Lament of the Damned is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Lament of the Damned Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also known as the Supervisor’s Request. It requires you to go underground in Shinra Manor, complete combat trials and kill a powerful enemy.
Lament of the Damned becomes available at the beginning of Chapter 12.

Requirement: Unlocked at the beginning of Chapter 12.
Reward: The Art of Swordplay Vol. VI, Barret Relationship Strengthened, Hojo’s Exams (Trials) unlocked, 10 Party EXP, Player EXP (scaled to your level)
Mission Info: Tell me you’ve heard it too. The woman in the manor, weeping or wailing or…I don’t know. I don’t want to know really – can’t bring myself to even go in the manor these days. But someone needs to get to the bottom of this…or I’ll never be able to sleep again.
Objectives:

- Investigate the Lower Levels
- Complete the Combat Simulator Challenges
- Identify the Voice
Starting Location: Lament of the Damned (The Supervisor’s Request)
Investigate Shinra Manor
Fast travel or walk to Shinra Manor and head inside the front door for a cutscene.
Investigate the Lower Levels
Follow Barret to the lift then select Mako Research Facility – Sub-Basement when given the choice. Once there, follow Vincent to the north until he stops by another lift and gives you a keycard. After you go down in the lift, follow Vincent down the long, linear corridor.
Complete the Combat Simulator Challenges
Interact with the pillar in front of you and you’ll have to complete within a certain time limit and by Staggering foes a certain number of times. At this stage of the game, none of these should trouble you especially as you can pick your own party of three.
Identify the Voice
Head through the door that opens and run down the long corridor to find another Hojo hologram at the end through a door. You have to face Dranabaga, a powerful specimen immune to physical attacks from the rear. The best way is to use Ice magic or abilities as it is weak to it, and try and time it when it does its Subdue attack as this will pressure it quickly. It also likes to inflict poison so have Chakra, Poisona or Antidotes handy.
Kill it for a cutscene and to complete this quest.
