The Pursuit of Perfection is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Pursuit of Perfection Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also known as the Weaponsmith’s Request. It requires you to help Izo find some Draconite Ore to create a weapon.
The Pursuit of Perfection becomes available at the Gongaga Village Community Noticeboard after arriving in the Gongaga Region in Chapter 9.

Area: Gongaga – Izo’s Smithery (available from Gongaga Village Community Noticeboard)
Quest Giver: Independent Weaponsmith
Requirement: Available after arriving in the Gongaga Region in Chapter 9
Reward: Fafnir Rifle (Barret Weapon), Barret Relationship Strengthened, 10 Party EXP, Player EXP (scaled to your level)
Mission Info: I’ve been striving to create the greatest weapon that ever was, but despite my best efforts, I’ve yet to make any meaningful progress. There’s an essential element I’m missing, the seed of inspiration – but I know it’s out there! I just need something or someone to help me grasp it!

- Take Izo’s Map
- Find the Draconite Deposits
- Gather Draconite Ore
- Deliver the Draconite Ore
Starting Location: The Pursuit of Perfection (The Weaponsmith’s Request)
You can accept the Odd Job from the Community Noticeboard in Gongaga Village, or you can go directly to the quest giver at Izo’s Smithery.
Take Izo’s Map
Head south to Izo’s shed and pick up the map from inside.
Find the Draconite Deposits
Using the photos, follow them northwest to find the draconite deposits, where you will be attacked by a flock of Daggerwings.
Draconite Deposit Location:
Gather Draconite Ore
Now you will need to collect eight pieces of draconite ore in the area. They are big blue ores and are very easy to see.
Two will be next to the rope leading up.
Two will be on a ledge to your right after climbing the rope.
Four will be along the right path leading from the rope.
Two extra will be along the left path.
Deliver the Draconite Ore
Return to Izo at his Smithery.
