get attacked by seven shinobi.
If you wish, simply run away until you lose the shinobi. You can do this if you get overwhelmed or are underleveled.
Otherwise, defeat the shinobi.
This fight is still doable as Naoe, but Yasuke’s playstyle makes short work of these shinobis. If you have trouble, reload a recent autosave and switch characters. You can still switch mid-quest. With that said, you need to make the switch before engaging in combat. You cannot switch characters while in battle.
This finishes A Peculiar Guest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
